  1. I haven't pestered everyone with this little emergency since BCAM's wake was going on, but I need TDK love and light and I need it hard and heavy.

Sweet little Madonna has been stranded on the roof for 3 days now. I mean the second story of my apts. I have no idea how she got there. But she can't get down. It's in the 90s here and I don't think she'll make it through tomorrow. There is no shade. She cries without ceasing.

I've called animal control, the SPCA, the fire dept, and a TV station. The TV station was the most helpful. They were at least willing to cover the fact that Austin makes no provision to rescue stranded cats (dogs are another story). The presumption is that cats can get themselves out of any dilemma they get themselves in.

I'm heartbroken over my little girl. Please help me call her down!

  2. OMG. Madonna, Please come on down honey...Your meowmy will take care of you. Baby..please, please come down.
Lisa, she is in my prayers that she will be okay and will come home.

  3. Not to be melodramatic, but Tex, Maybelline, Madonna, and Mia were littermates. Am I to lose ALL of them???? I have a home for Mia, her new meowmy is coming to get her Tuesday...if I can let her go! She's grown up so healthy and sleek. Madonna is, too. I'm so worried about her not having water all this time. Shriek!!!

  4. Can you get your landlord to help? They must have to get to the roof from time to time for maintenance. If you have the money, you could hire a roofer to climb up there.

I hope she makes it. Is your apartment on the second story? If not, could you get one of the upstairs tenants to help?

  5. Lisa, call the fire department again. They will come here in Midland if pestered enough. Surely they could respond. I would try again.

  6. I actually went TO the closest fire station. Just walked right in. I thought surely that would work!!! They said they used to do that kind of thing, but now they have to receive a dispatch from animal control. Animal control will only dispatch them for dogs. That's when I got mad and called the TV station. They said they'd love to do a story on it, but were full of news for the day.

The landlord (first people I called) said no go, they wouldn't do it because a) technically she's feral despite having shots/spay and b) liability issues with personnel on roof. They use contractors for roof work. I already knew that.

I'll pester everyone else I can think of tomorrow. I've I've tried every logical resource today. To make it worse, I'll be at work tomorrow.

My upstairs neighbors are right under her little crying face--she's staying by my porch, so they are closer to her than I am. They won't help because their GF if is allergic.

  7. Lisa, you must keep calling everyone! You must get someone to listen..call a local radio station and tell them everyone you have called an no one will help...Call at a time when they are taking callers so you can get on the air (no matter what subject they are discussing). Get the word out there that everyone, Police, fire SPCA and all are willing to let your kitty die without even attempting to help..ask the local public for help!! Call you building manager and tell them you need help!!NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. I've reached the tip line of all three major TV stations and the newspaper. Evening radio call-ins are pre-recorded.

Building manager was first person I tried. Called police directly. Went to fire dept in person. Called 911, 311, the SPCS, City Animal Control...I'm ready to call one last ace in my pocket. The lady who arranged for Madonna's spaying. I wish I'd thought of her sooner.

Does anyone know how to Twitter?

She's stopped crying. I hope she's just gone to sleep. I tried throwing kibble up there, and a wet dishtowel. I'm keeping a window open so I can hear her.

  9. Lisa, won't your neighbors let you come into their home and go out on their balcony to call her? Surely they would agree to that!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  10. Lisa...Open the phone book and start calling local building contracters. They have ladders to reach in situations like that and I have a feeling if you explain the situation you may very easily come across an animal lover who'd be willing to come over there and climb up there to help...It would make a great story for him and it could even help his business once he plays the hero to your kitty! He could get his company's name in a newspaper article! Just a thought since nothing else is working and it's dire that she gets off that roof soon. (Madonna)

  11. Karenopa, that is a GREAT idea!! Wish I'd thought of it today! I'll try to leave work early enough tomorrow to do it. 2:30 is the earliest I can get free, but I can make calls between 12-1.

I WISH tomorrow wasn't a work day, but I bet one of the therapists who isn't constantly with people will help me out by making calls. I'm with people every minute.

That is the best idea. YAY!!!

The neighbors did let me call to her from their porch but she's too scared to jump, even though that would be a short jump for her. She could also easily make it to a tree, but it's a leafy sapling, and I don't think she has faith it will break her fall. It really isn't something she could grab onto, and can't be how she got up there. But it would break her fall enough to make it safe to jump. I'm almost certain she went up the drainpipe because a raccoon was after her.

She's crying again and it's killing me!!!

  12. THe most important thing is to get water up to her. Is there any way to accomplish that?

Posted 2 years ago by Catwoman #

  13. I threw her a soaked dishcloth.

  14. Please someone help Lislaeylau and Madonna!!!! This is maddening. Prayers and white light she is rescued today.

  15. I am so sorry this is happening! It must be torture to hear those little cries. I am sending prayers that Madonna is rescued soon!

Posted 2 years ago by rainingwolf #

  16. Sending White Light and hoping that someone gets their butt into gear and helps Lisa and gets Madonna off the roof.

  17. Call the TV station again. And again! Call a tree-trimming company. Call roofers. Hell, call the cable company. Call the TV station and tell them that they'll have a great human-interest story if they'll help arrange rescue. Don't let up!

  18. Can you spray water to a reachable area with a hose? It would give her a drinking source and cool an area she could use for relief.

    Keep us posted.

  19. Yes, the cable company. Look at the advertising they can get off of that.
    More prayers for Madonna.

  20. I hope you can get scared little Masonna down from the roof. I know if it were my kitty, I'd have climbed up that same drain pipe after her! You might also try holding a board up to the roof so she can climb down to your neighbor's deck. I had to do that once, being barely over 5 ft. tall. I was lucky enuf that the kitty knew what I was trying to do for him & walked right down the plank. Prayers that your able to get her down. Poor baby must be hungry & thirsty.
Right now I'm thinking nasty thoughts of your city's fire dept. Grrrrr!!

  21. I hope you aren't posting right now because an animal loving company is working on getting poor Madonna down and you are in the midst of getting her down and being on TV.

    Keep us posted.

  28. OMG, I can't believe no one has agreed to help this kitty! Not even the SPCA?! What the heck do we contribute to them for? I hate that so many people think "oh it's just another cat-no big deal." Like they are disposable or something. Grrrrrrrrrr.

  30. I"ve been at work all day. She is still alive but getting weak. When I left for work this am, the apt complex was going to call a pest control person to catch and release her. They did not do it. Her cry sounds so desperate. Other people are starting to come out now...but they're all just pissed off she kept them up all night and the apt. complex is letting the noise go on. I don't know what else to do!!! I'm exhausted and at my wits end. She will not make it another day. She's so hoarse. God please help us!
