  1. Madonna is already bawling to be let out. But she's in for now.

  2. Let her bawl, Lisa. It's for her own good. Mine are always yelling to go out on the deck, but I don't always let them.

  3. Oh thank God! I checked in just on the off chance. What made them come finally?

  4. No Madonna! Stay with Mama. Lisa, you know what's best for her.

  7. What a relief! I think Madonna has given up at least one of her nine lives on this little caper. Please give us the name and address of the fire station that sent those rescuers so we can give them a TDK thank you!!!

  13. Nirmal - they got her down! She is inside and OK.

  14. Thank goodness that common sense prevailed, and that Madonna (let her cry because she wants out) was scared by them and jumped.

  17. I'm sad to say that Austin sings a sweeter song than re: people and animals than it actually backs up with action. Part of the reason this finally came thru is because a TV station got wind of it.

  18. FYI, Lisa, I have a few friends at the Statesman ...

  19. REALLY???????? They need to know about this....and about the ridiculous disparity in how pet "social services" are divided...which is not by financial need, but by "east side" vs. "west side." You can be a millionaire and live East of I 35 and get all your pet svces free from the city. You can be penniless...like I was last year...and the city won't give you a dime toward a rabies shot if you live west of 35. I can't even think about it, it makes my blood pressure soar. Isn't it said...the city had to be put in a position where the TV cameras were on the way before they'd come rescue my sweet Madonna today. And I promise you, she would not have lived through tomorrow. If it had been a dog...no problem. The reasoning? Cats can get themselves out of any situation they get themselves into. And the firemen did point out that she proved it by jumping once they got up there. But she never would have jumped if they hadn't come!!!!

  20. OMG, I am weeping tears of relief to read this. On my lunch break at work today I sat outside drinking an iced coffee and prayed hard for Madonna. I tried to log on to TDK on my Blackberry but it kept showing an old page. I was so worried thinking she would die of thirst in the heat up there.

  21. On another note...were any of the kitty rescue firemen cute and single?

  22. I just got home and rushed to see the news. Thank goodness Madonna is in and safe! Madonna - never go out again!!!!

  23. Thank God. {{{Lisa and Madonna}}} I have been so worried about checking in in case there was no good news. I am so relieved, Madonna, please, never, never do that again!

Lisa, if you can let us know the name and address of the fire dept, that would be great. I, for one, would like to send them an email from the other side of the world to make them realise how far good deeds travel these days!
    {{{Lisa}}} Oh, I'm SO pleased!

  25. Lisa,I'm so relieved that Madonna is down and back with you. What a rigmarole to get help at all. Thank goodness for the fire service. I like Jcat's idea of an email from far off NZ.

  26. I l ike the email idea too. I was so afraid to open the thread this morning, then happy tears. Madonna you stay with your meoma!!!!!!!!!!

  27. Sweet Madonna is back outside again. Remember she is truly feral in every sense of the word!! The only day I was ever allowed to hold her was the day she was spayed. She stayed in last night, locked in a bathroom, because I wanted to certain her body temp got all the way back to normal, But she's asleep in a chair on the patio. My neighbor Sandy takes over Madonna and Trixie's care starting next week. But I'm a little worried. As of yesterday, Sandy was willing to take a "No" from the city. Sandy is wonderful, but deep in her heart, she's a bit of a dog person.

Madonna has a sunburn on her nose, but won't let me put even the tiniest dab of cream on it.

  28. Ooops, sorry. Me again.

I was thinking last night. I am so grateful to those firemen. Yes, CW, at least one was a "cutie," the first one that went up on the roof, but I didn't see if he had a ring or not! He was certainly the youngest! The other two...age appropriate for me...both had rings. They were ALL handsome!!

I think the captain was Jerry Beederhoffer. Nice German name! I'll find out for sure! I'm just so grateful to them!

I'm going to try to get a good photo now of Madonna curled up asleep with Mia.

  29. I am delighted that Madonna is safely off the roof.

  30. I'm with NNGM...let her cry all she wants. She'll eventually get over it. I think by letting her back outside (If the coyotes are that numerous & close) that you would be playing russian roulette with her safety. I'm so glad to hear that she's safe inside now. Bless the Firehouse for finally coming to the rescue.
BTW...My Hopper was the most feral any cat could get & now he lays by my side & smooshes his face into mine expressing his love & gratefulness for keeping him safe inside.
