  3. Hmmm. Strikes a chord. I ate dinner by myself last night and it was salad and a bean burrito!

  4. I made easy cheese enchilladas today for lunch. I laughed at the bit about people eating tortillas and salsa!

  7. It is normal for me to eat alone...perhaps my downfall is French Bread and
Brie cheese with side of fruit...I can't say no...definitely no portion control!

  8. I just eat crap by myself. Let's see, last night was dry fruit loop cereal.....

  9. Jean...before you eat the brie, try pouring melted butter over it, then brown sugar on top and bake it in the oven till it gets gooey...THEN put it on your french bread with a side of fruit. Ridiculously good.

  10. Tinafish, we should eat alone together sometime. I took a sick day last week and ate a candy bar because I didn't feel like making breakfast.

  11. Dee, I love brie that is topped with butter, brown sugar, pecans and wrapped in pastry shell then baked in an oven at a low temperature. Talk about delicious.

However, Joan, I am too lazy to cook the above delicious brie dish so I opt for whatever is handy and doesn't have to be prepared.

  12. Yes, the pecans and pastry shell is extra good! Or using a good fruit jam/preserve instead of the brown sugar. I may have to make a trip to the store now...

  13. Wow I usually have something dripping in melted cheese or covered in gravy!!

  14. Popcorn... extra butter, extra salt (sorry WWM!) That is one of my favorite comfort foods.
I almost always eat alone, so I have to be careful and make actual meals most days.

  15. If it was up to me I would have mashed potatoes with cheese, butter, cheese, salt, cheese, gravy and cheese. Sometimes I dip crackers or chips in it. Right now I'm having a cherry cheese danish for breakfast. It was supposed to be breakfast anyway (it's 3pm). Got busy, then realized I'd better eat something before I fall over!

  16. If hubby isn't home I love creamed asparagus on toast points. Sometimes I will make spaghetti sauce and eat it on crackers that I have butterd and put garlic salt on. This time of year I love tomato sandwiches. (white bread, sliced homegrown tomato and mayo)

  17. I'm with you KYkat , tomato, mayo sandwich and add a slice of sweet vidalia onion. Yummmmmmmm...

  18. When I was married and the husband (and kids) were gone, I'd eat fried chicken livers, and beets. Things they wouldn't eat.

  19. *screeches into this thread and demands to know... "WHO said salt????????"

If I'm feeling ambitious, I make stuffed bell peppers if Mr. WWM isn't here because he hates bell peppers. He says they make your hair fall out. I tell him "it's too late" and that he might as well eat them.......

  20. Joan you and I need to have lunch sometime!!! gravy, cheese, chips in gravy....Now that is heaven...
WWM, I loved stuffed bell peppers and make them all the time, ron loves them, thank goodness he hasn't heard about the hair thing! LOL

    Posted 8 months ago by 2bpurring #

  21. Oh dear - did I say 'salt' out loud ?!!?

I love stuffed bell peppers - I mix the tomato sauce with salsa. Add a little extra flavor.

Posted 8 months ago by 2 Popoki #

  22. Busted, 2P!

I make peppers the way that my grandmother did. Really the stuffing is just ground meat and rice. It's comfort food!

Posted 8 months ago by WillowandWindismom #

  23. It's my downfall.... I love salt.

I add green chilies along with the salsa. It's not 'hot' though - I can't do hot....

Posted 8 months ago by 2 Popoki #

  24. You can stuff almost anything in a bell pepper...even leftover Hamburger Helper..sprinkle cheese on top...mmmmmmmmmm

    Posted 8 months ago by 2bpurring #

  25. 2P...haven't had chicken livers in ages...I bet my kit cats would like them too minus the onions...
    Dee...brie:anytime/anyway...yay

  26. Chicken livers with scrambled eggs. Didn't care too much for it when I was a kid....but now....YUMMY!

Posted 8 months ago by oakcrone #

  27. Hmmmm. Let's see.

Let's hope WWM is on a coffee break.

Take a LARGE potato. Prick the skin all over, *whispers* rub salt all over the skin, cut a knob of butter, place it onto the potato, wrap the whole thing in foil and bake in the oven until the potato is soft. Grate a LOT of strong cheddar. Get the potato out of the oven, open up the foil, put it back into the oven to crisp up a little on the outside. Get the spud out again, cut a cross into the top and put another knob of butter into the potato, mill a lot of black pepper over the potato (*whispers even more quietly* and more salt if you like it) and smother the whole thing in grated cheese. Eat slowly and with enormous pleasure.

  28. Jean - no! No onions... eewwwww ! Calves liver with bacon - yum!

OC - never had them with eggs. Hmmmm....

Posted 8 months ago by 2 Popoki #

  29. I'm in, 2b! Oh, excuse me for a moment... *fights off WWM for mentioning the "s" word*
Gosh, WWM, I only use it on mashed potatoes, steak and lima beans, honest! I don't even cook with it!

Posted 8 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  30. Oh PM that sounds soooo good!! Today I think I went off the deep end--ate ice cream. But I blame Vicki she started the thread--or all those that talked about butter pecan because Deuter over heard. I couldn't disappoint his Lordship now could I?
