But remember you should aim for moderation in all things, including moderation, therefore occasionally you should be immoderate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Work that one out after several glasses of your favourite tipple!

I eat complete rubbish when I'm on my own! I just have cereal or soup, then use only having that as an excuse to have chocolate or some other treat!!

PM...my mom, who was raised in Spain, makes "wrinkly" potatoes...I guess it is pretty common there...you just add a ton of salt to the pot of boiling potatoes, little red creamer potatoes are best for this, wait for the water to almost boil off and they kind of shrivel up and the skin turns crisy from the salt. Very good ! BTW, today (June 16) is her 88th birthday.
And stop judging me, WWM!Jean...if Brie happened to be less expensive, I would eat it every day. I just adore it! The last time I made a "weird" concoction of fresh Cuban bread...really popular here in Tampa...slathered with butter, brie and fresh juicy pears. (Whew, I think I need a cigarette...haha! And I don't even smoke...)
-
Speaking of jams and preserves for our brie...I found this easy recipe for cherry preserves...gotta make it while cherries are not ridiculously expensive...sounds great for pancakes, french toast, etc, too...

LOL, Airy was having trouble disposing of the 'corpus delectable' yesterday. She went to bury the wrapper in the bin but had emptied it that morning, ahhhh panic.
When I'm alone I tend to sneak unsalted cashews(WWM will approve) and pretzels(I'm back in the bad books with WWM now.)Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Wow - some of you have mentioned extremely yummy food especially Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605. When I'm alone I tend to eat ice-cream (summer) or muffins, jacket potatoes, or small bits of Edam cheese wrapped in thinly sliced ham - i just love cheese!

cheese is great (copyright Instinct) Just look at the "I like Cheese" thread!
I almost never leave home without a piece of cheese. I asked my mom when I was little why they didn't make cheese slices wrapped individually. There goes another patent I could have had, sigh... :)Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

I love Brie..on crusty bread...mmmmmmm
I usually eat a baked potato( I have to try PM's recipe) or I like to fry hamburger up till it's crispy and have that with mashed or baked potato.
I also LOVE popcorn. I love it slightly scorched too. butter and *whispers* S-A-L-T.Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

My mom used to eat it that way WWM and I got used to it. I don't like it burnt, but just a little well done. Wayne thinks I am crazy..Maybe it's a comfort food kind of thing...
I wish..I wish I had my mother's stuffed cabbage recipe..she used to make that before I liked it...now I love it and wished I had her recipe. I love fried noodles and cabbage too...mmmmmmPosted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

WWM, have you ever seen a WhirleyPop popcorn maker? Hubby is a popcorn fanatic, and a friend got him one for Christmas years ago; we may have to replace it soon as it gets so much use: http://www.popcornpopper.com/24000.html
Practically guaranteed to result in awesome, unburnt popcorn.
-
We have one, Kilroy. Actually, Mr. WWM is the popcorn maker in our family and he's really good at it. That Whirley Popper is the best ever. But I scorch even microwave popcorn!

I have a weakness for Cheetos and I used to eat them if I was alone. But you know... salt.... When I was working on the Navajo Reservation, I would eat bags of Cheetos in the car while on my daily travels. Sometimes I drove 200 miles each day to go and see my little patients. The crunching on Cheetos kept me awake. But I'd arrive at the home covered in orange dust and would have decidedly orange fingers. I'm sure that Navajos thought that I was just another nut case from off of the Rez!

Oh I really want some stuffed peppers now. And PM's potato. And one I haven't seen mentioned here-Braunschweiger on Ritz crackers! YUM! It is SO bad for you but oh so good. I am lucky if I allow myself the Braunschweiger even once a year now. It's the German in me that likes that. Now the Greek in me likes the Feta Cheese on ANYTHING! Of course Ice Cream is always in season......

Wow this is a fascinating thread! How have I missed it up to now! This tells you so much about your littermates!
When I'm alone...which is a lot...I eat picnic style: cheese, olives, sliced roast chicken, grape tomatoes (I eat a half pint every day...no kidding), baby carrots, apples. I drink way too much Coke Zero. I'm off it right now because my heart rate has been staying over 100 since the move and has been unresponsive to meds. Bummer.
I have 1 real Coke for dessert. It's my favorite thing I have all day!
-
Today it's ice-cream and/or frozen cheesecake. It's too hot for "proper" food.
