im gopnna eat alone with all of u! hahahha u guys eat the best crap! actually when i eat stuf thats too 'healhty'i feel more guilty becuase im strcily against the whole let's diet to be fashionable thing. u know - people who diet and love at the gym so they can maintain these supermodel bodies...soemtimes anorexic thin even, so they can show off an act like bubbleheads kinda deal. nah, not me. i have no guilt for that pice of pie, cookie and candy bar.....esepcialy together. oddly tho, today i hate 'healhty'...i had my eggs, bacon, n hash browns, then had part of a big salad for lunch, finishing it off for dinner, and am noshing a sandwich now. it's on 8 grain bread and has lots of veggies. it was suppsoed to be mum's dinner sandwhich yesterday, but she said itl go to waste, so i was welcome to it. i was a bit worried cuz i left it in the car over night, and hoped it would be ok. it seems fine. if not, im in the right place hahah!

So tomorrow to Sunday it's just Leela and I. Wonder what I'll eat. Last night he was out and said to have something to eat since he wouldn't be home till late. I had a bowl of Life cereal with blueberries, or I should say I had a bowl of blueberries with some Life cereal! Jersey blueberries are so yummy, and I only enjoy them this time of year. We're having leftovers tonight, so it's probably cereal for dinner for the next few nights - perfect!

I eat fried butter when I'm home alone. I think my wife would kill me if she knew I liked it.

OK, I'm not gonna eat fried butter. I'm alone right now and this is what I'm having: one package diced cole slaw mix boiled with one large can unsalted tomato juice. Season to taste with Tabasco, lemon juice, and Splenda. You can have as much as you want without any guilt. I really like it.

I agree HM !!! That being the case, I only had one serving yesterday !
Oh JK - if only it were that simple ! There are 165,000 people through the Festival. However, if she makes it - tell her to go on Sunday and go to the Lakeside Stage at 2:00 pm. I'll be dancing then. I'm in the number with the pu'ilis. (split bamboo sticks) http://hulasource.com/puili.html She'll be amazing if she finds me ! LOL

Mmmm making me hungry with your menu Kilroy! Thanks 2Pop...knowing Patty she may be on a mission to meet you for me since I gave her the info about your fest! Her son is stationed in Hawaii & she had traveled there this Winter w/hubs when he got back from serving in "sand land"! Sorry, ok, now back to a food thread!

About the etymology of tapas...this is interesting...(from Wikipedia)
Tapa means "lid" or "cover" in Spanish. There are several explanations for why it has come to denote a type of food:
A commonly cited explanation is that an item, be it bread or a flat card, etc., would often be placed on top of a drink to protect it from fruit flies; at some point it became a habit to top this "cover" with a snack. It is also commonly said that since one would be standing while eating a tapa in traditional Spanish bars, they would need to place their plates on top of their drinks in order to eat, making it a top.
Some believe that the name originated sometime around the 16th century when tavern owners from Castilla-La Mancha found out that the strong taste and smell of mature cheese could help disguise that of bad wine, thus "covering" it, and started offering free cheese when serving cheap wine.
Another popular explanation says that the king Alfonso XIII stopped by a famous tavern in Cádiz (Andalusian city) where he ordered a cup of wine. The waiter covered the glass with a slice of cured ham before offering it to the king, to protect the wine from the beach sand, as Cádiz is a windy place. The king, after drinking the wine and eating the tapa, ordered another wine "with the cover."[

Dee, you are a never ending fount of knowledge. Remember the visit CatWoman made to Pipa's Mum? That was so interesting to hear about the tapas she tried. And she took Bobby!

Dee, you rock. Seriously, we got instructions on how to *eat* tapas in Spain, but none of that background.
PJ, I kind of regretted that we didn't do the traditional "tapas crawl" the way CW did with Pipa's Mum; you're supposed to go from place to place, sampling each restaurant's specialty with either beer or wine; we found a tapas place we liked in Cordoba and just stayed there, trying a variety of things. If I went back to Madrid I would try to get Mr. K to go the traditional route.
