I had to watch the Turkish Grand Prix first, so I only saw the end of the tie break and the final set. Good match. I'm glad he finally did it, but I wish he could have done it by beating Nadal. I wonder if he feels it's a 2nd class Open win.

By the way Button won the grand prix. Yay Button!

I would be so happy if it was me! As a former tennis player myself it wouldn't feel like a 2nd class win, just a fantastic win! but I understand what you mean PM!

I should be delighted to win anything!

Agreed! I never win anything! :(

I used to win raffles quite a lot, but I've never been any good at any sports. I love sport, but I have no talent at all.

Speaking of winning that Button sure must be a good racer!

He is a wonderful driver and this year he finally has a really excellent car. For the past few seasons his car has just not been good enough. As Lewis Hamilton is finding out this year, it doesn't matter how good the driver is if the car is rubbish (and vice versa).

good point! you have to have a good car! a good car + a good driver = winner! I really enjoy watching car races, always have.

I met my husband at a car track - Snetterton in Norfolk. He used to race production saloon cars.

By the time I had been going out with him a couple of months I could change a wheel faster than most people in a garage.

That is a skill not all women have! I went for a job once at a car factory for Toyota and I could change wheels faster then most of the men too!

Wheels, brakes and timing the race/lapboards were my jobs at the track. The other racers never saw me in anything other than overalls and a jacket, so when we went to the end of season dinner at a posh London hotel some of them told me off for trying to steal my own boyfriend ........ they didn't recognise me in a posh frock, with my hair up and make-up on!

Well, it's a relief he got to watch the last set at least, Kilroy! I was becoming upset ;-)
Like Federer said in one interview, he did finally beat Nadal on clay just a couple of weeks ago in Madrid, so that certainly helps. And hey - he was able to beat Soderling today in straight straight sets while Nadal lost to him. Yay, Roger!!!
I was glad to see Agassi doing the trophy presentation - that was a nice touch :) -
Yes, that's true. I like Agassi :-)

It's funny - I didn't care for Agassi until toward the end of his career. Then I really started to like him. He's a class act who's done great things for tennis. They mentioned he and Steffi played an exhibition match last month at Wimbledon to celebrate the new roof. I'm SOOOO happy they finally got that thing up!!!

betty and wilma love to watch tennis. It's so cute to see their little heads go back and forth with the ball!

The roof is only on Centre Court but at least it will mean some tennis can happen even in the worst weather. The roof can be closed in about 2 minutes!

One of our cats used to love watching football. She would chase the ball and try to bat it with her paws.

They get up on their back paws and get right up by the tv and try to "catch" the ball!

Afternoon, Everyone! I'm briefly peeking in and then heading upstairs to my quilt room to do some sewing. I don't even have to come down in time to do dinner because it's Mr. WWM's night to cook! Whoo-hoo!!!
CM, I'm sorry that you were so sick! But that doesn't sound like food poisoning. You don't get migraines by any chance, do you? If I were you, I would stay with sort of a bland diet today.
