  1. I made the statement that I'd never own another long haired cat today and I'm pretty sure I meant it. Lucy pukes up hairballs despite all the medicine I give her, leaves little clumps of fur everywhere, and then this morning had a bad case of diarrhea. You can imagine the mess she had in her fur! I put her in my glass shower to wash her off, and crazy jumped over the 6 foot shower door. Stupid me for underestimating a cat's jumping power! I think I'm going to pay the 50 bucks and shave her bald.

  2. The only solution is to keep her shaved, many people with Persians find it is the only way they can enjoy this breed. I used to have just Missy's butt shaved by the vet to keep her clean.

  3. Hahahaha! I got now two mainecoon's! I use the laxative hairballl helper which helps them poop it out! I have yet to find a hair ball but then I brush Max out 3 times a week and he washes and grooms daily hahah!

  4. Lucy is a very nervous cat. She gets upset and goes crazy. She likes to pull all the hair off her tail when she is stressed. I know that the diarrhea was from nerves. What do you do for a nervous cat?...prozac?

  5. Have you tried using a furminator or furbuster on them? It is a special comb that gets the undercoat of the dog/cat...which is what sheds. I swear by it, as I have 4 dogs, and now 3 kittens (which I wouldnt use the furminator on their baby coat)http://www.bamboopet.com/furbuster/
I also find that using that new pledge fur collector thing you can sweep on furniture to pick up hairs works great, and I just bust open the thing and clean it out (instead of throwing it away and getting a new one like they want you to...lol)http://www.pledge.com/savings/2009-1/ <---link to coupons :D and the sweeper-thingy

  6. Never heard of the furminator, but I'm definitely going to check it out. She frustrates me so bad!

  7. I have a furminator and it is a lifesaver. And yes, cats can be on anti-anxiety meds. Wolfie is on Elavil and I had a cat who was on Prozac.

  8. There is a feliway that is supposed to relax cats, you can get it in a thing like a plug-in air freshener. It seemed to help some with my nervous cat.

  9. I swear by Elavil AND the Pledge fur collector (sic), but I think the Furminater is just to rough for a medium haired or single coat cat. I took the Furminater to the barn for my horse! Elizabeth
