She didn't teach me well enough to not fall off furniture. J-man and I were just talking to some of his family on skype and i was sitting on the back of the couch. Somehow, I'm not sure how, I lost my balance and went over the back. I fell on our full recycling bin that's waiting to be taken out.
I'm ok, but laughing my arse off :)

He was talking to his auntie at the time and tried to climb over and check i was alright without dropping my laptop off the front of the couch at the same time. I did a thumbs up and called out that I was fine :) I scratch or two and maybe a bruise tomorrow but otherwise it's just plain funny :)

Just realised Airy is more like her Aunty KK than I first thought. Seems they both have trouble with either standing or sitting.

My sewing machine has a predicted arrival date of the 16th. A little annoyed by that as all the reviews of this company said that the machines arrived really quick, 3-5 days, but this will be about 10 days from when I bought it. Oh well, atleast i get it :)
I also found a Joann's only one bus ride (or a nice bike ride) away from me. Will head in this week and see what they have. Yay :)
Apart from a few projects around the house (fix a few clothes, make straps for our taiko drums) my first idea is to make a nice summer dress. I have never successfully made anything from a patter, but then again I haven't tried for many years. So I hope to pick up a pattern and some nice material :) -
My suggestions: find a pattern that has a skill level of "easy," and find yourself a nice woven cotton fabric in a print that you really like (NOT stripes! They are difficult to match). Also, I suggest washing the fabric before you cut it out, so that any shrinkage happens before you cut and stitch; be sure to do a zigzag stitch along the raw edges before you wash it, to prevent raveling. If you have any questions, page me on here, and I'll try to answer! Good luck!!

The UPS tracking says my sewing machine is in Vernon CA, not far from me :) Yay, I hope it will arrive tomorrow. My first couple of projects are around the house already. If I remember right Jymberry makes bags, right? I want to make a bag for my earthquake/emergency kit. I plan to use the big Target bag that our plates came in when we arrived (thanks to SylvesterandMia'sMomma). The material is that of the reusable bags that you buy at the supermarket. Right now it's a very big drawstring bag (so big I can fit in it). I was wondering if anyone had any patterns for bags that they can post or good instructions?
Yay, can't wait. -
I think you will enjoy your sewing machine a lot, Airy! I think Joann's Fabric's website has a downloadable pattern for a reusable bag. Here is one my daughter made: http://www.joann.com/static/project/0806/P189592.pdf
This one looks good too: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat613848&PRODID=xprd1067343
