  2. Emma, I'm definitely looking for homes for them! My house and yard are full of kitties; I cannot take ownership of any more of them personally.

Mama kitty came through surgery with flying colors. She is recuperating in her carrier for another hour or two, then I'll be letting her loose in the safe room. I need to set up an additional step to the bed, though, so she won't be so tempted to try to jump directly onto the bed (which is on risers).

The kittens are now actively meowing at me and seeking cuddling. They are adorable! (Photos tonight, if Glenn has the proper cable for transfer from my camera to my computer.)

  3. Photos will be up in a few minutes; I'll post the link to Photobucket.

Plans are going FAR better than I had hoped! Mama kitty was returned to her site this morning; she knew immediately where she was, gauging by how she clawed inside the carrier when I set it down in the small clearing. We put out food & water for her, and checked it around 3 pm; half-eaten.

Tonight, we stopped by and I rattled the food cup, calling for her. She answered, and came right away. She let me pet her once. Glenn heard two tiny faint meows from farther away in the underbrush; I only heard one. But it sounds as though Mama kitty has found her tabby kitten, even if he didn't come out with her.

So now begins the process of making sure Mama kitty comes when called (with voice and/or food), and setting up the dark green humane trap, jammed open with a bit of rebar. I want to get them accustomed to eating in the morning out of the trap; then I'll make an appointment for the kitten. Bonus: now that Mama kitty has only one or maybe two kittens to look after outdoors, their chances for survival increase.

Now, the indoor kitties. GREAT news! Two of them, the fluffy boy and the little girl, now have homes! They'll be going home in late June and early July (after their spa treatment & shots). Fluffy boy will be named Alfred (to go with the dog named Robin; can you tell a 4 year old boy with Batman on the brain named him?). The little girl hasn't been named yet.

So that leaves only the feisty little guy needing a name and a home, not necessarily in that order.

    Whew! What a day!!

  5. Me thinks the vet clipped Mama's ear a bit much. Oh well. As long as she is happy and doing well that is what matters. You are an angel to help them Anncetera. Your good karma is coming back to you for all you do for these kitties.

    They're adorable. :D

  7. SMM, I can't help but think the vet may have had to clip her ear twice (with something not quite going right the first time). I wouldn't be surprised at a slightly dull instrument, with the volume of pet patients at the clinic.

And Buttercup, they're much cuter when I'm awake than when I'm woken up by them at 3 am... sigh.

  8. You've done a wonderful job with these cats, Anncetera! That momma cat won't be having any more babies and you are going to prevent three of her current litter from having offspring. That is outstanding! I hope her other baby or babies make it and that they find their way into your humane trap. :)

  9. Ok... So today my boyfriend and I were going to take some kittens off to be sold. Well his daughter found a young black baby kitten. Its very young and little. Now I looked everywhere and so did the kids to try and find the other babies and maybe its mother, but we found nothing. We dont know where he came from or anything. The only thing I can think of is that he was left to pretty much die by his mother. So I got some kitty milk and bottol which he cannot drink out of, so I'm now using an eye dropper. I am keeping him as warm as possible and I'm thinking about putting down some warm bottol water wrapped in a towel so he can come and go as he pleases. I have a pretty thick and warm "blanket" in there for him already which he has taken to quite well. I have gotten him to go pee but I cant get him to go poop right now. I have tried and I dont know if I'm just doing that part wrong or what. I figured he has to eat every 2-4 hours because of his age. I'm guessing hes about 2 1/2 weeks maybe? I didnt take him to the vet yet but I plan to do so tomorrow seeing as to how he was found after they were closed. The other cats are rejecting him and I feel sorry for the little guy. I have taken care of other animals before but not a baby kitten that I have to actually be "momma" with. Am I missing anything or doing anything wrong? I'm not too sure how much to feed him and I plan on talking to the vet about that but if someone on here could tell me then that would be a great help! Thanks and please get back to me asap!
