  1. My cats have been just awful this week. With the diarrhea, hairballs and overeating of food I'm about to throw them outside! Any one have suggestions for some awesome stain remover? I usually use shout on my carpet, but I am out. So when I go to the store I hope to find something stronger that will get it all up.

  2. I use a homemade remedy that gets just about anything up that isn't oil based:

Mix 12 oz. peroxide with about 3 Tbsp. plain ammonia. Keep in a spray bottle but make sure you keep the top open or the bottle will expand. This has worked on coffee stains, red Slurpee stains, and even a huge chocolate chip throw-up stain from when my dog got sick. I have used it on laundry and have gotten out stains when nothing else worked. It really is remarkable---I got this recipe from a guy who used to clean carpets. :)

  3. There is a carpet stain remover called Spot Shot and it will take out anything! I buy it at Sam's Club but I think I've seen it at Wal-Mart, too.

  4. I love your cats face. How beautiful! Thanks for the recommendation. Does it work on old spots? Usually when I get the stuff up and use the stain remover it leaves a light brown mark. I can't ever get it totally up.

  5. I have a steam cleaner and couldn't live without it. I cleaned my livingroom again today. It sure helps with deep cleaning and with my allergies I can't imagine doing without.

  6. Thanks, LB, that's my baby Bailey--she loves to give kisses and is the loviest thing EVER!!!---that spray will work on old stains, too. It may not get them out COMPLETELY, but it will do wonders. Usually, I just spray and stains disappear. Once in a while, though, I'll respray and use a brush. I've given this 'recipe' to many people and they are always amazed at how great of a job it does. Like I said above, I now use it for stain removal from clothes, too. Let me know how it works for you!

  10. I swear by "Spot Shot"! It is quite powerful but you need to get the aerosol can not the hand pump bottle. I LOVE it! Only problem is it can be expensive $4.99 at Acme but I tried all toher brands and this is the best for vomit, urine even old stains! I use plain white paper towels (no prints as the ink bleeds) and just blot up the stain after a few minutes. Hope this helps!

  11. The Oxyclean I have is in a spray bottle and called, OxiClean Carpet Spot & Stain Remover....I too have used Spot Shot, but years ago, so I don't remember how it worked for me...

  12. I also use woolite oxyclean all the time. Works very well. Another odd thing I found that works is rubbing alcohol. One of my dogs go ahold of a purple pen and got the ink in the carpet and rubbing alcohol got it out.

  13. Never heard of alcohol. I'm going to try all of this. Thanks for all the advice! I'll let everyone know which works the best.
