  1. Since Vickie has been so nice to make us all hungry lately with the questions about Pie and Ice Cream, we have a Pie and Ice Cream bar tonite! All your favorite flavors are lined up (we peeked at the other threads)! Kittehs are lighting candles on the tables and brewing coffee. Come on in and have some dessert and something to drink. Unwind after your long day and have a chat!

  2. Ooooh, that sounds great! I'd love mocha java chip ide cream and pecan pie!

    How are you doing?

  3. Betty and Wilma cut some pie and scoop some ice cream! Thru the wormhole it goes! I am ok, tired but ok. Betty has been hanging by me all day!

  4. Awwww, poor Betty!

I had a long day, too. Spent a few hours this morning making my summer league tennis schedule up, then went to the post office - again. Was going to meet two friends for a birthday lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and then it turned out the birthday girl was sick and couldn't go. I had to tell another friend that I couldn't go with her today to help her with her tennis league (she runs all the tennis leagues in the area) because I had this lunch to go to. I felt bad because her business partner just moved away and I had promised to help her out. She's horrible with directions and I had promised I'd go with her to the far-away places so she wouldn't get lost and to keep her company.

Then I got to work and got flagged down in the parking lot by EBL. She told me they're having to make some changes as the gym's doing really bad. She's firing the morning girl (who I really like) and having the interns cover her shift. EBL told me the front desk manager girl will be next, possibly replaced by one of the ladies in fulfillment. I like that idea better. ANyway, EBL told front desk manager to call morning girl and let her know this. FDM called her but didn't leave a message and then told me that if the girl called, I should give her the news. I'm not going to be the one to do that! She did call and I felt horrible and I didn't say anything. Yikes!

  5. Evening MC and GD. I am having a salad with a ton of fresh veggies. The radishes are really tasty this year. The pea pads are wonderful. I have even put some cherries on the salad. I will have to wait until later to see if ice cream something to eat.

  6. GD you were not given the assignment. Personally it shows what a weasel EBL is that she isn't firing the girl herself, and she feels a need to hide behind someone.

  7. What an EBL! YikeS! I agree with SM, that EBL should fire the girl, NOT YOU! How awful! SM, your salad sounds wonderful!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  8. It is awful - especially because I really like the girl! And since annoying front desk manager is on salery, she never wants to cover for me - or the morning girl. Morning girl was going to cover for my birthday - now I guess I'll have to work :(
EBL made me fire someone once. She hadn't started here yet, but EBL asked me to call her place of reference and check that she'd indeed worked there for a year. They told me she'd just started and when I told EBL, she told me to call the person and tell her we no longer needed her. She was supposed to start the next day. I hate doing this kind of stuff - and it's NOT MY JOB!!! :(

  9. GD, things just don't get better for you do they?! I am sorry for your problems with the EBL and am so sorry you are stuck in the middle of all this mess. Hang in there girlfriend, things have got to get better!

MC, glad to hear Betty is staying close, where is Wilma? Not missing I hope after the pie passing!

Hi SM, hope all is well with you.

  10. Hi Lynn doing okay. How are you and Kay? I was thinking about Dakoda the other day--you said she isn't doing well? Something struck me that maybe she was having problems again.

  11. To all TDKers in the path of storms, as it seems the season is, please be careful this evening. The hail and wind reports are getting worse in the northern Texas panhandle and OK. Just want you to know my thoughts are with you.

  12. Hi, GD, MC, Lynn and SM! I'll have a large slice of warm apple pie with a slice of cheddar cheese on top slightly melted. Yum!

  13. SM, we are fine thanks for asking. Dakoda is doing well, I may not have phrased this right. She may have a mild form of hemithyropothy, spelling not correct, or something else going on. Because of her age (8 months) some things are too soon to tell. She is now crawling on her belly and moving quite fast!, her skills seem to be on target otherwise. Her parents are to be taking her to an orthopedic dr next week, she was at Chop in Phila last week where blood was taken, they are looking at the liver and possibly a missing chromosome. I think it's 11. I try not to look up things on the internet, it scares me, but she is a beautiful, loving, to me, normal little girl. I thank you for asking, sorry to be so long. Will keep you posted as we know anything more.

  14. Key lime pie and peach ice cream would really hit the spot tonight, along with a cup of Earl Grey tea. Anyone know how to unswell swollen ankles? My ankles have been swollen for the past few days, and I haven't even been on my feet a lot.

Posted 2 years ago by Vicki #

  15. Thanks for the update, SM. Hope all of our friends in that neck of the wood are ok.

Hey KW, how are you and how many points is that desert!! Virtual, got it!

Posted 2 years ago by Lynn from PA 6/8 #

  16. Hi all.... Send me a big slice of pie!!!! Betty, I need comfort food! It's been a day...

  17. Do you take a diuretic, Vicki? Do you have problems with high blood pressure? A doctor visit might be in order to check this out.

Put up your feet here and see if that helps. :)

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  18. Hi Vicki, no, don't know what to tell you about the ankles. Are you retaining fluid perhaps? Desert and tea sounds good though!

  19. Hi, OH. What happened today?

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  20. Hi, OP, I hear ya! (sends slice of pie folded over for OP!)

Posted 2 years ago by Lynn from PA 6/8 #

  21. KW, my blood pressure has never been high; I'm only 37.

Posted 2 years ago by Vicki #

  22. Vicki age has nothing to do with it. When was the last time you had it checked. We care.

Beautiful kitty in your avatar. Looks like my Lady!

  23. Well I know a little about delays, but not that particular one. My daughter didn't speak much and I was told she had problems--then she started in with full sentences. She didn't learn to read phonetically and had speech issues due to hearing problem. She is so far ahead of the majority of her class. Sometimes it is best to just go at your own pace. I will keep Dakoda in my prayers, but I am glad she is doing well!

  24. The last time I've been to any doctor, it was to get my leg X-rayed after I had my air cast removed.

Posted 2 years ago by Vicki #

  25. Thanks SM, all prayers are welcome and much appreciated.

Posted 2 years ago by Lynn from PA 6/8 #

  26. You can't feel high blood pressure, Vicki. You could get a quick read on it by using a free blood pressure testing machine in a local pharmacy. I have had blood pressure issues since I was in my 40s. It is well-controlled with medication.

  27. Vicki if you have ingested a larger amount of salt it can cause swelling--drink water. Make sure you have 64oz a day. Also if the swelling isn't going down make sure your cirrculation is good. You can wear compression stockings. You can get them at Wal-Mart, and they help with cirrculation.

  28. Well, I'm due to have my prescription refilled for Paxil CR in about a week or so (I take it for anxiety disorder), so when I zip over to Walgreens I'll try the machine there.

Posted 2 years ago by Vicki #

  29. Here is a webpage that talks about possible reasons for swollen ankles: http://www.medicinenet.com/swollen_ankles_andor_swollen_feet/symptoms.htm

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  30. Vicki, when was your cast removed? sorry if this is a repeat question and it was recent. I agree with KW advice, keep a check on your blood pressure.
