I've noticed a lot of new folks posting in the last month or two and wonder how people found their way here. What is your story? :)

Hi KW! I heard about TDK from Susie (feral) and from day one I could see why this group felt like family to her and in no time at all I was hooked myself. I laughed, I cried, I learned, and I prayed. Even on days when I'm not feeling well or busy it's hard to stay away. =)

Well I found those 3 lil rascle kittens and needed to find some help somewhere, and just landed here...I am so glad I am here, and since the forum is so active, helpfull, and friendly, its hard NOT to come here everyday...to read or post a tidbit...

I posted this on the I Love My TDK Family the other day. It actually has been about 4 years now at the end of the month:
Over 3 years ago my baby Sox came into my life. And so did TDK. I would look at the kitten pictures and read the posts. Then the unthinkable happened and Sox was diagnosed with feline leukimia and died. I went to my church and was crying--people thought I was nuts because it was just a cat. Actually he was a 9 month old kitten. I needed someone to understand. I posted. Huddy's Mama, Instinct, Chester, MerD, Catwrangler, Ivory Bill, Bumblebee, Sharon, Renee, and so many that I know I have forgotten to mention were there to help me through the pain. The tornado had also hit the week before, and the town was in shambles. In this community I was able to find some support to help keep me going in those dark days--and they were pretty bleak. I have seen some wonderful people leave here and my heart aches for them. Instinct and Intuition were very dear to me. Instinct sure could get my hackles up, but I was made to look at myself and Learn! What a great teacher. I wish they were still here and pray that someday they may return. There are more new friends as the years march on, and I am thankful for each and everyone. Thank you KM for giving this venue and building a community. Thank you TDK family.

I also found TDK through Cat in the Sink. My daughter had sent me a picture from that site because it reminded her of one of our Abys.
I use to wonder how people got to the TDK when they had just found orphan kittens and needed advice. Then I put "kitten won't poop" into Google search and up popped this site. LOL

KK told me about it. I lurked for about a year then took a deep breath and posted my first ever chat room post. Still here after almost 3 years.

I don't remeber how I had found TDK. I think I clicked on a cute kitten picture from google and it led to here and on that very same day my little Rocky got sick and I needed some comfort so I posted right away.

LOL, that's one way we all teach each other here. I have a large Rand McNally road map of the US and really enjoy checking out where TDKers live on that.

I, too, was drawn to TDK by my Yahoo page, a long time ago. I'm so glad I happened on to this place because everyone here is just great. It's funny when you tell people that you belong to a "kitty chat room" (hey, that's cute "kitty chat room, or kitty cat room" --ok, I'm rambling), they look at you like you're nuts. But if they were cat lovers and had the time, they'd be as addicted as we all are. I plan to keep my family informed about TDK, because if anything happens to me, I want them to contact you and let you know what's going on. Then, too, we all seem to have our special contacts here, who would totally worry if a friend didn't show up for a while---that's what friends are for, right?
Anybody know how we could find out when we initially came to TDK? I mean the original one, not just the chat room.

A friend sent me the link to see the daily kitten pictures. After about six months I checked out the forum here. Lurked for a long time. Then a little over a year ago I first posted with a question about my Mandi cat's irritable bowel syndrome. Sometimes I read and post regularly, other times I don't manage to do much more than check out the kitten picture each day.

Yes, go back to the main page, and down lower right to the previous postings. "Kitten Archives"

I also found TDK through Yahoo. I was just setting up my Yahoo home page one day and was looking at all of the categories that I could choose from, and the sites that were available in each category. Of course I went to the one about pets and there I saw The Daily Kitten and added it to my home page. For the longest time I just looked at the kitten each day and would show it to Mr. WWM. He kept saying, "Well, our girls should be the Daily Kittens. Send their picture in!". And so I did. And the very next day, to my great amazement, they were the featured kittens! All that day we read the comments (some of which I didn't understand but I do now!) and thought how cute they were. I went and sort of lurked around reading the chat threads but didn't join in. Then we took our girls to the spa. Although we have both had cats all our lives, these two are so spoiled (later in life children) that you would think we had never taken kitties to the spa before. So I posted. And everyone was so supportive and had such great advice. It's history since then. Just look at what I have become - a TDK addict!

I found it through one of the other websites as well, something like Cute Overload or Stuff on Cats. I don't remember when it was, but it was around the time that Jerry/Chester passed away. I was impressed that a group of people who only knew each other through the internet would pull together to set up a memorial and the TDK fund. Of course now I know what a wonderful family TDK is!

That's right SoxMom. I used to be Hootiesmama before he went to the bridge. He went in 2005. Could it be that long???????? Wow! From TDK I found catster somehow. Sammy was my first catster page. I think I got here from Yahoo home page too, as I added it to myyahoo.com/home page and after a while that link didn't work anymore. I came after Jerry/Chester passed away.

I took an internet class to become more familiar with using it....... our instructor suggested we "join a social" site - something that interested us, and get used to using it...... Facebook? no, my kids are all over that... My Space? no, too wild for me...... so I googled my obsession - cats and people that love cats.... TDK popped up.... I lurked for a LONG time before I got up the courage to post..... as I began to get to know the people that posted, I realized what a warm, loving group this was.... then about a year ago, my little orangie, Milo, went to the bridge, so I jumped in..... never regretted making my appearance, and like so many others - HAVE BECOME ADDICTED!!!!

Like many others mentioned, my Yahoo home page suggested checking The Daily Kitten. After lurking for a little while, I decided it was time to join the group. Then KittenMaster did a marvelous thing and set up this chat forum and now we have the best site in the world.

I found this site through another favorite of mine, the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, it's a link at the bottom of the page. I have been looking at the daily pics for about a year and started reading the chats about the time Renee passed away. I was amazed at how everyone came together, it was obvious that you all knew each other outside of the site. The camaraderie and my love of kitties prompted me to start posting recently and make Catster pages for my little babies Tux and Ginger ;o) I check this site out every day and even if I don't post I'm with you all in spirit.
Note to Sox's Mom - I am sorry that the folks in your church weren't supportive, you would like my church. This past Sunday, our minister included prayers for a couple of members in the congregation who just lost their longtime pets (she didn't say if they were cats or dogs). The best part was she prefaced it with "some of you may have a problem with this but if you do it's your problem and not mine". All God's creatures are precious!!

When I saw the title to this thread, I couldn't quite remember how I found TDK. Then I read the posts--I think, like a few others have said, I must have found TDK through the "Cats In Sinks" website. Or maybe the "Kittenwar!" website, if there is even a link from there. Anyway, I sure am glad I did find it! I just looked at pictures for a long time before I ever posted. Then I finally started lurking in the chat room. It is so nice to be around people who feel the same way I do about kitties!

JRoc, Joan's sister, led me to the Rainbow Bridge site years ago.....then recently, JRoc said her sis suggested she check out TDK when her Chinook was not well, and JRoc led ME to TDK, too! I didn't get alot of what was going on, but soon learned! LOL.
AnnieR...sounds like my kind of minister!!!! -
I found this site when setting up my yahoo home page. That was in 2006. A few months before I had found Leggs and brought her home. After she had Moe and Calli...I was always taking their pictures. You would have thought that they were my babies instead of hers! Well..I had never had a cat that had kittens so I was a proud meow mommy! I would show them to people but they didn't seem to be impressed. That was when I decided that I would submit their pictures to a site that would truly appreciate them. So in December 2006 Calli was chosen. I was so excited. I look back now and see that Caroline, Lynn in PA, Arcalian, TinaFish, Renee in Arkansas, Rainingwolf and some others that are still here left comments about Calli. I noticed that most everyone included their state or country on the end of their names. At that time I was afraid to use my real name because they always warned against doing that and I had never posted anything before on the internet so I joined as ILoveMyCatsinTX but then shortened it when the chat room was set up. Isn't it amazing how time flies? It honestly doesn't seem that long ago! I am very glad that I have gotten to know a great bunch of cat loving, caring, considerate and sometimes crazy group of people!

I found this site by looking for any and all stuff having to do with cats on the web after Calvin passed. Was so sad without him that all I wanted to do was look at pictures of cats all day and I came across this site. At first I only would look at the daily kittens and then realised there was a chat section later. I didn't post until after I got Mogley. You all gave me such a warm welcome that I instantly felt attached to this site.
