Like several others up above, I arrived via MY YAHOO page. I was setting it up and found "The Daily Kitten" and thought oh how cute! It took me what seems a lifetime to figure out there was more than the first page! Then I came over and lurked. I signed up and got a password and for the LONGEST time could not get it to work. I finally emailed KM and he sent me another one, no dice. Finally, on the third try the password worked and I promptly changed it to an easy one! I still lurked for quite a while and one day said to myself that it was time to announce myself and I did! After that, I was hooked and still am! WWM, I had no idea your girls were the TDK, when was that?!?

I've been wandering the halls of TDK and gazing at the day's kitten for so long I'm not sure how I got here. I will guess that I got it thru Yahoo when I was customizing my page.

My niece told me about this site. That was sometime in 2005 and I was known as ppearson back then. I jopined back when if there were 20 comments it was a big day...and then we started talking amongst ourselves. Huddy's Mama used to try to be one of the first ones to post and she would put the kittens in her back pack and threaten anyone with pitchforks if they tried to kitten nap what she had already taken! I would encourage her to bring the kitten to the sharing circle. Then we would talk about what we wanted for breakfast. Dee would post interesting links and talk about wines with Catrancher. Brandi Lee would talk about her beautiful bengals and Instinct would threaten people with his flaming Pu Dao. There was lots of fainting over cute kittens and Pipa's mum had to invent the Cuteness overload airbags. Ivory Bill posted poems and Terri shared Bogman stories. Pretty soon the comments go so long and convoluted that KM broke us out into our own chatroom. This group has helped people through so many hard times: illnesses, loss, divorce, bad days that wont end. And through so many good times: marriages, new babies furry and non furry, new jobs, great days, fabulous recipes, meets and silliness.
I can't imagine life without you people and of course the lovely kittens we get to see every day.

Ahh yes, the backbacks, HM's pitchfork, the sharing circle, running around like nuts weilding our whack-bonk sticks, IB's poems, Instinct's Pu Daos (he spent a lot of time perfecting that). I remember Chester/Jerry posting about how he felt bad for the kittens who didn't get as many comments because they were posted on holidays or weekends. I remember Catrancher's Maine Coons. I remember reporting on a comment left on the very first kitten because it was inappropriate and offensive and our awesome KM promptly removed it.
I remember watching this group form and grow and become a family, and, of course, each day's beautiful kitten.Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

I don't know when I found TDK - long before there was a chat room. When the chat room appeared I created an account but didn't post until recently. I rarely came to the chat rooms until recently.

I am not sure how I found about TDK but I think it happened this way:
I was told about "The Infinite Cat Project" ( http://www.infinitecat.com/ ). The "Catsville" page of this site has several links and Daily Kitten is one of them. I first visited TDK a long time ago but I have registered only recently.

my kizzykat was very sick and died dec 17th,2008 i was on the website allnurses.com and made a thread about my cat being sick and was about to die. someone on allnurses recommended this website so i posted here. so i started coming here and i was heart sick when kizzy passed away. i don't know who it was that brought me to this website, but i am so grateful. i wonder who it was that suggested i come here? it had to be one of our nurses that post here.
anyhoo... i am so glad i came here. i would not of made it through that deep grief if it wasn't for my TDK family. i was allowed to share my feeling and cry and i was given hope again. emma wrote a christmas story with kizzy and the others at the bridge welcoming her there. i cried through that whole story and still cry when i read it. Kizzy was alive again at the bridge, and emma i love you for that story.
i consider you all family. thank you for accepting me .

I think I found this thru "I Can Has Cheezburger". As a lot of you have confessed, I lurked - smiled & "aaawwwwdd" for a couple years. Yesterday was my first post! My name is Joany & I'm a TDK'r and don't have plans to stop! I've truly never been brought to tears so many times on one site. Some are sad tears but more times than that, smiling thru the tears. Thank you and looking forward to many many more posts!

I found it on Yahoo & have enjoyed viewing comments until partisipating rescently...I am pleased to have kitty cat friends thru the wwweb. My special
sister (deceased) Sue and I had a common love of cats...always said we would open a Kitty Botique together...that is happy memory history. I presently have two cats, Dottie and Crockey which I share from time to time with you! -
I am so happy to see so many new "faces" to add to our TDK family!

Hi Y'all! I think I found TDK on yahoo myself. I too, started before there was a chat room. My friends still look at me like I am kinda crazy when I go on and on about the daily kitten. I have started calling my dogs the goggies and of course, the explanation was not a short one. You know how it is in the South, we have to make everything a long story. One of my favorite things; I was on a road trip in North Carolina with a long time friend. We were driving down the road and I recognized the name of a town that Chester's Place was located in. I was really excited, then we passed the sign for the no kill shelter where Chester's Place actually was. I made Cathy stop and take my picture by the sign as it was after hours. I coaxed Cathy into driving up to the shelter just so I could see it from the outside. I was so excited that the lady that runs the shelter was still there. I explained who I was and she invited us in. I got to see the cattery that we all donated to in honor of Chester/Jerry upon his death. The Daily Kitten has held my virtual hand more than once. I had a terrible accident @ 18 months ago and I could feel the healing powers of TDK surround me. I miss those that don't post anymore and I truly miss the ones that have passed before me.

Tina! I am so glad that you actually got to visit Chester's Place. How is your summer looking? Any free Caturdays for a Memphis BBQ pig out and meet?
