  4. HI!!!! Just got home and whew....It looks like I'm gonna live after all...I'm still stunned and confused but after a vaginal exam, rectal exam, and ultra sound...There was no evidence of cysts or tumors. Yayyyy! As far as a clear explanation as to any thing else....I'm afraid I'm not the best at questioning medical authority and it seems that all the responses sound so clinical that I still don't know the answer to the question when I get it. I swear...I'm not dense but with all the worry that I went in with I should have written my questions down but I haven't had a thorough exam like that in over 22 yrs. He's treating me for a bladder infection after all is said and done. I'm angry with the Dr. I went to on Tues. who could have treated me for the same thing (given the blood HE found in my urine) and then instructed me to go into emergency if it didn't clear up after that. This I find Puzzling. Thank you for your prayers...I'm convinced they worked just as they are meant to. Hugs to you All!!!! =)

  7. Thank you Karen and Bless You! I am thankful it is a bladder infection--much better than the colon issue! You take your meds and rest and relax!

  8. YAY!!!! GREAT news, Karen!!!
I think in this days and age, doctors are so afraid of liability and lawsuits they'd rather just send you on to a hospital and wash their hands of the whole thing. It's happened to me once when there was absolutely no need for me to go to the hospital and the doctor could have helped me.

  9. WHEW!!! I am glad you are back and I pray your infection clears up and that will be that!

  10. What a day for you Karen! Glad you are back and it is nothing major.

  11. I was flabbergasted that the unltra sound all by itself is an $800.00 test. Tuesday's Dr. could have saved myself and the hospital alot of money with a simple prescription......BUT then I wouldn't have had the complete relief of knowing for sure that everything is fine after so many years without any checkups.
The antibiotic is kind of scary....Generic for Septra. Was told to stay out of the sun completely (even on cloudy days) because of hypersensitivity to the suns rays while taking it...Yikes!

Thanks again everyone! Been up since 5:00 a.m. think I'll lay down for a while! Sigh! =D

  12. I had a bladder infection a few years back. It was absolutely horrible. I remember the antibiotics working wonders - but I also remember having to stay out of the sun.

  13. Oh karen, I am so glad to hear you are home!!! WOW, sounds like they worked you over good. I am glad all you needed was antibiotics. OK now for the rest of the week rest & relax!!! {{{KAREN}}}

  15. I guess I'm going to have a sharp word or 2 with that girl...you guys found out what was up before even I did. I guess I'll go IM her & get a run-down if she hasn't gone to take a nap yet. I feel so left out. :(

  19. *comes to slowly after having fainted and fallen on the floor*

Karen, I am SO glad that you are home and so glad that a treatable condition was found. You needed all of those tests, not just a prescription. But I am wondering how they explained the bowel issues that you've been having?

Having had UTI's, I know that they are no fun. So take all of your medicine, even after you begin to feel better.

Don't make me put on my nurses cap, now!

*sits down due to still feeling faint with relief*

  20. I am so glad to hear the happy news!!!!

Posted 5 months ago by corzak #

  21. Karen - Oh, what a relief to hear that you something relatively simple and very treatable! UTI's are the pits, but at least you have your medication and it will get better! Take care, and like your nurse says, be sure to take it all! :-D

  22. Hi Corzak, somehow I've missed seeing you here before. Your avatar is adorable!

    Hi Rubia!

Karen, I'm glad you got an answer (sort of) and that action is being taken. Feel better soon!

  24. I'm so glad! I just had to log in to see if there was any news. UTI's are nasty, but at least they are treatable. Hmmm, years ago when Gibbie had UTI problems the drug of choice was Clavamox. I loved going to the pharmacy to pick it up, and have them ask "Is Gibbie on your insurance?" I guess they didn't know what the (feline) in the middle of his name meant.

I'm so happy for the good news!

  25. Karenopa, I am very glad it wasn't anything serious afterall. Scary situation for you though. Sending some hugs and gentle headbonks and purrs from Sylvester and Mia.

  26. Karen, relieved to hear all's OK - you must have been worried, so pleased you've had such a thorough check up. You can rest easy now!

  27. <waves WWM with church fan and gives her a hanky and some tea> borrows Nurse cap for a minute. Karen are you on any blood thinners, aspirin, coumadin, plavix? If you are are you getting your INR tested? If not that could make you bleed from anywhere more easily. <Hands cap back to WWM,wipes the chocolate off(oops)>
Joins happy dance for simple UTI being the cause!!!!!

  28. What's this on my nurses cap????? *trys a little lick - OH!* Yep, Karen could be on blood thinners due to her heart attack.
