So glad to hear the good news, Karen, now take your meds and get some rest. Poor WWM is falling all over the place over this! Please keep us posted on your recovery and do everything the dr told you to do to stay well. So happy for your outcome. Love mama Lynn

Talked to Karen earlier she is doing good, but is tiered from getting up so early. At least it was just a bad UTI and nothing worse.

Thanks Katthays....I'm doing pretty well today. Relieved in one sense but like WWM stated the other day all the symptoms seem to indicate more than one thing going on and only one was truly dealt with. I think I need to research Irritable Bowel Syndrome and that will put me well on my way to having all the answers. =)
Hahaha! I think in a couple of days I'll actually be able to join the conga line but don't expect me to do it on a raised dance floor....I'd probably break my neck! LOL! =) -
It is NOT a raised floor for the conga line, just a regular floor! I think there are too many of us that might fall and break something! So glad you are feeling better Karen! Keep getting better!

Karen, I've posted many times before about my digestive nightmares!..... I swear by two things.... a good probiotic.... and read "the Makers' Diet" by Jordan Rubin..... this book really helped my restore my digestive system after I almost died from having a severe allergic reaction to an antibotic I was given, and it caused Ulcertive Colitis!.....
-
Thank you very much AV! By probiotic do you mean cultured yogurt. Like activia?
*running to research probiotic*Back:
Hmmm..I've been drinking Acidophilus milk for a while but not daily. Maybe I should start drinking a small glass each day and see if it helps. I know it's a bad thing to depend on caffeine for anything but if it wasn't for my morning cups of coffee I think I'd be in big trouble. =(
-
I too, have digestive nightmares but mine is due to an emergency colon resection in 2003. I agree with AV those are both GREAT ideas!

Karen,
a probiotic is so much more than simply acidophilus, it does contain acidophilus, but also has more more of the "good" bacteria that needs to be put back in your system. Ask your health food store for the best one they sell, I buy mine from my doctor - it is pharmacutical grade. I can tell you that the pharmacutical grade ones do not have to be refridgerated (they are THAT good)... many in the health food stores will need to be kept refridgerated to keep them active, but if that's the best you can find, that's ok. ((hugs))...... congas back to the Cafe.... -
Karen, Wayne has IBS and our doctor told him to cut the caffeine. So now he only drinks a small amt of caffeine once in a while. It worked wonders for him!

I'm glad you are feeling better, Karenopa. By the end of the weekend you should be in pretty good shape.
It is possible that the UTI caused a lot of problems that you wouldn't ordinarily equal with your bladder. You should still do some research on IBS, and a probiotic is a good idea whether you have IBS or not. But you might be surprised how many of your symptoms disappear when the infection is cleared up. Things are pretty tight in abdomens so distress in one organ can easily lead to distress in all its neighbours. So, that's what I'm hoping for you - the UTI goes away and all your other symptoms go with it.

Karen, I'll send you some stuff via email on IBS. I'm still concerned about those bowel symptoms. Do you get enough fiber in your diet?
