  1. It is still pretty...sat outside for lunch after reading news: They caught the mean cat culprit in FL!!! Time to put an end to animal abuse/violence! Also read the joke for today Kitncaryle...always fun about kitty's. Had to check in & say have a great afternoon/pm if I can't post until Tuesday...

  2. Yogurt was the other thing my cats got into. I have had to pull yogurt containers off Teaser's head--she gets a little stuck! She prefers the kind with fruit to the whips. Deuter is an ice cream thief! He will just walk into your dish and say "You can eat it with my fur or just turn it over to me!" He seems fond of butter pecan minus the pecans!

  3. LOL, SM!
My Granddaughter said I should have taken a pic of Gizmo with his face full of cottage cheese.....but the neat freak in me grabbed a paper towel and started cleaning him off :)))

  4. Katthays, the visual of your kitty with it's face in the cottage cheese tub is so funny! Jean, you are lucky you get to walk to work. I have drive down a highway that is considered one of the worst in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am working on trying to find a job closer to home but trying to land a different job is like trying to win the lottery.

CM, so you are going brown. How dark are you going to go? SM, I am sorry you were locked out. Of course you know Deuter was laughing at you. Cats laugh a lot at us, that is why a number of them enjoy being with us.

Kykat, sounds like you had a very nice trip to Louisville. Speaking of tomatoes, can you make some stewed tomatoes with those that you got or are they better for a salad or a marinara sauce? My Dad use to make stewed tomatoes (need to get his receipe if he has one) that were out of this world. Yum.

I had another one of those weekends that one would like to forget. Went to a life celebration (party instead of a funeral) for my Dads friend (who was his best man at my parent's wedding) and I ended up getting upset seeing people who I recognized but they didn't recognize me. I felt a bit unwanted, ignored and basically a non-entity. So I went home to cry. Both kitties came and consoled me Saturday night with Sylvester sleeping with his head almost resting on my check and Mia up against my side. Sunday was spent with some installers who came to install new mailboxes. They proceeded to bang away making so much noise that my cats were cowering in my bedroom. I had to go close the windows to help calm them down. The noise proceeded for about 3-4 hours from 10am-3pm.

Oh and on Saturday around 4am, the calico cat came and got the two baby doves that were ready to fly. It killed and ate them and left a pile of feathers at the base of the stairs to the front door/courtyard area. This is now batch number 4 that has been eaten by the cat. Batch number three was killed by the same cat. When batch #3 was killed, I mentioned to the property manager that I wanted to remove the nest. Maintenance guy overheard me and said you are not going to remove that nest. They were there first and they are doing what comes natural (actually I moved in and the nest was built maybe five months later). Well, yesterday I notified the same maintenance guy about batch #4 and he said, if I catch that calico cat near the nest again, the cat will breathe it's last breath. This to me means he hates cats and will kill it. So I responded to him and said, the cat is doing what comes natural and that is eating birds. Anyways, I am going to mention this to the property manager and let her know I am now concerned for the safety of my cats if he has to enter my unit to fix something. It is possible he may be one of the people who purposely scares them so they come flying into the apt when he walks by in the glass enclosed walkway.

  5. I walked in on Wilma once with her head in my yogurt! Funny thing was she had a ring of yogurt around her face! It was so cute but Betty got right to her and licked it off before my camera was ready! It was just regular plain yogurt which I thought she would hate!

  7. I got to thinking about "last year this time" over the weekend. I remember remarking to hubby that we could leave dinner on the counter unsupervised for the first time in years! It was the window of time that we were without kitties. Shaddo had left us, but we had already met Lacy, who we re-named Leela and were anxious to love a new generation. It will be 1 year next Monday that I picked her up. Aside from getting used to raising an indoor only kitty for the first time, we have not introduced her to people food - with 2 exceptions. One is tuna water, because, what do you do with tuna water other than give it to the cats??? Leela having a taste for that is good for when she is older and needs meds. Also, I once let her lick the paper plate that had some of my grilled cheese on it because Leela and I were trapped in our house with the contractor and no privacy. We stuck together like glue that day!

  8. {{{Joan}}} I'm so glad you have Leela and she has you. It's been a little more than a year since we got George - what a year it's been! Oh, and he's about to turn 2 (we decided to give him June 18th as a birthday; it was hubby's nephew George's birthday).

  10. ((SMM)) Sorry about your weekend and the baby doves. Nature happens...I hate it though.
I went kind of dark SMM, but it will fade with washings I am sure. I have a link to pictures on another thread..

  11. I haven't given George any human food, but hubby is another matter entirely. And then he complains when George begs at the table!! I just tell him that's what he gets for being a pushover. I've given up trying to get hubby to do or not do anything when it comes to the cat, but I don't have to be quiet about the consequences.

  12. Thanksgiving in this house it horrible because hubby fed turkey to Teaser. He grinds some for her, and she loves it! She smells the turkey and goes nuts! I have to fight her to stay out of the turkey!

  13. LOL at Teaser! You know a good thing when you find it!

    Posted 9 months ago by mollycat71 #

  14. But it is hard to explain cat hair to guests.....many frown on charcoal gray fur on the turkey. I however have a coffee cup that states "Everything is better with cat hair!" Sox used to love coffee--he would try and get into my cup all the time!

  15. SM, one thanksgiving at my aunt and uncle's place we had an incident with the cat. My aunt took the turkey out of the oven, placed it on the carving block for it to be carved by my uncle. My aunt went out to put other things out on the dining table and when she came back in to the kitchen, their cat Fuzzy decided that the Turkey was warm and smelled good and had curled up around the turkey. My aunt and uncle caught the cat doing this. Luckily they both love the cat and so they washed the turkey off, took some of the drippings from the pan and poured it over the turkey and then carved it up and served it. The only people who knew at the time were my aunt and uncle. I wasn't here as they are are out on Long Island and this was the "east coast" thanksgiving.

  16. Only cat people can appreciate that Turkey story!

  17. Turkey! Shaddo and Jiggs went gaga for that! Growing up, we ALWAYS had to keep the kitties confined to the basement at Thanksgiving. Can't leave a turkey unattended for a minute!
When I gave Leela tuna water (she's had it twice), I hide it for a while give it to her waaaay after I'm finished with my tuna. I'm hoping that this way she dcesn't associate opening a can of tuna with an instant treat and an excuse to make mama eat her tuna sandwich on the rooftop!

  18. My kits Looooooove tuna water, but aren't crazy about actual tuna. for me the Tuna water also serves to distract them from the fact that I am eating.
