Having had to have my neck held in the worst position possible for the scan on Friday, I've been suffering pretty badly with it ever since...and had to stay off work today because I wasn't safe to drive (aside from the fact it hurts like hell). I'm off tomorrow anyway, and have an appointment tomorrow afternoon to see what the results say. My pessamistic imagination is running riot; I want it to be something they can do something about, but I don't want it to be anything serious...I'm a bit scared to be honest. Could do with with a few flashes of the famous white light if there's any going spare...

White light coming your way. Most important is getting you well in time for the big trip!!!!!

{{{{MCW}}}} Hugs and white light coming your way. Georgie sends gentle nuzzles.
Focus on the fact that you're doing what you need to do to solve the problem. That's far better than sticking your head in the sand and ignoring things, so brava for you.
What time's your appt tomorrow? I think we could manage a TDK swarm for you if you need company, or at least we can all aim our white light in your direction at the same time.

Thanks guys. Kykat put her finger on it, I'm really worried it'll still be rubbish come September, and I'll be doped up to the eyeballs when I meet you all. That's if they even let me into the country carrying that much medication!!!
Kilroy, the appointment's 3pm, so that's 10am NY time? Mind you, our hospitals aren't too great at running to time...!

LOL at Molly! It's a tiny waiting room at the pain clinic, so that could be quite funny. Chris has got time off work to come with me, it feels a bit dramatic to ask him, but just in case it isn't great news I want him there.

My ex used to tell me about that! He was English and was amazed when he would take me to the doctor here. He said that everything was so organized and ran so smoothly! We will take you no matter how you come, believe me I am up to MY EYES in pain drugs right now! I will understand completely!

MC, are you still in pain?
MCW, have you tried an ice pack for your neck? Holding it in a funny position while you had a scan may have caused some muscles to inflame.

Yes, they said the pain can last up to three months acutely and my neck muscles can hurt up to 18 mos as they get new neuron innervation and growth. It is still quite hard to hold my head up for long periods. I saw one of my therapists/employees today and he said I was the "tightest" in the head and neck he has ever seen in nearly 20 years of practice. I am now putting heat and my e-stim machine on several times a day! UGH!

That's exactly it CBM, there's something causing a nerve to be trapped, possibly a disc out of place...I have a real problem holding my head properly upright, let alone slightly back, and that's how it was held for the scan. Funnily enough heat helps it most, just typical when we're having a bit of summer over here!

Molly, have they got you on neural pain blockers? That's what's helped me the most, but they're the size of horse pills!

I couldn't take those as they made me throw everything up! I couldn't move and I wasn't throwing up! They helped with the pain but they didn't help with food intake!

Aw! Button's curled up behind me on top of the sofa, the closest she can get when I'm on the laptop! (actually not true, she sometimes comes and sits on the laptop and demands cuddles...so cute!)

{{{{{{{{MCW}}}}}}}}} I'm so sorry that this is still going on but am praying that they will be able to determine what the problem is and to come up with a treatment plan.
And we don't care if you're doped up when you come in September. Maybe it will keep you from making comments about my age! :-)

WWM, I'll be too busy reeling from the shock of turning 40 to make comments about anyone's age!!!
Kilroy - Eric is like that, he gets very purry and loves rubbing round ankles, but woe betide you if you drag him on your lap for a cuddle! It's the law of averages...you need another cat! :o)

White light and good thoughts for you, MCW. And for Mollycat, too. There's always plenty to go round.

Funny story, WWM; at the Porter's luncheon MCW and I were commmiserating about turning 40 and Polly's Mum asked us rather emphatically to "shut up!". A couple of weeks later I overheard someone in the newsroom on the phone going on about her recent birthday and how she was getting old and creaky - the punchline was, she just turned 24!! And I wanted to pull a PM and say "Shut up!" So I guess it's all relative :)
