  1. LOL, Kilroy! So now I know exactly what to say to MCW - "Shut up!!!"

24???? *wanders away muttering about people in diapers being allowed to work in a newsroom*

  2. My good wishes, prayers and thoughts as well as lots of white light are coming your way, MCW. I've been through neck surgery, too, having had a tumor (benign) removed from my spinal cord. My scar starts up above my hairline and continues about 8 inches down my spine--looks like a zipper! And I've got a matching one down in the lumbar area, too!! I truly hope you're able to find out what is wrong and get some relief. Even if surgery (God forbid) is necessary, they have improved the methods so greatly it's hard to believe. Mollycat is a prime example of what can be done-I still can't believe she came home just 3 days later!! When I had my surgery done, they didn't even wake me up for 3 days!! God bless!

  3. I'm sorry that both you ladies have sore necks. I guess I don't have enough brains to make my head too heavy for me to hold up. LOL

  4. Just saw this thread and want to send healing white light that your neck issue is treatable and not something serious. Sending prayers and gentle hugs too. Sylvester sends some of his famous mellow rumbling purrs to help calm and sooth you. Mia sends some sandpaper kisses.

  5. CURE for neck pain=Motrin(ibuprofen)+hottub(bath, heating pad) + copious amounts of alcohol+the right pillow+massage. It is all in the pleasure of ........!

  6. Thanks to all and goodnight to all, I'm going to dose up and head for bed. One thing, I do at least sleep well with these tablets!

  7. MCW sorry to hear you are still in pain. Prayers that tomorrow you will have some solution at the doctor. Was hoping to catch you before sleep--wondered how the weather was. You said yesterday was a day to be in an outdoor pub--that is exactly where she ended up eating fish and chips.

Lord Jesus Christ, by your patience in suffering you hallowed
earthly pain and gave us the example of obedience to your
    Father's will: Be near MCW in her time of weakness and pain;
sustain her by your grace, that her strength and courage may
not fail; heal her according to your will; and help her always
to believe that what happens to her here is of little account if
you hold her in eternal life, our Lord and our God. Amen.

  8. MCW...I hope your neck problem is something easily fixed. It sounds painful.

And as far as 40 goes...geesh...your just a kid yet. :)

OOPS! My bad...A Ton of Prayers & Healing Light headed straight for you from California,USA!!

  9. Owies! Sending white light that the problem can have an easy fix so that your trip is pain free. You don't have AC do you. When I ruptured a disc in my lower back (but didn't know it for a long time) I used the heating pad as an excuse to turn the AC up as far as it would go.

  11. **UPDATE**

Sorry for the delay guys, clinic was running late & I had to fight through traffic to drop Chris back at work, and then again to get home (with a couple of errands on the way).

So - the good news is that it isn't anything serious, it's a bulging disc between C3 and C4 vertebrae, and it explains all the acute pain, referred pain and hot flushes (which have virtually stopped since I've been on the neural pain blockers).

On the not so good side, there isn't actually anything they can do aboutit - except give it time and keep me drugged up to the eyeballs. There's no definitive timescale for this either, but hopefully sometime in the next 6 months things will start to improve.

So there you have it. Can you understand that I'm feeling a bit flat? Of course I didn't want it to be anything serious, but I did want some kind oc action plan. Hey ho - the local chemist is going to become my best friend...

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  12. MCW I sure was hoping that you could get some relief. I am thankful it isn't too serious, but pain is serious. Better living through chemistry isn't the way I would hope this to be resolved. I take it you go back in 6 months for a re-evaluation?

  13. I have an open appointment to go back when I want SM - and I can go up a level and play about a little with the nerve tablets to get the bext mix/results (I thought I could, but wanted to discuss it properly with the doc). My own doctor will also be keeping an eye on me. Doubtless Nurse WWM will also keep me in check!

  14. Hmmm... not bad news - that's good ! Nothing you can do but wait and medicate - dang. Was hoping some sort of therapy might be in order.

  15. No treatment plan but it is good news in a way. I am glad you don't need surgery or anything severe. Nothing wrong with a good chemist friend either!

  16. {{{SUPER GIANT HUGS FOR MCW}}}

I can 1000% sympathize, MCW. I think I've mentioned that my evil headaches have been a bafflement to doctors for most of my life (leading to lots of, "There there, dear, you're just stressed. You should take up yoga/meditation/long walks/etc"). A couple of years ago I finally found a good guy who took the time to actually figure things out, he thinks, but there's still nothing they can do other than offer me loopy pills. They never will understand how frustrating that is, will they?

  17. MCW, you might want to consider seeing a chiropractor. Regular adjustments to your neck might help the disc to go back into place. After a particularly nasty car accident my neck was an absolute mess. My neck was curving backward and the discs were starting to bulge. My chiropractor did a program of adjustments, passive traction, alternating heat and cold compresses and electric stimulation. I'm happy to say it worked and we got my neck back into the correct curvature. Many years later I ruptured two discs in my Lumbar region. I did intensive physical therapy and continued with regular adjustments and so far have been 18 years surgery free.

  18. Sorry to hear they cannot do anything, MCW. Kykat's suggestion sounds like a possibility. I have a fear of the chiropractor but they seem to help my step-mom who has some back and neck issues.

  19. I'm sorry you are having such persistent pain, MCW. I hope it resolves over time so you don't have to be on a first name basis with you chemist!

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  20. MCW, I am thinking that physical therapy could help. Have you tried that? It can help to open those vertebral spaces. Also, therapeutic massage might help.

I'm just glad to know that it doesn't involve a knife!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  21. Pleased to hear that its nothing serious, MCW. I hope you can get some suitable pain relief and/or therapy. Sending you a special beam of white light to focus on your bulging disc.

  22. OY! Well, glad to hear it's not deadly serious, but sorry it's so on going and painful :( As WWM says, can you do some more physio? oh...and what's a "gorm"? :p

Posted 2 years ago by linda #

  23. Hello all, back from a meal out with Chris. Thanks for all the support and suggestions - massage is one I'll definitely go forward with, since physiotherapy put me in this situation in the first place, I think I'll give that one a wide berth!! Like SMM, I am wary of chiropracters - I went to one once on a friend's recommendation when I very first started having shoulder & neck trouble. He did something which resulted in a giant cracking noise from my neck, and resulted in my worst migraine ever - projectile vomitting and all!!!

Too much info? Sorry ;o) I'm always open to suggestions, but haven't had the greatest experience in a number of cases. Guess this time I will leave it to Father Time and Uncle Junkie and see how it goes.

    Love my TDK Family!!

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  24. Hee hee Linda, you've been reading my blog again! Being gormless is a UK expression for being a bit stupid in a dense, slow sort of way. Therefore if I am without gorms, well I must be gormless... :o)

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  25. Projectile vomiting--please don't see that guy again!!! Bad enough when the snot wars start....

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  26. I'm sorry you're still in such pain MCW. DO try a chiropractor or an osteopath. I find chiropractic manipulation too rough, but an osteopath tends to be a lot gentler. A sports injury specialist at my gym helped me a HUGE amount last time I had back trouble. He had this magic machine ( a bit like a TENS machine but higher tech) and it really helped with the pain.

Ask around, there are lots of ways to alleviate pain as well as taking meds. I'm not knocking medication - I love it if I'm in pain - bring on the pills!! Pain is only of any use UNTIL you know what's wrong. Then it's time to get rid of it, it's done its job!

    Posted 2 years ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  27. Gosh, all this time I have thought that I was simply clueless. But now I have discovered that what I actually am is gormless!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  28. And don't forget to hit the "gruntling" water. Work it out MCW!

    Posted 2 years ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  29. Hmmm, osteopathy. Not tried that. Might look into that a bit further if things are no better in a while - it's quite possible that worrying about what "it" might be has made it worse recently, I know I have a tendancy to carry stress and tension in my neck & shoulders - maybe now I know my neck isn't about to spontaneously combust or anything things may start to improve.

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  30. Gruntling water???? PM, I'm off my head on horse pills, probably couldn't work out the way home, let alone that one!
