Joan, oh no not the flagpole! I hope that was the only damage. I will get your grits in the mail tomorrow. I was too fuzzy headed this morning to remember them!
Gini, listen to WWM. High fevers can be so dangerous.

SM, I just ran over to the farmer's market and bought 2 jars of pickled beets for hubby! I think I will go back Thursday afternoon and see what yummies I can get to turn into dinner. I am thinking corn on the cob and fresh green beans and a big salad with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. Then the only thing left to decide it what sort of meat might appeal to the kids. I have decided to take this Friday off so I can re-clean the house after the current guest leaves and to do some prep work on whatever we are going to have.
For tonight we are having fresh green beans, cuke and tomato salad and some really yummy spicy smoked sausage in natural casing.

You know that kids seem to love a hamburger. My hubby would be so jealous of the pickled beets! He loves them. I have never grown a taste for them. I like to boil them, peel them, and steam them with about a teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on top. I want a good tomato so bad it isn't funny! I have heard from Ale that I just need to grow my own. I did really well with flowers this year, so I think I am taking her advice and trying my hand next year.

Ok, it's a date! TDK family dinner at KyKat's TONIGHT. (lol)
We did grilled chicken, sliced onto huge salads made with homegrown lettuce from our garden. YUM. Spozed to get into the 80's this week, and I suspect the lettuce may bolt and go bitter quite soon, so I'm playing 'rabbit' and eating as much as I can :-)

My dad always used to have a bif garden and yes when it started to get hot and the lettuce started to get bitter my mom would do a hot bacon dressing for the last salad fo the season. I am with you SM, I like my lettuce unwilted. I actually like it when it has a bitter tinge because it tastes really well with a sweet and sour type of dressing.

Good morning all. Feeling a bit fuzzy headed this am. Didn't sleep well as I was awake at midnight and then again around 2am. I had too many dreams going on. Cats were crazy in the wee hours and that is probably what woke me up (they probably ran across me). Dove is gone now. Batch #5 wasn't viable and she pushed the eggs out of the nest. The male dove came this morning and was cooing while sitting in the nest and fluffing his wings. I wonder if he is confused as to where his mate and the eggs are.
MCW, I hope the doctor visit goes well and it is not something serious. Sending you positive thoughts and hugs. Waiting patiently outside in the hospital lobby for your news.
Kykat, that is great you are excited about visiting with your cousins. Just let me know what time is dinner and if I can bring something. We can make it a TDK party for them. Hee!
Gini, holy cow! What a scary situation with boyfriend with a temp of 104 and convulsions. I am sure you are watching like a hawk and getting good advice from our TDK nurses. Watch out for Nurse Ratchet..ahem, I mean WWM.
Joan, wow you must have had some storm for the flag pole to snap off! Hope all is okay with you and your family as well as your house. Sending some consoling hugs to help calm you.

SMM, so sorry about yet another night with not enough sleep. I hope tonight is better. Sleep deprivation is never a good thing.
Dinner will be around 6 on Friday, you can bring dessert!
I am borderline thinking about cheating and picking up fried chicken from the grocery one night this week. Maybe even tonight and having the sausage another night. Their chicken is so good and it is so much easier than frying one myself. AND if I cooke the greenbeans and make the salad myself then that sort of counts as a semi-home cooked meal.

Thankfully, the flagpole was attached to the house, but the patriot that I am I was horrified to see the flag on the ground. We must have had one heck of a gust. Leela was pretty wound up when I went inside. Oh, and I was drenched too; the rain was torrential.
Hubby came home with a sicilian pizza last night. Worked out great since once I changed into cozy sweats I settled in with a book. Kept getting interrupted by a small black cat who wanted to play!Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Greetings all. Any of the cinnamon coffee cake left? Paired with a Chai tea and I'm good to go.
Yep, back from the trip to El Paso. Was actually back on Sunday. Sorry that a meet up with SM wasn't in the cards. Trip was great ! One small missed turn and and we were in the White Sands missle range on Saturday... oops !! Finally made it to White Sands National Monument. What an amazing place. A 4.6 mile hike was ... an adventure! Yeah, that's what it was.... LOL Oh, and I got my new Lucchese boots!!! Nice !

Kykat, name your dessert and I will bring it! They are renovating the local KFC and I am in withdrawals as I have been hankering for some fried chicken strips and their biscuits. There use to be two but the second one closed for good. I drove by the one they are remodeling and it is going to look fancy! Can't wait for it to re-open as well as for Panera to open in the nearby shopping center. Yum!
SM, I was thinking the same thing about the calico cat..that it will now move on and will be left alone by the maintenance guy. I am still going to let the property manager know about the comment and that I am now nervous about if he ever has to go into my unit. If he ever does, that she agrees to be there with him.
Poor Leela..wound up with the storm. No wonder she wanted some attention when you got home. Poor kitty.
2P, sounds like you had a good trip to El Paso. I drove through there back in 1971 on our way back to California after living in Dallas, Texas for 2 1/2 years. I remember the drive as we saw one heck of a lightening storm off in the distance.

a sled would have been fun ! No- we had to do the tougher stuff ! lol I had so much sand in my shoes, I had to stop half way on the trail and empty them! HOT - you aren't kidding! We started the hike around 1 pm... there is nothing but white sand everywhere... and absolutely no shade. Wow...
-
We take the sled and walk out in the middle of nowhere. The end of the driving area has a ton of people normally. We either start there or we have found that the first park area is a great spot--we walk and can normally find areas that it seems no one has been on in some time. You can use the sled over your head to keep the sun off. Did you walk out on the recycle boardwalk? I took my daughter out there and taught her about electricity! The shocks are funny. She had a shock from the static build up, so much that you could see the blue spark!

Back, updated on the neck thread - no bad news - :o) - going out for meal with Chris as it's a nice evening.

I am pretty certain she is. The first day was rough, but she learned a few lessons. She faced her fear of heights. But she didn't listen to her mom--I told her stay away from what she is allergic to--apparently Mom is always WRONG! I don't know when I'll hear from her again. I would guess her next slower day is when she is in Belfast. I might hear from her then.

Gini, I had to leave and just now found your question. I would cover Mike with a very light sheet or really light weight blanket. But really watch his temp. If it goes down in the mornings, but then spikes again in the afternoon or evening, that can be an indication of a respiratory problem, or a body wide infection. Just keep an eye on it.
2P, we used to go to White Sands all the time as kids. We loved sliding down the dunes there. But how strange that the club was Spanish???? LOL!
