Hi! I really feel lousy today. I took my temp and it is 100. My normal is 97.4, ALWAYS. I called the surgeon's office and he is doing surgery today. I have a followup appointment tomorrow so they said it can be addressed then. Just take it easy today and they will put a note on my chart. So my questions are: 1. Could this be related to my surgery or just a coincidence (too far post op?)? 2. Should I be worried about a temp of 100? 3. I have ice packs on right now, any other suggestions? 4. Yes, I have a headache today. Any advice you can offer is always welcome. Thanks so much!

Not a nurse or a doctor, but after all you have been through I think it is safe to say that you need to be seen by a professional.
Prayers that you will recover your health.
O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in
time of need: We humbly beseech thee to behold, visit, and
relieve thy sick servant Amy for whom our prayers are desired.
Look upon her with the eyes of thy mercy; comfort her with
a sense of thy goodness; preserve her from the temptations
of the enemy; and give her patience under her affliction. In
thy good time, restore her to health, and enable her to lead
the residue of her life in thy fear, and to thy glory; and grant
that finally she may dwell with thee in life everlasting; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. -
SM, your prayers are always so comforting and purrfect! Thank you!

Ice packs and maybe a cool bath are all I can suggest. Hope you feel better.

And don't forget to drink (water, not booze). People can get dehydrated just like our furry babies do.

Hi Mollycat,I've felt lousy and had a 100 temp just from the local bugs around here. In itself 100 isn't too bad but with your history I would be very wary of a stiff neck, headache worse than usual, nausea and vomiting, any confusion and since you are alone I would call 911 to get yourself seen urgently if you just don't plain feel right. You know your body best. Please keep in touch today to let us know and certainly tell us if you go to be seen or cute policemen will be wandering the place again.

I'm not a nurse yet Amy but if you get really concerned and can't see your doctor go to the ER. Better to be safe than sorry. It is possible you have something not related to your surgery and you're just a little under the weather. Don't take chances if your "gut" fears something is not quite right. My prayers that you are fine and feeling normal very soon.{{{Amy}}}

Better to be a living pain in the health care pro's posterior than a dead model patient. If you don't feel right, or have any of Buttercups symptoms. Keep calling.
And stay in touch here.

I'm sorry, MC - I'm just now finding this. On its own, I wouldn't be too panicked about the slightly elevated temp. There are a host of reasons that could happen, and this far post-op I wouldn't be inclined to suspect infection. But, as Buttercup said, you need to be very mindful of the other indicators of a potential problem like the stiff neck, vomiting, dizziness, confusion, etc. All of those would indicate the need for immediate attention. But as Buttercup says, you will know if you just don't feel "right".
In the meantime, take tylenol q 4, and I would put some ice packs on my forehead, if I were you. It would help with your headache, too. And a lukewarm bath.
If your temp goes up at all, then you need to be seen.
Mucho hugs.

*pushes a black cherry Rita's Misto Shake MC's way* Let's shake that temp down!
With a low grade temp, please be mindful of flu-like symptoms.

ugh, feel like I am roasting from the inside out. I can't sleep. Took temp, still 99. The girls are avoiding me directly but staying in the area around me. They are so good at picking up on people's needs. They know to steer clear of meowmy as I yelled at the lawn guy for sleeping in my lawn chairs on my porch earlier. He had the nerve to call me a b***h and I had the nerve to tell him I am calling the landlord. HA! He was all apologies then!
