  1. Well the doors are open and there is a pleasant cool breeze that seems to be coming from NZ! The grills are fired up just name what you want! Tonight I think a T-bone cooked medium rare with grilled shitoki mushrooms! The fountains are bubbling as well! Make mine a dry martini with extra olives!

Pull up a chair on this fine Father's Day and tell us how your day has been or what your plans are....

  2. ((SM)) How are you? I will have one of those T bones with shrooms please...mmmmmm

Our day was okay..busy though. Just now really sat down. We ate breakfast, Wayne cut open his finger, ran to Walmart for items, went to Mcdonalds, went to Aldi's, came home, put the girls down for a nap, went over Mother in laws, came home, Wayne mowed the grass, pruned a tree, I did dishes, bathed both girls, fed both girls and finally both girls are in bed. whew...now it's almost bed time for me.

    How was your day?

  3. Nothing so frenetic here, North of Hollywood, CA. Avoided the Father's Day rush in restaurants by having our own little bagels and lox feast for breakfast. Then I worked on writing a report which is due Tuesday and GU found some fascinating electronics project to dither with until dinner time.

We are making progress with the "say hello to Sophie" project between Sophie Dorothea and Lady Coco. Today Lady C. actually stuck her head out of the bedroom while looking around to keep an eye on Sophie. Hopefully, she will move out into the hall one of these days. But she is still spending most of her time under the bed. We have actually gotten them within six inches of each other while feeding treats.

  4. awww GA..I hope she comes around soon.

I am bidding you all good night. I am beat, I love my girls, but holy cow do they drain the life out of me :)

Hugs to all. Have a wonderful evening and I will see you in the morning.

  5. GA that sounds like a start!!

Steak is on its way CM--they were really good! I put a potato in the oven--rubbed with unsalted butter and rolled in sea salt. I even make a cake!

  6. Sweet dreams CM--sleep tight!

  7. Hi SM,CM & GA. I'll have something from a fountain please. Had a day in the city shopping for a light weight top to go under my blouse for this weekends wedding. Didn't find anything until i went to a shopping centre just down the road from home. Why does it happen that way, you make an effort to go into the city then find what you're looking for close to home, grrrrrr.

  8. I'm grrr with you. Got a message tonight from the leader of the group--they got in late and didn't get to makes calls home for Father's Day, and some of the kids are upset. Personally we didn't expect many calls and have had 2! Hubby did carry his cell phone around with him though. I am glad they are having fun! Their leader called her husband and had him relay the message through the phone tree.

  9. Hi SM, GA, MS... How are all of y'all....

  10. Pretty good OH how are you?

Posted 5 months ago by SoxsMom #

  11. Glad that the day is over...It was good but Father's day makes me miss my dad...but hubby is great....Gallo has decided to become a biter....

Posted 5 months ago by opahall #

  12. Time to get Gallo some toys! Thumping on the nose doesn't work too much, at least for me. It seemed the best thing we ever did was to put him in a room alone for a time out when he bit--not long 5 minutes or so. Then got Deuter out and played with him some more. when we play and he doesn't nip we give treats--he likes food!

Sorry about missing your Dad. I haven't seen my Dad in a few years, and I miss him more than words can say. I do at least get to talk to him often! He also writes to me!

  13. What or whom is Gallo biting? We have a similar problem with Sophie. Almost two years old and she chews on anything remotely string-like: Earphone cords, etc. But never electrical cords. We had to get the cable guy out because she bit into but not through the line to GU's phone (phone, internet and TV on one service). We have rubbed every cable and cord now with bitter apple; hopefully, that will work.

  14. Well, time to sign off. Sleep tight, everyone.

  15. Evening all - cold as a witches t_t here as my father would have said. We don't have Fathers Day in NZ until September but I will say Happy Father's Day to all the US Fathers (including my father-in-law!).

Ringo brought in a dead mouse on Saturday night - a fresh one - not flattened roadkill. It can only be time before he brings in a live one! Tonight he disgraced himself by shredding two pompoms that miniKK had made with wool at school. Not quite sure why she let him near them but they are back to their component parts now!

I won't be online for the next couple of days - off on a business trip for a night. Two major presentations to give and not looking forward to either of them. Can't wait until I am getting on the plane on Wednesday afternoon with my box of Dunkin Donuts (we can only get them in the city I am going to on business - anyone want to open a franchise nearer me?)

  16. Evening, anyone in the NS office? As KK(and our dear old Dad) said it's as 'cold as a witches t*t'. Shadz went out last night and didn't come back in until this morning and we had a good frost. She found somewhere cosy to spend the night and that layer of fat that would make a seal blush with pride insulated her nicely. Reading the back posts before heading off to bed.

  17. Hi, MS, I'm here, editing papers! (Not complaining, it keeps me in a job :) ) How was your day? I was still busily tidying and cleaning, it's turned into a real spring clean (this is why I should never start these things, they become missions) and the house is redolent with the fumes of wood polish and cleaning liquids... Still, the activity helps to keep me warm (well, warmish)...

KK, I suppose it's too late to wish you well for the presentation and to order our doughnuts?

  18. Hi Jcat, there's a new poster wanting poop advise. You seem to know more about kitty poop than I do.

  19. I had a busy day shopping, went all around town and then found what I needed at a shopping centre close to home. Typical! Out getting last minute things for the wedding this weekend. Took a necklace to the jewellers for cleaning and to get the chain shortened, he had to laugh as he added a piece in when I got the necklace. Luckily I know him well and he said my weight loss has been good for his business, I've already had to get my rings re-sized down.
Uh oh, spring cleaning already? the cold must be keeping you indoors and needing something to keep you active and warm. Mmmmm, wood polish smells nice, especially if it has bees wax in it.

    Posted 5 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  20. MS, pure beeswax is my favourite kind of polish to smell but (she said shamefacedly) it's too much hard work and elbow grease, so I use the spray and wipe kind of polish, otherwise I never polish anything at all...

Tell me more about the wedding, who is getting married and are you travelling to the wedding? Sounds like you have everything under control (things are always in the last place you look, even if you look in the last place first!)

I posted on the poop issue (these days I just add tags and ask the poop-perplexed to look up the threads). I do think CBM had a great idea when she suggested a special POOP section for TDK (and another one for kitten care worries). Then newbies could cut straight to the real poop...

  21. Morning and Night to all! Hi ho, hi ho, its off to (part) time work I go! Yay, I am so NOT excited. Have a good nite, talk later!

  22. Hi, MC, have a great day at work (but take it easy too). Looking forward to hearing about your first day back (and take it easy. Did I say that already?)

Posted 5 months ago by jcat #

  23. Thanks Jcat, I wasn't sure how to add a tag(blush) and knew you would help. LOL poop-perplexed, I like that very much.
I too use the spray too but one with bees wax in it.
The wedding is Mr MS's nephew and our daughter Meegz is the only bridesmaid, several others have pulled out because they are moving or got exams. We only have to travel over the ranges into the ykato, I am hoping they don't close the road because of ice that night or we won't be able to get home again. Long range weather says it may be wet so I guess ice will be no problem at this point.
MC, you take the day gently please and good luck.

    Posted 5 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  24. Ooh, which one do you use? I'll keep an eye out. Mine is called Natural Wood Oil and I think it's mainly boiled linseed oil (which works really well but smells stinky)...

I'd forgotten Meegz was a bridesmaid, that's lovely, so you get to see her too! I bet she looks gorgeous in her finery -- I bet you all do. Please take pix for us! And please be careful on those hills, I'm really scared of black ice in the mornings and at night. I hope Mr MS's nephew and his bride have a wonderful day. (And I hope the wedding is being held inside!) As I was driving over the Ruamahanga bridge the other day, I noticed a bridal party standing by the river's edge, taking their photos, I think, and I thought, that is very very brave in winter, you must all be FREEZING!

  25. Morning all!...... ah, I love weddings, no matter what the weather!...... Brides are always so beautiful!......

.... laughing at Ringo's "conquest"...... they get so excited when they bring you a "prize"!.....

.... this is a busy week for me, now that we're back.... packing Daughter up to take her to begin Central Fla. University this Saturday..... Hubbs has been in a "funk" for days now, just thinking about "loosing" his baby daughter!....

..... I wonder how that witches' t_t looks in 100+ degree weather because, that's what it is here today! 7am and already 85!!!..... why bother even trying to put on makeup?.... it just melts the second you step outside!.....

Posted 5 months ago by AbbigaleViolet #

  26. I use one called 'Dots' clean & shine furniture polish, silicone free with genuine bees wax. She also makes a great cooking spray but don't get them confused, could be disastrous.
It's amazing what people will do for wedding photos.
I'm starting to freeze up here so I'm heading off to bed now.

    Posted 5 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  27. Aren't men funny about their daughters leaving home. Mr MS was a bit like that too but after helping them move flats for about the third time he had got over his girls leaving, mainly because we were always hearing from them or helping them move flats.
Nice to see you back AV, posting when ever you want to. I think i prefer the cold to the heat any day, easier to add clothes to keep warm, taking clothes off has to stop at some point or you'll get in trouble. ;-0

    Posted 5 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  28. Awww, now you're just rubbing it in, AV. Where did I put those shoes... lol.

It must be hard, watching them flee the nest, but I bet they come back quite often for laundry and meals ;-)

Posted 5 months ago by jcat #

  29. Tee hee, I'll try to keep my polishing and cooking sprays separate, MS.

Nighty-night, sweet dreams, give that Shadz a scritch from me. I'm off to do a bit more editing and a bit more polishing...

Have a great day, AV, and everyone else!
