There's a young man in the Detroit area who has been writing letters to potential foster parents, and it worked! He came from a troubled home, but was excelling at his studies. He now has a great foster family and has high hopes for continuing his education.
I love a good success story, there are so many tragic ones.
So many people think that todays youth are worthless. There are problems certainly, but there are great kids out there! I see them and am amazed. How does a kid that doesn't know where they will sleep that night or if there will be food contend with raising younger siblings and concentrate on school. Parents are addicts or gang bangers or what ever problem they have and yet the kid keeps on. No electricity, no heat, no water, the things I take as necessities are luxuries for some. Thank God that someone is telling their stories! I pray that these kids indeed are my future!
Well said SM!!! Kids such as these kids can bring a whole new understanding of what is an isn't important to the next generation. I think it is the beginning of the "full circle" at least I hope so. The next generation returning to values..understanding the value of life, not just theirs, but their neighbors life.
