  1. I recently got a kitten and felt he needed different litter so I got the crystal type. He uses it fine but my older cat...I switched her's yesterday morning and she hasn't used it yet. I wanted her to adjust to it before I introduced them together hopefully this weekend.

She has gone a little while without litter duties before but this time around with there being new litter if this is something I should talk to the vet about or if you guys have any suggestions.

  2. Hi Paul....I can't help you really....mine are completely outdoors potty-goers and won't even use a box but have you considered maybe mixing the older cat's litter half and half with the new to slowly introduce it?

  3. I thought of that.

BTW, I'm not Paul, or male even.

After I posted this, like not even 5 minutes later...my little girl (the older cat but she's my first cat ever) pood and peed in the box. I was so happy! It's like just posting this made it happen. lol

  4. Welcome Dragonfly,

I'm glad your older cat used the new litter. If you need to change litters again, it's sometimes easier for the cat if you do it slowly. Cats usually don't like sudden changes in their litter (or food). Most of us have found that adding a little bit of new litter to the existing box every time you clean it works best.
