Sat. Night Shift 6/27 !!!!!
(28 posts)-
runs in at "midnight"... and peers around.... kitties looking lonely and hungary!..... fills all bowls with kibble, wet food, water and KMR.....
... drags the fountains out of the cabinets and gets them started!....hourderves are whatever you heart desires!..... savory, sweet, anything you can imagine!....
...... just got back (YES MIDNIGHT) from taking Daughter to college!..... rained and stormed like you would NOT believe on the drive over.... so bad at one point, we had to pull off on an exit and wait in a parking lot for it to stop (I was riding with Daughter in her car, we were following Hubbs).... so we get there, and Daughter has apparently brought 10X what most everyone else has, so instead of taking 2 or 3 trips to the car, it takes us like 20!!!! (embarressed!).... she brings 10 jackets to summer quarter in FLORIDA!.... (ok, so I didn't monitor her packing - but HELLO, she wouldn't let me!).... anyway, we get things (somewhat) settled, then go to the car for a trip to Walmart, and her car is DEAD!... won't start, won't do anything!!!..... come to find out, Hubbs (sweet over protective Dad that he is, tested her "extra mechanics" key, which set off her alarm system, which locks down the electronics, and drains the car battery!..... great if you're a thief because the car won't start... BAD if it's your car and you want to go somewhere..... we call AAA... wait an hour, and then finally some nice college guy sees us standing there with jumper cables in our hands and offers to help.... get her car going, drive around for about 30 min. to recharge the battery, and FINALLY Hubbs and I get on the road!.... I'm exhausted!!!!!

Evening Jcat, I considered watching The Ring but then decided I'd better not, just a bit too scary for me. We had a wet day here and we weren't doing much at all.

I've seen it before, MS, so yes, scary, but not so much so the second or third time around (with gazillions of ads every five minutes...) Same here, plus my tum a bit dicey, didn't get much done at all, feeling better now. I still have billions (well, three bags) of spring bulbs to plant, do you think it's getting too late?
-
Still to plant, hmmmmmm are they daffodils or jonquils. Daffs would be ok just to plant know especially if you've had them in the fridge for a while but it's too late probably for Jonquils and Erlicheer as they are starting to flower here.
Dicey tums aren't much fun, hope it improves very soon.Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

Nope, they're daffs and crocuses I think, but it's mostly daffs... I bought a huge bag (250 odd) off Trademe but I don't really want to plant them in the rain as I ALWAYS get a cold when I'm out in the rain and I'm still getting over the last one... Hope maybe we get a good day soon...
My tum periodically plays up, MS, it'll be fine soon, probably by tomorrow...
-
Wow, 250 bulbs. That will be a fantastic display when they are all flowering. I can remember playing amongst the daffodils, jonquils and snowdrops in my Grandparents paddocks when I was young. The huge cows standing grazing beside dozens of glorious Spring bulbs. I have one bulb of snowdrops from that farm hopefully becoming more bulbs down the back of our section.

That's exactly the effect I would love to create, MS, but some of them are very tiny (well, they were a bargain, Trademe is a great place to buy bulbs and seeds!) and I don't know if they'll start flowering immediately. My garden looks quite big, because the house is to one side of the section, so I'm aiming for a cottage garden close to the house and an orchard with a zillion bulbs out back. It would be so pretty! Have planted lots of fruit trees too but so far they're very puny (and four fruit is a good harvest, tee hee). Mind you, I don't really know what I'm doing, which doesn't help. More fruit trees planned...
I LOVE snowdrops. My friend Diana gave me some which I planted out front, they are so pretty. I love jonquils and freesias too...
Hey, did you know Carty is the daffodil capital of NZ? (tee hee)
-
Is it really? I didn't know that. I live and learn, thanks to you. What a sight it will be when all the bulbs are out. No doubt there will be pics in the Herald.

Herald? Possibly, I don't know... in the DomPost, there's always one, every year! People come from Wellington on a steam train and they run buses out to Homebush Station (I think that's what it's called) where you can pick loads and loads of daffs for a donation to the Cancer Society. I haven't yet managed to make it myself, of course, lazy sausage that I am...

It's a funny thing Jcat, people never seem to visit 'things' near their own homes. There are places around here I have never been to but they seem to be well known in the rest of NZ.

Ok if all your bulbs bloom, pictures, pictures, pictures from both of you :) Love scads of flowers, can't grow them for nothing but love them nonetheless.

Okay, Deb, promise, if they all come up and flower (remember, I still have to put them in the ground yet), I will send pix! I'm not sure I can grow them yet either! I have been looking for bulb food to plant them with too but for some reason, I can't find any...
I know, MS, I guess it's because you know they'll always be there so you can always go but never do... Yet there are some places I always take visitors and end up going to a lot!
-
I only have about 20 bulbs in this year Deb, was a bit late when I went to buy more and they were all sold out. Next year i hope to have more. I love growing jonquils and Erlicheer because of their fantastic scent. One sniff and I'm a child in the front paddock with all the bulbs and the added smell of warm milky smelling cows chewing their cud.

Good morning every one. The witching hour has passed and now it's time for me to head off to bed and see if Shadz has left me any bed to sleep in. Goodnight Deb, hope w**k slows down from manic to just crazy. Good night Jcat, I hope Jasper manages to hang on tonight and that the rain holds off for you to plant your bulbs. Put them in your fridge until then as it will encourage them to flower. Headbonks to the 'Crew' and Libby & Jasper.

G'night, sleep well, and scritches to Butterball from me and the crew! And loved the cows on the wedding cake, they were too good...

Good night, MS, sorry I missed you, I had to go watch the scary part of The Ring... Sleep well, those cows on the wedding cake were ace! Scritches to HRH!
Tee hee, I don't think the ginormous bag of 250 bulbs will fit in my fridge, even if I take all the shelves out... The small bags of crocuses might, I'll do that.
I've just remembered some proofreading I need to do before tomorrow so I'd better take it to bed with me... Have a great day everyone! Deb, hope the crew let you sleep in on your 'Saturday' morning! Headbonks to all of them and {{{HUGS}}} to you!

Morning all! I'm still exhausted from yesturday!.... sad this morning when I woke up and walked by her empty room ..... *snif*......
...... MS, I love Elk!..... med. rare - so tender you can cut it with a butter knife!..... yummmmm
... I'm sooooo jealous of your flowers - both of you........ I struggle to keep my porch plants alive, it's just so darn hot here, things struggle to survive!.... even tho I'm really good about watering them, they still struggle!
