  1. Hey all, I'm back. Ok, I got the server back, but still can't get to business email, weird. Oh well, might have to hang out in the TDK cafe all day! I have TDK; what else do I really need?

  2. Exactly, Joan!

Back soon, have to go feed the ravening hordes (Jasper)!

  3. Happy anniversary AV :-)

I made up close to five dozen catnip toyz yesterday, and I can say they are 'cat tested and approved', since I gave one to Tansey, the Quality Control staff :-) She licked it and laid her head on it. Hermes licked it and then laid on it.

He was sitting at the back window in the kitty construct and he looked like a giant BUTT there. Called him "Hermes the Butt" after "Jabba the Hutt" (lolol)

But it's MY kitty butt to love (and love it I do).

  4. What a hardship Joan. I can see you're going to have a really difficult day with restrictions like that.

  5. There are times that the servers go down here too, and my job just grinds to a halt. Everything I do needs a computer :-)

  6. Good morning all!! Daughter will be home in 3 days! The time just seemed to fly!

Deb I am so sorry about your head. Does it get worse when the barometric pressure chages? Just wondered if you could feel rain coming in.

AV congratulations!! When he gets off the golf course you can have the champagne chilling and candles burning!

MS--Airy saw a BIG fluffy baby!! With how they are treated I am glad she was it and not someone who would lose their mind and call to have it killed!

  7. Morning, SM, how are you today? Can't believe that your girl will be home in three days -- bet the time just whizzed by for her and that she's had a marvellous time!

  8. Morning soxsmom, usually the pressure system does give me a headache and it does smell a wee bit like rain. This one was one of the worst I have had in a few months, woke me up wanting to scream. If I wasn't so paranoid about ER's I would have went to get a shot for it but couldn't do it, not this morning there are sick people in the ER and I don't want to share today.

  9. Cool glad that she will be home, it has seemed like time flies lately.

  10. Yes I think she had a great time!! She was asked by People to People to be an ambassador to Australia next! She hasn't decided if she will go or not.

  11. Deb, I'm so sorry your head is so bad. It's not fair that you have to suffer this. {{{Deb}}} I hope you feel better soon.

SM, Australia is a long way but it's a great place! I bet she would totally love it.

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  12. There SM, we told you time would fly. And, you managed to get through it too. Well done.
What stories she will have to tell.
Now I like that description SM, a Big Fluffy.

  13. *plops down on a cushy TDK cafe chair - immediately bombarded by a bunch of playful agency kittens* I'll just be here in the corner today, playing with all this fluff and chatting with anyone who is hanging out.

  14. She was hoping to get selected for China. She was selected for another program to study with a newspaper in Romania. My question about Romania was how will she deal with the language barrier? I believe they speak Russian--she doesn't speak it or write it! I am sure she would learn a great deal, but the first problem is the huge language barrier!

  15. Well, swine flu has invaded my school and the HPA has advised us to close for 3 days, so I'll have to stay at home and watch Wimbledon. *sigh* It's such a shame isn't it? (Hohoho!)

  16. I sympathize with your migraines, AZ. I find a warm compress on my eyes and forehead, and sometimes the back of my neck, seem to offer relief. At least it tends to relax some of the tense muscles. I can also massage/walk my fingers up the back of my neck and that sometimes seems to help.

  17. Joan I think your bear is roaming around!! There is another bear thread!

  18. Time for me to head off to bed. It's 1.30am and i should have been asleep long ago, you are all a bad influence on me!
Shadz is doing feline yoga in her basket by the fireplace, Mr MS is snoring none too gently and the rain has stopped.
Goodnight all, have a wonderful day with no dramas. Deb, I hope your screaming headache/migraine starts easing soon.
SM, Australia would be great for your daughter to see. Yes it's a long way but it's also very different from anything she has seen so far.

  19. In Romania they speak Romanian, which is quite a lot like Russian, but isn't exactly the same. Quite a lot of people speak English, and it's suprising how much you can manage with goodwill, hand, feet and a good phrasebook.

  20. PM, you poor poor thing. Having to watch Wimbledon. As I type this I can hear the game on TV in the other room. Shadz is watching it.
    Baaaaaaaaaaaa!

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  21. MS sweet dreams!

PM the good phrasebook always works wonders! How did your trip to Birmingham go?

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  22. Australia is a great place to visit, but make sure she allows enough time. Because it's one country people sometimes forget how huge it is. I went for a month and never got out of New South Wales, and there is so much more to see. I want to go to Alice Springs and Ayers Rock, Perth and the West Coast generally, Northern Territory, I'm not too bothered about the tropical areas of Queensland BUT I really want to dive the Barrier Reef before it all either dies from being attacked by boat hooks and spiny starfish or drowns because of rising sea levels.

  23. A friend and I were talking about how amazing it is that bears are so big and noticeable, but they don't seem to make a sound! One ambled thru my yard the other day...
    G'night MS.
Hey PM, I hope you can get thru your tough day, lol! Have fun watching Wimbleton!

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  24. PM keep safe in the schools! The funny part is you can't ever get them to share anything, and yet when they have a germ they share almost willingly!

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  25. Nighty-night, MS, sweet dreams, funny, I was under the impression it was you who were the bad influence ;-) Snorgle that Shadz for me!

Looks like PM and Joan are both having really bad days today... shame, lol.

SM, I think both Romania and China would be fabulous and wonderful but challenging too. Whereas Oz is just plain fun -- they speak English, they're friendly (mostly, lol), the sun shines and it's laid back. And wonderful, extraordinary wildlife and an Aboriginal heritage stretching back thousands of years!

  26. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa MS and sleep well.

SM the trip to Birmingham was .... interesting. Our school now has a new National Champion. One of our little boys (8 years old) won his long jump event with a new national record - go Jeffrey! One of the older girls was "done" out of the 100 metres. We still think she won, but they gave her the silver. Well done, Eunice! As for the rest we were mostly outclassed, but for a school with only 380 children spread across an age range of 3 - 18 to get 17 children through to the Nationals is an huge achievement in itself.

  27. If she is going with People to People she will have places to go in Australia and the itinerary is grueling. She was been in England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland in 3 weeks. They are rarely in the same place for more than a day. I fear her memories will all be a blur. One of her highlights was a visit to Trinity--she has wanted to go to school there forever!

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  28. JCat that wildlife part is what she would love most!

PM that is fantastic and I am sure the whole school must be so proud of their atheletes!

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  29. SM, I don't think that's necessarily a bad way to travel, especially when you're young. You get to see a wide variety of things in a short time and then can decide what places you'd like to go back and explore at a more leisurely pace on your own. It would be especially good for somewhere like Oz which, as PM says, is so huge, and involves vast distances to travel (or like the United States for us!) She has her whole life ahead of her to travel :)

PM, wow, a new national record for a little eight-year-old! How stoked Jeffrey must have been!

  30. It's Federer v Soderling at the moment. Federer is leading 2 set to 0 and it's 5 - 4 in the third set, games going with serve. Soderling did have a break point just now, but he let it slip, through his own error. Soderling now has to serve to stay in the match.
