We also have the grill fired up making hotdogs and hamburgers, chicken and bratwurst (YUM), as well as grilled veggies. Inside chocolate dipped strawberries and ice cream. Just got home about 10 minutes ago from visiting Ange. Had a very nice dinner in honor of our volunteerism. It was delicious and very nice. I had to get home and feed my cats as I was way overdue. They are not happy that I am not allowing them to go out onto the balcony. They aren't allowed there after dark as that is when Sylvester took his leap of faith (twice).

Morning Deb!.....Woken up at sparrow fart by thunderstorms!..... Pouring here, supposed to all day!..... I know we need the rain in Fla. but we've been getting it for DAYS on end now!...... a break would be nice...... my lawn will probably be like a jungle when it finally stops!...... poor Hubbs, he'll need a machete instead of a weed eater!......

Hi Jcat!...... I made my first pizza last night!.....it was actually very good, Hubbs was impressed....... I made the dough with unbleached flour, rapid rise yeast,water, a little sugar, olive oil, garlic powder and dried oregano...... the sauce I made with tomatoe puree, garlic & onion, oregano, salt/pepper and a pinch of red pepper flakes....... then I did two toppings - half I did with sliced fresh tomatoe, fresh motzerlla and basil ribbons; the other half I did black olive, mushroom, with moth motzerlla and fontina cheeses......
.... not bad for my first attempt..... now I just have to figure out how to make them cheaply...... I know that good fresh ingredients are the key, but sometimes the gourmet cheeses can get expensive......

AV, that sounds totally yummy! I love home-made pizza so much, I make it all the time -- dough in the breadmaker, home-made tomato sauce with fresh basil and ALWAYS black olives, mushrooms and cheese -- then whatever vegies I have hanging around (pumpkin at the moment, which goes well with feta cheese). MMmmmm, I am feeling hungry again...

yummmm.... pumpkin!.... hadn't thought of that, but I bet it would be good with feta!....
... another of my ideas I thought I'd try is black beans, roasted corn, tomatoe, fresh cilantro and feta....... kinda a "mexican" pizza.....
... I was so happy I found my kitchen aid mixer - we had packed it up when we moved from the big house to the Hyde Park buildings here, and most of our stuff is in boxes and bins in the detached apartment storage upstairs.... I was moaning yesturday when I thought I was going to have to dig through everything, but low and behold - there it was sitting on the shelf as soon as I rounded the stairs - and the box with all the attachments and instructions right bye it!..... yay!......

It was meant to be, AV, obviously finding your kitchen mixer was kismet! That Mexican pizza sounds absolutely wonderful too! Tee hee, I think I'd put avocado on it (I LOVE avocado and guacamole, it's just about my favourite food...). And what about a dessert pizza with sweet dough and -- I don't know -- drizzled chocolate and fresh fruit of some kind?

.... and I've been toying with the idea of a dessert pizza....I think I could make the dough a little sweeter by adding some honey and cinnamon/nutmeg to it, then I was thinking of doing the toppings like the "cheese party" dish I did - crumbled manouri cheese, and topped with dried figs, apricots and almonds mixed with honey.........oh, so much yumminess to play around with!

Been up since 5--not that that is unusual--well maybe in the summer it is! Off to get my baby! Got a text at 3am saying her flight was leaving on time! I am a bit excited!! A bit nervous too--isn't that weird. I fear that she doesn't want to come home. The travel bug is well planted and the root are flowing all over the world! Prayers for a safe, uneventful flight!

Wow, SM, how exciting -- what AV said. Can't wait to hear about her travels and I bet you will be so glad to see her. And I bet she will be glad to be home too, just to get some home cooking and rest and see her loved ones, she has plenty of time to jet off again :)
