Guardian Question Five

(7 posts)
  1. Richard Franklin goes out on a couple of dates with Julie before she decides that it isn’t working out between them. Her reason is simply that it didn’t seem to “click” even though she had a good time on her dates. Is this realistic? Did Julie suspect anything amiss with Richard, or was it that she didn’t want to lead him on? How would you have reacted to receiving unexpected gifts and notes on your doorstep after the first and second dates? Has this ever happened to you?

  2. ..... I definitely think one can tell if you don't "click" with a person after a couple of dates..... and it's not something you can control.... either you're attracted to them (and not just physically) or your not!.......you can't force it.....

.....it would definitely creep me out if some guy starting giving me expensive gifts or leaving notes after only a couple of dates..... I think it took Julie a little time to recognize his obsession, but I think "warning" bells were definitely there...... subconsiouly she heard them, but it took a little while for her to confirm the creepy feelings...... I think that's normal, most people aren't "looking" for wierdos, so she was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt for a while......

  3. I think that she went with her instinct and it proved her right, there was something amiss. It seems to me that Julie is the type to not want to hurt anyone's feelings, as not Richard's either. It would creep me out that some guy is giving me random gifts and showing up at my house at 2am...

  4. I believe Julie didn't want to lead Richard on. I would not have been able to accept that necklace.
BTW, I knew my hubby was going to be my hubby very early on when we started dating. We "clicked" by the 3rd date or so.

  6. When it doesn't click, move on--it's kinder than to lead the other person on.

  7. That is funny, my first impression of KD was not good...we actually both told the person who introduces us that the other was (fill in the blank with a nasty word). He said "Sounds like you will be married before the end of the year..." Laugh was on him, we waited until the following March...lol
