5 month old kitten really sick!!! HELP PLEAZZZ!

(4 posts)
  1. My 5 month old kitten Rocky has been sick for the past week and I don't know what to do. This is my first cat some I'm completely lost I just love him so much. He started vomiting around Saturday afternoon and continued to vomit until monday here and there. He's still drinking, but he won't eat anything. He nibbles here and there but thats all. He has urinated and still has good stool but i can't get him to eat. He quit vomiting tuesday and hasn't vomited since then. He's really tired all the time and doesn;t want to do anything. I have tried his regular wet/dry food mix which he used to love, tuna in water, and even turkey slices and cheese and he just stares at it. He has lost weight, i can feel his bones. I've already taken him to the vet twice and they don't know whats wrong with him. He didn't have a temperature and wasn't dehydrated, and they couldnt feel anything wrong with his stomach. Please someone help me, I'm scared something is going to happen to him!

  2. Make sure that he is hydrated even if you have to use pedialyte, have you changed his food recently? The vet hasn't given you suggestions on what to do about the throwing up and not eating? I can't think of anything else but there are others who may be able to give you more tips, prayers and wishes go with you and Rocky.

  3. Chinadoll, you may need to try another vet. At the very least, the vet should be checking for dehydration. He should also be giving you some ideas for feeding your kitty, as well as running a few blood tests to try and figure out what's wrong.

  4. Another vet, right away! CBM's right, it's the vet's job to find out what's wrong, not just send you away saying they don't know. In the meantime, a little Nutrical paste or Karo corn syrup, smeared round his mouth and gums (no big blobs just little smears) may give him a little energy. Keep him drinking, pedialyte if possible. Try warming his food in the microwave, that makes it more appetising, and try giving him things that have a stronger smell -- more fish, etc. Keep him warm and comfy, keep him close to you if possible, give him as much attention as possible to keep his little spirits up. But mainly -- get a better vet!
