You have to remember where I live....tractor pulls are big here...LOL! And fireworks at night :)

Morning everyone...busy busy today, we leave at 4 am tomorrow morning so I have to make sure everything is done today. I have to take both girls to the dr today..unscheduled...Abbie was pulling at her ear yesterday, so we have to make sure she doesn't have an ear infection and then Maddie is still complaining here and there that it hurts when she pees..again sometimes she says it doesn't and sometimes shes yes. So I figured, since we are going in for Abbie, take Maddie in to be checked too. Aghhhhhh.
I am pretty packed up and ready..just last minute things to get ready and packed so I feel pretty good at least.

..... I've been playing around a bit..... I have discovered that for one pizza (enough for two people)...... the basic receipe is 2 cups unbleached flour to 1 cup water, 1 tsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/4 sugar and 1 packet yeast. I roll this out fairly thin 1/4" (because I like thin crust), and it makes what I would call one large pizza. I bake it on a wire rack, not a sheet pan, so the bottom gets nice and crispy.... seems to work well.... I bake at 450 for 15 min. so far, it's been right every time.......
...that being said, I've added to the crust 1/2 tsp garlic powder, and 1/2 tsp oregano... another time I used rosemary.... one time I used herbs de provance.... I also upped the salt (because I like salt).......

Hi everyone! *scritches agency kittens' heads* Super busy and we have an opportunity to get out early today, so I'd better get to work!
"Thunder in the Highlands" is supposed to be tonight; it's a big fireworks show at a place formerly known as "Jungle Habitat". When I went there back in the 70s, it seemed so far away, now it's in my hood! Not sure if we're going, but hoping the weather holds out if we do. We had real thunder in the highlands about 4am this morning, but it's supposed to clear up for the weekend. Might actually get, maybe, some sun on my face - woo-hoo!Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

There's a balloon festival "Field of Flight" in Battle Creek this week, I hope to see some pretty balloons over the weekend. We have a show in Jackson to be at, if his mom improves.... so our plans may be a bit fluid this weekend. I plan on SLEEPING IN tomorrow morning (rubs hands in glee), if Miss Tansey will let me. She was on the bed at 3:30 being Sweetgirl, purring on my pillow, and again as PestGirl(tm) at 5. I get up at 5:30.... I really do prefer Sweetgirl....

AV, that recipe for the pizza crust sounds easy and yum! I might have to try that!
Hi Joan!!!
I have to wait for another 45 minutes to leave for the dr...I hate waiting. I have the girls all ready just in case I was able to come in at 9:30 but alas, 11:00 appt. whoo....
It's cold and rainy here today. Doesn't feel like July at all. I have both girls in pants and will be in a jacket as well. I hope it clears up so we have a safe drive tomorrow.Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

Morning everyone! I had to run around the various places in my building to gather up membership brochures from various plastic holders. We are doing one last recruitment mailing before we change to a new brochure. I am headed out this afternoon to go to my family reunion in Tennessee. We have gathered every year for the last 38 years and we have a great time. We will be smoking ribs for the 4th and swimming in the lake and hopefully will enjoy lovely weather.

AV, your pizza sounds good. Have you tried honey in the crust yet? CM, have a great time in Wild Wonderful West Virginia!, KH, Sio Joan and AV - careful with those fireworks! We don't want to set the cafe' on fire!

LOL KK!..... I'm going to add honey instead of sugar in my next batch and see what the difference is.......
..... another few notes for anyone trying to make pizza - I use the rapid rise yeast, which seems to work just fine.... when you do that, you mix your dry ingredients (flour, salt, sugar, garlic, etc.) with the yeast dry - then you must heat your liquid (water) to 120-130 degrees, and add it slowly... add the olive oil last...... mix well, then turn on a floured surface and knead for about 3 minutes until you have a nice well mixed ball of dough..... place in an oiled bowl, turn to coat the entire ball, cover (with saran wrap) and set out on the counter for at least 10 minutes before rolling out.... usually mine sets for an hour or so, because I'm usually waiting for Hubbs to get home before I make dinner......
this is different that the traditional yeast that must be mixed with warm water before adding to the dry stuff..... just notes from my experiments for anyone interested.......

Kykat, have a wonderful time in Tennessee. I love that state. Safe trip for you too. It must be family reunion time, since that's where we are headed too :)

No it definately doesn't feel like the 4th of July around here; Memorial Day was the same way. It seems like summer is not here yet. It's 66 degrees and rainy...again. *sounding a lot like a broken record*
Only sparklers allowed in the cafe - anything more would scare the agency kitties!Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Joan, I would have happily shared some of the 100 degree heat we had last Saturday. Today however is perfect! It will be in the mid 80's there is a light breeze and the skies are blue! It is a crime against nature to have to work on a day as fine as this one!

Kykat, you are going to have so much fun in Tennessee! I live just outside of the Nashvile area.
Bianca hasn't meowed one time sense she came here. She only chirps, its so cute! When ever she sees Rocky she do those sideways jumps and start chirping towards him. It is so entertaining to watch them.
Right now its 73 degrees outside and sunny, so its perfect here!Posted 2 years ago by Catfancier #

Good Thursday Morning to all...a pretty day is expected in Milwaukee today!
Hope the day flys so I can get packing for my long weekend Up North!!! Yay...freedom in the northwoods starts tomorrow! Pass a piece of your festive flag cake with a cup of Joe(Java) my way! Mmmmmm...cake for breakfast! -
Morning, Everyone! Gosh, it sounds like everyone is traveling! We aren't going anywhere :-( but will cook burgers and stuff. For some reason they aren't even having the big fireworks show here this year. Fire danger, maybe, although we have had some rain lately.
AV, I made a pizza not too long ago with chicken, artichoke hearts, black olives, goat cheese and made an Alfredo sauce rather than marinara. Ever since I had those ulcers marinara sauce and I just don't get along. Anyway, it was a yummy pizza. Of course, I think that anything that has artichokes is yummy.
You know, I have the strangest craving for a pickle......

Hi Katt, thanks for asking! 3 Lakes,WI...in Oneida Cty is my destination...love the fresh air & treat of seeing the stars at night! Not sure if the kits are traveling with...Dot is a good traveler...Crock is not too good in a carrier...we'll see how tomorrow morning goes! I thought about moving to the sticks but not sure if I could handle so loooooooong winters...they are long enough here! PS...Have a great weekend to all!
-
Kotek, Hope your kitts travel well! Yes, the winters here are horribly long....what I hate is not being able to get out to even grocery shop when the weather is bad, as I go to Portage for that. I do hate the inconvenience of living where I do! Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Good morning all. I might just use my coupon for those hotdogs so I can enjoy the fourth with some good hot dogs and coleslaw. The fireworks will be out tomorrow night and those I do not see, I still will hear the loud bangs. There are two different fire works shows in my area so I will be hearing both of them. My cats will be a little nervous but should be okay since there was the KFOG 104.3 radio station Kaboom fireworks show that was in May and they were both okay with the loud boom and bangs going off. They just stayed in my bedroom.
Kykat and CM, sounds like you both are in for a fun family weekend. AV, your pizza sounds good. Safe travels to all who are traveling to family events.
I am hoping I can jam out of here by 2:30pm but that will depend on how much work I have to do. I will take a nice toasted sesame bagel with some whipped cream cheese, please. Oh and a cup of mocha too. Thank you very much.

(hope Hubbs never gets sick of pizza, cause it looks like we'll be having that frequently!) LOL.....
.... ok, gotta run to the building dept. now..... probably take me hours!... check ya'll later....

Happy 4th July to all you colonials who are travelling for the holiday. I'll be singing at a big wedding on Saturday and then going to a party for our curates ordination on Sunday AND our rector has been made Bishop of Thetford. He'll be consecrated on 29th September. I hope I can get the day off work to go and see it.
