Hi I'm new here and joined because I have just become an adoptive mother of 2 very cute kittens that were abandoned under my moms neighbors shed. I've decided to keep them both (pebbles and bam bam) Pebbles is doing great she pees fine and poops once a day. BamBam on the other hand is more stubborn and does not want to poop. I have them on the replacement kitten milk and they both eat a good tablespoon to tablespoon and a half of milk every 3-4hours. I've started adding karo syrup to their bottle and it helped him poop two days ago but he hasn't pooped since. tried the warm wash cloth, and even my moms dogs has tried to stimulate him but hasn't worked yet. Not sure what the next step is. I have not been able to make it to the vet yet, as that on top of trying to raise these kittens I'm pregnant and working full time... My moms getting practice at babysitting with these two. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Hi Sarah, and welcome to TDK! Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for you about the "poop problem", but there are many members here who may be able to offer you and your mom some suggestions ~ just keep bumping up this thread because it is a holiday weekend.
You seem to have your hands very full, too, with two kitty babies and yours on the way ~ bless you!!!! {{{Sarah, Pebbles and Bambam}}}}
Do keep us posted ~ Mac and Grommie have their kitty paws crossed for BamBam and Pebbles, too ;-)

Hi, Sarah, welcome to TDK, as a start, click on the pink tags on your post, particularly constipation and poop (pink tags, top right hand corner) to see previous threads on the 'poop thing'. But try not to worry too much, little kittens on KMR don't have to poop every day. Also, these are very good sites for advice on kitten care:
http://www.kittenrescue.org/pages.php?pageid=15
http://www.fanciers.com/cat-faqs/orphans.shtml
http://www.feralcat.com/raising.htmlAlso, as you're pregnant, please be careful, don't scoop out the litter trays but if you have to, always wear gloves, I think it's toxoplasmosis you're trying to avoid but anyway, not good for pregnant mums to be around kitty poop.
Good luck and keep checking back, I'm sure others will be able to help much more!

Three day old abandoned kitten:
Three days ago, I discovered three kittens on the porch of an home where the owner had left quickly. These three kittens were squalling, and flies were swarming around them. They had some disgusting and smelly mass attached to them, and they were all trying desperately to get away from it, but they were all still attached to it. It turns out, it was the placenta. It was probably the Mother cat's first litter, and she didn't know what to do. I rushed them over to a local animal care clinic, and Dr. Roberts got the kittens seperated, tied their umbilical cords, and even picked a few maggots off of one of the kittens. She got them to take a little formula, they all suckled. But sadly, two of them passed away yesterday, and I am trying valiently to keep the last little fighter alive. My problem is that he's not pooping. I have been giving him the powdered KMR that the Dr. gave me, and I was using a little bottle. I have since switched to a syringe, because the baby is fighting taking the bottle. Every couple of hours or so, I get a little bit of formula in him, and I rub him all over, including his little bottom. He finally got out the tiniest little ball of something, but I'm concerned because I thought he'd have more pee and poop. I don't want to lose this baby, too. He's a little squealer, and protests loudly when I try to feed him, and massage him.
I was grateful that the Vet didn't charge me a dime, I have been out of work since last October, and am in a bad way. The last little bit of formula that I gave him, I put two drops of olive oil in it...I'm sure the amount that he ingested was incredibly scant. Can anyone give me some advice as to how I can help this scrappy baby pull through? Thank you all very much!Posted 2 years ago by NJKatwoman #
