Despite combing Mac and Grommie several times a week, they still seem to have hair to shed daily.... Has anyone here tried the "furminator" (it's currently being promoted on Catster)? I've read the product literature, but I'm still unsure ~ it looks like it is some kind of 'razor' comb, and I'm concerned it might potentially cut, or nick my babies. Anyone here have any experience with the furminator?

Furminator ~ HELP ~ do you use one?

KM I use a furminator on all of my cats. You would be amazed at how much more fur I get off of my babies. I have never had an incident where I have cut or knicked one of my cats. The tines/prongs on the furminator are cery close together, closer than a flea comb, and in would be very hard to get anything between the tines other than fur. Hope this helps.

Hey, Kittymom! We actually have two furminator's. One is older and was given to us by a friend. It doesn't work really well. But we have one that we bought at our vet's and it is great. It really gets out that loose fur in the undercoat. You will be amazed! Windi doesn't like it overmuch, but Willow loves to be brushed with her furminator. I don't think it's that Windi doesn't like the way that it feels so much as it's hard for her to sit still to be brushed.
It is the best kitty brush that we have and I think we have a gazillion.

My ex had one and it works like a charm! I would think you would love it. I would get one but my girls HATE to be brushed/combed.

Kittymom, I also have a fabric stool in my livingroom that there is always a cat lounging on & I use the furminator to remove the cat hair from it, it works good for that also!!
