  1. YAY! The stuffing mix is a great idea! I love stuffing anyway and it makes it so easy because it has the seasoning right the mix!

I also got some eggs and plan on making omelettes and some fritattas.
I'm really going to use this little machine to hopefully get a little more protein in my diet. So far, so good!

  2. I just got home from my only cleaning job I have (& it's every 2 weeks) Not enuf to buy bird seed,but....

Anyways I need Sven. My back is trying to work out of joint & I need some tender hands.

Our little town does the neatest thing on all major holidays. They call it 'Flags Over Manteca'. People sponsor each flag & they line them up & down the town (about every 20 ft.) It's the most beautiful site to see all those flags as far as the eye can see all down the streets. Seeing them made me forget about my backache for a little while.
I hope everyone has a safe holiday & is right where they want to be for it.

  3. Sounds nice with the flags, Susie!
I'm at home wit my boys which is just fine with me. I worked 60 hours this week and really need a break.

    Hope your backache improves!

  4. I hope so too. Don't know if Sven does holidays or not,so for the time being...my client let me take a few beers & I'm having a tomato beer. I'm such a lightweight. I have a buzz after half a beer. lol

  5. GD, sending your Dad some healing white light that he is okay. Sending you some reassuring hugs. Hope your brother can get over his being mad and let you know what is going on.

There was the big parade starting at 10am this morning but I didn't feel like going out with all the throngs of people out there. It is suppose to be 3 miles long and takes from 10am-12:30 for it run through the judging. Last year there were 50,000 spectators.

That sounds so cool Feral! I bet it is a very neat sight! My Dad loves flags and I bet he would enjoy that sight.

Okay, I know my property manager and property owner wants to rent the unit below me as soon as possible but the paint guy was scraping along the ceiling last night from 7:30-9pm and he just arrive now (3:35pm)! It is a holiday and he is working! I wonder if this is his second job. If he starts to make the scraping noise I am going to go down and ask him to stop as it is a holiday and deserve some peace and quiet. I will call the property manager to let her know what is going on, that I as a paying tenant deserve some peace and quiet on a national holiday as well as it being a weekend and why can't they scrape and paint during normal business ours like most places do.

  6. Ohhhh, beers!
I've never heard of tomato beers?

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  7. SMM...I know what you mean by all the spectators. As for the noise, maybe it is a second job. Sometimes I plain forget that there is a holiday going on. I'd love to get a pic of the flags & send it to you for your dad. I've heard it's catching on & other towns are doing it,but,I've never seen it anywhere else. It really is cool.

GD...you've never heard of a tomato beer? Wow. And here I thought I was a out of the loop for even drinking them still. I usually mix a little V8 juice into mine, but, only had TJ around this time. Next time your in a bar, have them mix you up one so you can have a taste. I like the idea that I'm getting a buzz & my vegetables at the same time. I don't worry about becoming an alcoholic...I'm too much of a lightweight.

  8. I have it for fact that Sven does work weekends, holidays, evenings, etc. I'll send him right over...

I just had my holiday meal - bbq pork ribs, coleslaw, french fries (only a few), and diet pepsi. I feel great, I'm just a bit sore in a good way from yesterday's workout.

I'll start painting here again in a few minutes. my entire bedroom is going to be dark red, including the doors, trim, and baseboards. it's a lot of detail work, and i'll be glad when it's finished so i can go on to the walls. every surface needs 2 coats, too...(boo !!!), but it will look great once it's done...

i'm doing the bedroom in the same way as my old bedroom in the previous apartment, medieval - with dark red bedspread, pillow shams, and bedskirt with gold curlicues, dark red carpet, gold cotton velvet drapes, huge white reclining unicorn, dark red and gold table runners on all furniture, black cast iron wall sconces and candelabra, white candles, and bed canopy attached to ceiling and puddled on floor with gold tassels at the corners, and reproduction first century crusader'a sword on wall...very dramatic, sexy, and comfortable at the same time...

  9. Thanks for the prayers and hite light, Krin! I hate not knowing what's going on! He's gotten really bad about calling me lately and I didn't even hear from him on my birthday (my brother, either) so I don't know if this is a sudden kind of thing or what it is exactly :(

Sorry the property owner and manager at your place are so unreasonable, Karin - that sucks! I know wht it's like to live in a place you d't feel comfortable. If I stay at this new job and make enough money, I want to move out of here finally - I would so love to do that!!

Hmmm, Susie - I may have to give that a try....

  10. TOMATO BEER???? You have got to be kidding me! YUCK! I like the thick dark European beers but the thought of tomato in my beer is not a pleasent one! LOL Oh GD, you are going to be a COOK! I need the protein too. Since my surgery I have been doing protein shakes consistently but I really want to grow my hair back as quickly as possible. Not to mention it is all falling out. Feral, relax and put your feet up. My girls are hiding now as the people in the neighborhood are starting setting off fireworks. It scares them!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  11. My two little weirdos are pretty good with fireworks. Last year, Bobby sat in the window all night, watching them. They're used to noises and louds booms frm all the wild thunderstorms here.
I'm working on the becoming a cook thing. I was never crazy about cooking but I always loved to bake! I barely ever eat meat but this is an easy way for me to cook some and get that protein. Yay!

Vheri - sounds like quite a project! I bet it's going to look awesome when you're done!

  12. I have a taste for turkey meatballs now!

  13. here's what my old bedroom looked like. the new one will be almost exactly the same. notes: the kitty on the bed is velvet, the other one is Edouard, a statue, and that is me in one of my medieval outfits, the long hair is fake...

  14. Very cool, Cheri!!

I have a craving for them, too, MC! They were supposed to be for later, though!
I just went and ordered prints of photos for my dad. He'd asked for pictures a few months back. I was very annoyed. I've been going to Ritz Camera to get prints done, and had bought a card for 350 exposores, prepaid. They've always done a nice job and are very helpful. However, they closed a ton of their stores and now they have none near me! The closest is 45 minutes away. I can use my prepaid card online and order prints but then I have to pay for shipping and wait about 2 weeks! Arrrrgh!
I ordered from CVS on the corner instead and can pick them up tomorrow morning and get them sent off to my dad.

Bob is meowing at me, but he didn't want to eat his dinner :(

  15. We call those Bloody Beers and they are THE best thing for when you are so hot and about to melt - like after an afternoon of yard work. We put one can of beer in a frosted mug and fill it up with tomato juice (low sodium) and then lots of freshly ground black pepper on top. I know it sounds disgusting, but you have got to try it!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  16. Of course LOW SODIUM! LOL I drink only low sodium tomato juice, but without the beer! GD, you are quite the cook! *note to self-NEVER break into Cheri's house, she has a sword on the wall!* Nice pix Cheri, I love the bedroom!

  17. Well, the noise downstairs cranked up to ear splitting so I called the property manager. Did she do anything, no. So I went down to the unit below me and sort of forcefully said to the painter guy, why are you working on a national holiday and to please stop. In fact could they come back on Monday when no one would be home (except my poor cats). He said he was sorry, said they would stop and with an accent. I felt so bad after I went back to my place. This could be this guy's second job and he may need the money and all. He and his helper drove off, so if I see him on Monday I am going to apologize. I feel really bad about it. I get so angry so easily nowadays what with my stress levels being a bit high lately. I need to learn to manage my frustration so it doesn't erupt into this kind of anger.

Tomato beers..now that sounds interesting. Not sure I would like it but I am willing to give it a try. I assume V8 works or is it just plain low sodium tomato juice?

Feral that would be cool if you can get a photo. I can also look on the City of Manteca's website. They might have a photo of it. I see it is a manageable 87 degrees in your area. It is 71 degrees here right now.

Very cool bedroom setup, Cheri! Very nice! Nice deterent for break-ins..a sword on the wall. Yowza!

  18. Thank Goodness someone came along familiar w/tomato beers & actually likes them. They really do taste much better than they sound. And Frosted mugs are the way to go.

Cheri...totally brave you are to paint an entire room the color red...but it works with the decor. I can't get over how different you look in your outfit & wig as well. Wow!

SMM...the temps are almost always 3-5 degrees hotter here than they say they'll be. I'm sure it was hotter here than that. The swamp cooler is still going at this time in the evening. lol. I also use V8.Lots more vitamins that way too. lol.

  19. Smm...I found myself googling "Flags Over Manteca". I didn't have much time to go thru the pages. I'm looking for a possible video of them. So far, only seeing still shots. I'll go back later. Now I have to go pack up some donation things I've got set aside. Bye everyone! Happy & Safe 4th!!
