Hi all! I'm back from a trip to Indiana-spent the weekend with my sister who lives there, my sister from Virginia, my brother (who drove me down there) and my other brother, also from Michigan. It rained 4 out of 5 days, but we still had a great time. I was so happy to get back to Max and Cali--and they were really happy to see me!! I just gave Cali the plastic ring off a milk bottle (have never used those as toys because Max and Molly never paid any attention to them) and she looks like a little acrobat! She's having a ball! Such fun!

Wow, it is quiet this morning. Seems as though a number of folks are on vacation. I am at work with everyone back from travel last week (they visited our distribution center in Indiana for an audit of some sort). I had Friday off for the holiday and for the most part relaxed as best I could with the usual people coming and going to and from my apt complex. Friday night I had a painter in the unit below me scraping paint from 7:30-9pm. I went down at 9pm to ask if he was finished as the scraping noise was painful to hear. Thankfully he was done but on Sat he came back around 3pm in the afternoon and started to use some sort of painting machinery that was so loud it was making my place vibrate. I called the property manager to ask her to get them to stop but she did nothing so I had to go down and ask him to stop as it was a national holiday. I was a bit brisk with the guy and felt bad afterwards as it could be it is second job and he needs the money. If I see him today, I will apologize. Hopefully if he is here today, he will be done with any noise making by 5pm. If not, I will go down and nicely ask him to stop. I know they need to re-rent the unit but I pay way too much rent to have my weekends and evenings ruined just so they can get their unit painted and rented.
Sunday I picked up my Grandmother and we drove out to my parents place for a post Fourth of July get together. Mom made hot dogs for lunch along with nachos and cheese and later on for dinner we all had baked chicken, potato salad, green salad with heirloom tomatoes, and baked beans. Dessert was a hot fudge sundae with fresh strawberries. It was all very delicious.
It seems my parent's neighbors have a adopted a new kitty and because they are away so much it is coming over to my parent's house. Dad is not amused but Mom likes having her around. The cat is probably not more than a year or so and is kind of on the thin side. Mom says the neighbors feed her but she apparently is starved for affection and some water. So my mom gives her water and a little affection. Dad says don't give her too much as they don't want her to adopt them. While we were visiting, to my delight the little cat came to visit. She is a lovely tortie cat and so affectionate. I gave her lots of petting and scritchies around her ears and she curled her paws in ecstacy and purred up a storm. I wanted to take her home but Mom said she had a home. I said if it becomes more and more apparent that the neighbors aren't taking care of her, I told my Mom I volunteered to help this little kitty (either keep her with me or find her a better home). Anyways, it was a long day. Left the house at 10:45am and didn't get home till 9:15pm. I was woken at 2am with a pins and needles headache. Took some tylenol and managed to sleep but woke up with a slight headache this morning. Guess all the driving effected me. I should have taken today off. Oh well. Hope everyone had a nice Fourth of July Holiday weekend.

Good evening everyone
After the excitement of the tennis at the weekend and a week off school because we were shut for swine flu, it was back to work with a vengeance today. I managed 10 minutes for lunch (a bowl of cereal with fat free yoghurt)and worked from 7.30 am until 6.00pm when the site manager very politely told me he was locking up for the day - a code for please get out of here. I'm now officially tired and wishing Hazel would get her lazy butt over here and cook my dinner, clean the house and especially empty the litter trays. :-)

That lazy Hazel failed to show up here, too PM. You just can't get reliable help these days!

I think we'll have to sack her and find someone who does show up and who does the work properly.

Hey everyone my Hazel is home!!! She did half the dishes and a load of laundry then got sidetracked! Something shiny probably flashed by her and that was it!!
I on the other hand was able to steam clean the diningroom, livingroom, laundry room (litter box is in there) and daughter's bedroom! Should help with the allergy situation!

I've just read an email from my sister. My Mum's dog, Leila, died this morning. When Mum died, 3 years ago, my sister took Leila to live with her. She was already a fairly elderly dog, but she always behaved like a puppy, so we tended to forget her true age. She was a whippet cross and therefore totally crazy.
One of my aunts also fell ill a week ago and refused to allow her neighbour to call my cousin (her daughter). As a result it was 4 days before daughter found her and rushed her to hospital. She was severely dehydrated and has kidney damage. We don't know if she will pull through.
Feeling a bit blue.Posted 2 years ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

Oh dear PM!! I am so sorry. Leila is now with your Mum and that has to be some comfort, especially since they were close.
Healing prayers for your Aunt! I truly wished the neighbor had called regardless of what your aunt may have wanted. Prays that her kidney damage is not severe and will heal. Prayers of peace and comfort to you and your family!

Hi all, back from our weekend away, had a great time - saw an exhibition by the contemporary artist Banksy, well worth a Google if you've not heard of him.
SM, glad your daughter is home safe and sound :o)
PM, sorry to hear about Leila and your aunt {{{hugs}}}

Thank you. I agree the neighbour should have called my cousin, but knowing my Aunt I can understand why she didn't.

MCW - where is the Banksie exhibition? Is it in Bristol? I seem to remember seeing a news item about it and it's down there somewhere.
How's your neck now?

Isn't it about time for another TDK UK meet? We'll have to change the venue as our regular pub closes early on Saturdays now. Where and when do you suggest? Who else would be up for a meet?

Hi Kilroy! - glad you had a good time. SM - how come England didn't make the shortlist? lol
PM, yes, the exhibition is in Bristol, at the city museum, so free admission. Queue was about 1 hour to get through, not bad for a Saturday, and WELL worth it. It's on til 31 August, if you get a chance, go!!
Certainly am up for a TDK UK Meet, shall I email Rubia and see when she's next back in the UK and take it from there?

Hmmm, neck. Not too bad at the moment actually, behaving reasonably well as long as I take the tablets on time (and have cut down nightime dose, was making me too drowsy the next morning). Thanks for asking!

PM, I am sorry about Leila and your Aunt. Sending some healing prayers and white light that they are able to help her.
Also, sorry for my detail posting this am. I will try to keep them short and sweet from now on.

Don't be daft SMM! That little tortie kitten sounds like a sweetheart, I hope her owners aren't neglecting her. SMM to the rescue if they are though, good for you!

MCW she liked London. She was also in Birmingham, but she really didn't spend much time in England. I think she would have loved it if she had spent more time there. She spent a week each in Ireland and Scotland. The other week was split in England and Wales. She loved the people in Wales, but the funny part is she ended up with a group of Irish people in Wales. We have a family friend from Braintree and my daughter wanted to go there--she has heard so many stories, but not on the agenda.

PM, I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt and Leila. It's hard to go around of the wishes of elderly people. I'm sure that the neighbor felt badly but was caught in between.
So glad that your neck is some better, MCW!
