  2. Oh, no!!! I'm in West Texas so I'm afraid that there's nothing I can do to help. I didn't go and look at their little pictures because I knew that I would end up in tears. Hopefully people will step forward to help these little ones.

  10. now wait a minute....can't we get a petition going or sumthing? surely we can do SUMTHING! it's so sad that is legal to euth animals but it's illegal to murder ppl. it should not be legal in any case...animals have lives too. we can't say we can't do anything...we have to put our heads together and think of what we CAN do!

  11. Oh, I know how everyone feels and I feel horrible posting but you never know when a person will read this who lives in the area and can help. Any way I am also a firm believer that there is power in prayer. So even praying for these babies is a god thing and if you aren't a praying person sending them well wishes is worth it. Many cats were rescued. I also beleive just acknowledging the lives of the ones who didn't make it matters.

There are a lot of people upset about euthing. There is a whole NO-kill movement for those who don't know about it . Nathan Winogard is a leader in this movement. He wrote a book called REDEMPTION.
I will get the link and post.
Nirmal, You have a great idea.

Elizabeth did you have a chance to read the thread from Rainingwolf this morning regarding No kill shelters...it is at least encouraging..

  13. "If every animal shelter in the United States embraced the No Kill philosophy and the programs and services that make it a reality, we would save nearly four million dogs and cats who are scheduled to die in shelters this year, and the year after that. It is not an impossible dream."

  14. 2BPurring, I just read the article Raining Wolf posted. It is encouraging. That is why anything each of us can do like crossposting animals in urgent situations, volunteering to help shelters with marketing, educating the public fund raising, sponsoring an animal or donating food (If we have funds) or walking dogs etc matters. I hope the No-Kill Dream comes true. There are so many animal lovers. Our voices do have power.

Glad you found the link for NW.

  15. I used to be a teacher in Newnan GA. Our classroom sponsored Newnan humane efforts. I had really hoped their no-kill shelter would have become a reality by now. The humane groups really worked at educating the public, but apparently there is still a long way to go. This situation is so maddening and so sad, and remember, it's not just this little community that has this to deal with!
I believe below-cost or no-cost neuterings should be made regularly available, with any funds to be had.
