  1. Hi family! I think some of you recall my horrific headache of about a week and a half ago. I had a bunch of tests run to make sure everything was ok. The neurosurgeon said they were "essentially normal" with the exception of my brain swelling. I still have quite a bit which isn't uncommon for the type of surgery I had. To speed along the process he is going to put me on steroids and that supposedly decreases brain swelling. Besides that, he said I am way ahead in terms of my healing! Of course I still need lots of naps (yay!) and wear out quickly. Again, thanks for your prayers and continued concern and well wishes! (((TDK)))

  2. {{{MC}}} I'm glad you got some answers, and I hope the steroids help. Keep taking naps! Naps are wonderful things!

  3. ((MC)) That's wonderful news that you are healing so well. I am glad that he could put you on something that will hopefully help the swelling and therefore the headaches! I love naps, take them for me too please :)

  5. Fantastic news MC, I hope the steroids help and the headaches ease back. I bet you nap with the girls.

  6. Yay, you're still the Miracle Kid. But those headaches and swelling don't sound too good :( I hope the steroids work wonders, MC, and keep taking it easy. Napping with kitties is the very BEST way to nap, especially when they snuggle into you and snore softly, tee hee.

  7. ((( MC ))) I hope the steroids help you and you begin feeling better soon. You are in my prayers as you continue on the road to recovery, take it easy my dear, your girls will help too ;o)

  8. MC, good news that you are healing so well. I hope the steriods help with the swelling. Take lots of "cat"naps. Naps help the body to be quiet and rest while the healing takes place.

  9. Hi MC - I'm glad you are healing well and have a diagnosis on that nasty headache. I like the nap taking part too - naps are great. Laid down the other day and woke to find Leela laying on me - she never does that! A very pleasant surprise.
Good luck with the steriods, I sure hope they help.

  12. MC - great news! HUGS to you and the girls!

I go back to see my surgeon this Thursday. I have done a six block walk outside with my PT, and am feeling better and better. I have stopped the narcotics and switched to just tylenol every 5 or 6 hours as needed, ususally post exercises! Swelling is down a lot, I can take real showers again, and am working hard on balance and muscle strengthening. Have been having computer problems, so cannot post much... Thanks again to all for your support, and sorry to poach on the thread....

  13. MC...glad your doc thinks your healing fast. I also hope the steroids do the trick to bring the swelling down. Steroids can work miracles, when used properly.
I also hope you didn't start back to work too soon. Using all those smarts you have may be too much to soon for you to handle. :)

  15. Good news, MC! A prescription for naps? I'm going to look into that! Better stock your refrigerator because the steroids just might give you a severe case of the munchies!

  20. Good news for MC and Nawlins Catmom, glad to hear it. Keep, as they say, taking the tablets, great to hear you're both doing so well.

I hope they're cat naps, not just plain ol' boring naps... ;o)

  25. MC, you posted on another thread that you weren't feeling well. Food poisoning? How are you doing now?

Posted 2 years ago by GizzysAuntie #

  26. My tummy is gurgling and not very settled.

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  27. Bleh. I do have to tell you, there is alot of flu going around here. I need one of those "nap prescriptions".

Posted 2 years ago by NNGM #

  28. MC you may need to cushion that steroid with a few saltines. Better the bitter pill than the flu!

I too am on nap alert. I can push through work for about 2 hrs then run out of steam. About 3 hrs later I can resume (30 min wind down, 2 hr nap, 30 min rev up) and do another 2. I did 6 today.

  29. I took my steroids and I don't notice my brain getting any smaller! LOL

  30. Is your stomach upset from the med? Here's to a "shrinking" brain :))))
