  2. I lit a candle for Bones, too. How did he get the name, anyway?

  3. Bones actually came to Mum when he was about 8 years old - Mum had just lost her cat Dibble, and my Dad only a few weeks before that. Bones' former owner had him from a kitten, had rescued him as "a bag of bones of a kitten" - and the name stuck. He had recently remarried & his new wife was severley allergic, so Bones came into Mum's life.

  4. Bones I hope your Antipodean 'girlfriend' Mitzi was there to welcome you over the Bridge. It's been a month and a week since she left us, exactly like you and at the same age. [{{hugs}}} to your Mother MCW and for you too.

And God asked the feline spirit,
"Are you ready to come home?"
"Oh yes, quite so" replied the precious soul.
"And as a cat, you know I am most able to decide anything for myself."

"Are you coming then?' asked God.
    "Soon." replied the whiskered angel,
    "But I must come slowly,
Because my human friends are troubled, for you see,
    They need me,quiet certainly."

"But don't they understand?" asked God.
"That you will never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined for all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed,?
It just is. . . . forever and ever and ever"

    "Eventually they will understand,"
    replied the cat.
"For I will whisper in their hearts that I am always with them.
"That I just am. . . forever and ever and ever."

  6. MS, I love that poem. So beautiful. Whiskers greets Bones along with all the other kitties offering to show him the best places to try to catch butterflies and eat tender catnip. Sending condolences and hugs to Mum and you MCW.

I found this poem as I was wandering looking for something about cats being angels and all....

    Solace -

From the silence of your pain I heard my name
and on the wings of light I have come
to see the sadness in your eyes
    that cry without tears

Can you see me, I am here
I will always be near you
    to calm your shattered heart
and to make you smile at the memories

Do you feel me, perhaps a soft brush of fur
You ache to believe it's real
but you are afraid to hope
You brush away a strand of hair
    But it was I, whispering.....

I am only here for but a moment
    The silver thread gently quivers
I will leave behind my love in a dream
When you awaken, and without really knowing why

Your heart will know at last
That it is all right, for now
    to say good-bye

  7. I was so terribly sad to read the passing of Bones has come. Bones was so blessed to have you and mum as his caretakers on his earthly journey. I can only imagine how many of our TDK kitties at the bridge came running to greet him. They are all running thru fields of catnip and clover, not a care or pain in this afterlife. I am sure he is looking down on you and mum and wishing you wouldn't hurt or be sad. I pray that the pain will lessen and you will smile with good thoughts and stories of our dear elderly TDK "kitty", Bones! Hugs and prayers to you and mum!

  9. I am so sad to hear of Bone's passing. My condolences to you, MCW and to your mum. I hope that it helps knowing that he had a good, long life, and that he knew that he was much loved by you and your mum. It is good to know that now he is at the Bridge, young and healthy again, and playing with all the other kitties who have gone ahead. {{{MCW & Mum}}}

  12. MCW & Mum,
Can you feel the big Texas hugs and the sweet tears for you both? Bones was so lucky to have so much love and such brave women to watch after him. I admire your courage, sensitivity and kind hearts. I am sending healing thoughts, love, hugs, prayers and blessings to you. Wilbur and T-Do are sitting here with me and I hope that you know how much we are thinking of you and your loss. I will hug them more and be thankful for the time I have with them. You have set a wonderful example of loving care. I will be thinking of you and Mum this evening. I plan on making a donation to the Community Care division of the vet school in sweet Bone's name. Hope you don't mind. Love to you.

  13. MCW,
Forgot to tell you that we lit candles from all of us. Sweet Bones.....Rest in Peace. My little Shih Tzu Sophie was waiting for you at the bridge. She loves kitties! She is the white one with brindle ears. Don't be afraid Bones, she loves to kiss kitties and curl up for naps with kitties!

  14. Blessings to you and your Mum, Bones was well loved and he loved in return. He was surely met by a horde of others who had crossed before, all those name above and my Kinker was there also. He will be watching as well as the others do of those they left on this earthly plane, Godspeed Bones and peace be with you my friend.

  16. How sad to see that Bones' transition has come. I'm sure my big, dignified Sam was there with all the others to greet him and show him the best patches of sunlight and the deepest grass to roll in. Rest knowing that you did the best you could for your beloved friend. I agree with Paulajeanne, it is a blessing to depart in a familiar place with beloved faces around you. Would that we humans had that option more often ourselves.

  19. MCW and MCW's Mum, I'm so, so sorry to hear about Bones. He must have loved you very much and enjoyed the most wonderful, cherished life to stay with you for 20 years; that's a great age for a beloved cat. He is at rest, now, and he passed from this life surrounded by love and concern and grief. I hope we will all be so lucky. {{{HUGS}}} to you both.

  20. This is the worst part of pet ownership, eh? I am so sorry for both you and your mother. At 20 years, Bones was a beloved family member. And now he is a beloved member of another family in Heaven. RIP, sweet baby.

  23. So so sorry to hear about this, Bones was a wonderful cat and very well loved. I am so glad though that you had the chance to help him at the end and be with him. I hope the many happy memories of him will help you through, but I know how very hard it is just now. ((hugs))

  24. MCW, what can I possibly add? The words of my littermates here outshine anything I could ever compose. You know the depth of my sympathy, and I hope you will express it to your mother.

You know, I didn't really believe that our kitties went to heaven before I came to TDK, I despaired of ever seeing them again. The reassurances of The Believers here have changed my mind and expanded my heart. I wish I were there so I could give you a huge, warm hug and do my best to make it better. 20 years! He must have loved you so!

  28. MCW, {{{hugs}}} for you and your Mum. Blessings for precious Bones.

A friend of mine is now dealing with the passing of her mother (just shortly after my mother) and she was reading a book about life after life; she said to me there is something here about 'animals in heaven' you might want to read.....
I told her I don't need to read that because I know for sure that regardless of what happens to us, if there is a heaven, our animals will be there, where they belong....

And, I, too, lit a candle for Bones here
