  5. i would add to these:

Please, do not let me suffer or be in pain at the end of my life. But please do be with me until the end...

  6. Velvet let me know when it was time to go. It was the most difficult thing I've ever done in my life, by far, but I let her go with dignity and peace. We took the better part of a day to say our goodbyes. I gave her an entire can of human tuna and then I changed into a black velvet jogging suit. I unzipped the front and let her nestle inside it, my skin and her fur touching. That's the way we drove to the animal hospital and waited for the doctor. I would have done two things differently. The first would have been to have had the painless shot thru the renal artery so they would not have had to take her from me to put in a catheter and bring her back out. I also wished I would have closed her eyes during the shot. It was unnerving to see her lying there, dead with her eyes open and sightless...

  7. Aw Cheri, she knew you luved her...you did what you thought was right at that time. Our special kits probably sense more things than we sometimes think. They will tell us that when we meet again in Peace & Bliss!
PS...I think this thread can be viewed at least once a month for a reminder...thanks for the add-ons Cheri & again Jymberry!

  8. Cheri, that happened with me and my darling Daisy. It was so difficult to see her with her eyes still open.

Now, however, I know what she was looking at.

She was looking upward into the tender and loving gaze of the Wolf of Gubbio.

Daisy and Velvet are both friends in the Meadow. They are at peace, and they will wait for us.

  9. This place is just an awesome feel-good place. The people are awesome, the friendship is awesome, advice is awesome, comforting is awesome, what else?
Everything about TDK is awesome. Oh the kitties too of course.
This is what I want to do--I want to retire from my job. Stay at home, and be a hermit, and stay on TDK all day. Wow what a plan.
Cheri, that was beautiful about Velvet's last day.
    JB that post was beautiful.

  10. I felt a need to bump this up after seeing the video of the cat as trash! Ugh, that woman's actions rekindled the flame in me to say our kits are worth more than silver or gold. They will always be our special fur-butts as they grow old along with us!

  11. Bumping for newbies!

Posted 1 year ago by jeankit #

  12. I wish everyone would abide by these commandments. I am not directing this at anyone on our site, but I see a lot of people get a kitten because it's cute and fuzzy. Then, if the kitten is sick, they can't even figure out whether or not to take it to the vet (even though it's clearly in distress), assume it will be fine, or use lack of funds as an ecxuse for neglecting health of a pet. I would rob a bank, ask a charity, or give plasma for my pet. People really should think carefully before getting a pet or taking on new ones. I can easily afford my kitty, but I thought very long and hard about what kind of commitment he would be. It really distresses me that people treat their pets carelessly.

  22. Thanks Jeankit for bumping this... it put me to tears, especially the last one... My most loved, sweetest kitty ever suddenly got really sick and passed away almost two months ago now at a really young age. The last day she was on iv fluids and in a cage at the vets; I know that she loved having me around and felt so much better when I was there so I tried to stay with her and hug her and hold her; the vet was trying to explain to me that I was just stressing her out and to leave her alone but I knew her better. When he finally got me out of there, as I was walking out I looked back at her and she actually looked up at me with such eyes, like she knew. I still cry and think about her all the time, I always will, Thank you so much for sharing these commandments, they are so true and everyone should read them.

    <3 rest in peace Adriana

Posted 1 month ago by jeankit #

  30. Respect your Cat Day? I thought that was EVERY day??

You know I was just thinking (yes I do that sometimes :) That all people, when adopting or purchasing a cat should be giving these commandments. Would make so many kitties happier in their new homes.
