My mom is now in a rehab center. She has recovered from her pneumonia and then had a mini stroke, though the hospital was able to catch and treat it quickly so there was little damage. She will be in the rehab center for about 8 weeks or so-she lost a lot of weight and is very fragile and unable yet to have the strength to walk. Hubby and I are taking care of all her finances and insurance stuff for the forseeable future, and that is a mess I won't go into except to say that even though I spent 7 years once at Blue Cross teaching contracts, I have never seen an insurance mess like hers! I am with Kucinich on this one---single payer universal health care, please! I literally spend about 4 hours each day with the insurance people trying to unravel things. But hey, other than that..... ;-)
Seriously, Mom is slowly improving and that's the best, so I can deal with anything else!
And btw, I did take the advice of many of you and wrote her a letter teling her how I felt about her and all the things she has done for me...we both cried, and I think she liked it.

That is such good news. So great that you were able to have that contact with her also. I wish I had been able to do something like that with my dad. Keep your chin up, dear, wishing you luck with the insurance headaches! I'm cringing at the thought of them on your behalf.
