Our GPS is named Hallie because of the computer Hal in 2001, A Space Odyssey. She just sort of sounds like Hal and has an attitude like Hal. We're such cheap entertainment - we programmed her to speak in German because we thought that it sounded hysterical. Problem was, we kept getting lost. So now she speaks in a very nice English accent. She doesn't sound so obnoxious that way when she shouts, "Off route. Recalculating".
