Arrrrgh - just back from interesting adventure!
Was going shopping in a nearby town and was in the middle of nowhere when all of a sudden my steering wheel froze and my car started "ding'ing" at me. Pulled to the side of the road. Called XBF for half an hour and he was nowhere to be found, so I had to call a tow truck.
The guy barely spoke any English and was having trouble understanding my directions. Finally got there way later than he was supposed to. Dumb*** brought his wife (or whatever she was) so he told me I had to ride in my car in the back. Yikes! I held on for dear life back there and did not feel safe in the least!
OB told me he dosn't think it's legal to have someone back there in their car getting towed. I've never seen anyone be towed that way, myself!
Anyway, got towed back to the mechanic in my town who of course is closed today. Left the car there for tomorrow.
Stupid driver charged me $115 for the ride (17 miles) and then told me he didn't accept credit cards! I had to walk (it was pouring!) across the street to the bank and get out money from the ATM while he followed me over in his dry truck!
Noone was answering their phones, so I had to walk home 25 minutes in the pouring rain, too :(
I'm going to go see the mechanic tomorrow morning. The driver told me it was a belt so we'll see. Chances are, I won't be able to pay to get it fixed til I get paid on Friday from the new job. As it is, I'm having to take tomorrow off from the new job, as I can't fit that in with the mechanic and no car.
I can take a bus straight to the gym and I'm hoping GG will agree to drive me home tomorrow night, though he mentioned having some car issues himself.
