  1. yes, "ack" on the heat!.... 92 here tomorrow!.... and I have to go to a job interview!... wish me luck!.......

..... I wasn't really expecting this, but about 6 mos ago (I probably posted about it), I presented a concept presentation to a major realty firm in my City to open a new branch for them...... it went well, but they weren't willing to pay what I wanted/needed to focus all my expertise/attention on them... so I didn't take their offer..... well, out of the blue, last week, the regional manager of the firm call me, and said he had "let his in town manager" go, and wanted to interview me for the position..... I'm intrigued as to what he has to say..... so I'm going....... paws crossed, maybe this will be what I've been hoping for!

  2. Hi all! Loooong day!
XBF picked me up around 8:00 and drove me to the new job. Worked 8:30-2:00 and then caught a bus from across the street for an hour back to my town. Ran into the mall, got a salad to go, ran back out and caught another bus to work. Got here at 4:15 and working til 9:00.
XBF was supposed to drive me home, but ha called and said he can't so I'm looking at a 12 miles walk home :(

I won't be too pissed with him because he's been dealing with the mechanic and also asked the guys at the new job to pay me early so I can gt my car fixed. They worked on it today, and hopefully I'll be able to write them a check tomorrow and get the car back.
I'm worried about driving 80 miles a day with a water pump that's about to go, but that's what I'll have to do until I can pay to get that fixed.

  3. Good luck AV! Oh, GD, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

  4. And still no ride home :(

Posted 8 months ago by GreatDane #

  5. You are going to walk 12 miles in the dark GD?! No no no! What about GG? or old boss? or Ellen? or another friend? this is the time to call in favors or ask for help...or tell XBF that you don't have ride and it's not safe for you to do this!!! Ask him to pay for a cab at least!

Posted 8 months ago by linda #

  6. (((Linda))) I got one!!! One of the guys who works out here left around 15 minutes ago and sid he'd come back and get me. Yay! I was prepared to walk.

Posted 8 months ago by GreatDane #

  7. Wow! I had put on Facebook that I didn't have a ride. Just got a call from an independent trainer here who's my friend on FB. He told me he'd seen my status on FB and called to offer me a ride home.
There really are a lot of nice people in the world! :)

  8. I am so glad GD that you have a ride and that another person offered. That is unbelievable what XBF just did and he knows you would be walking. He has lost major points in my book even if he helps you with your car. I agree with Linda in that XBF should offer to pay for a cab.

  9. GD, please, please promise me that you will never ever walk 12 miles home in the dark. It is not safe in NZ so I dread to think how dangerous it must be where you are. Even if you can't afford a taxi, if the worst comes to the worst, take one and put it on the credit card. It is not worth the risk. I would be terribly worried about you if I thought you were ever seriously considering that. {{{HUGS}}}

If you don't have a credit card (which is very sensible), get one solely for emergencies like this, and just slip it away in your wallet...

  12. Made it home!!! Thanks for your concern, everyone. I hate asking favors of people! I hadn't even asked the guy who drove me home for a ride but had mentioned I didn't have a car. When he left I was speaking to someone and he waited around to tell me he'd come back for me!

Anyway - just wnted to let you all know I made it home safely! :)

  13. Good karma for the guy who offered and drove you home, GD. I am glad you made it home safely. Thank you for letting us worriers know.

  14. I'm glad you're home safe, GD. I am home, um, tipsy. I just met up with a friend of mine that I hadn't seen in 25+ years(!!). Needless to say, one drink turned into two, which is more than I should have on a work night :( Poor Georgie! Mamma didn't get home until 3 hours after his dinner time! (bad mamma!). Luckily, Auntie Ina from down the hall stopped in and kept him company.

  15. Yay - sounds like you had fun, Kilroy!

As awful as the gym can be, there are also some really nice people around there. The independent trainer just sent me a message on facebook giving me his phone number and telling me to call him any time I need a ride.

I'm going to hop in front of the TV and wind down. Long day today - left at 8:00 this morning and got home after 9:30 tonight!
    Have a great night, everyone!

  16. Bah, not a good day. Still sad about the anniversary of the loss of my friend, got in trouble during class for forgetting my syllabus, and got sick to my tummy after literally every single meal I ate today...small bug, maybe? I don't know. Hope tomorrow is better.

Kilroy didnt you say you are seeing harry potter this week? Which theater are you seeing it at? I wanted to see it at lincoln square imax sometime this week but they are all (well, mostly all) sold out :(

Posted 8 months ago by ginirosaru #

  17. (((Gini))) I'm sorry you had such a crappy day. We're going to the Regal Cinemas at 42nd St. at 10am on Sunday. I decided the Imax wasn't worth the price.
