  1. I just thought I'd take a minute and update everyone on Topaz, who adopted my boyfriend and me back in March.

She's a sweetie with me, my BF and our orange boy, Snake, and is getting along better (although not well) with the other two. She likes to hop up on our chests, check us out for a couple seconds, then goes galloping off again, but she's starting to cuddle more and sleep by my feet.

She has gotten to be a big girl, though, and her paws seem huge to me. She easily outweighs Spook, and may even outweigh Snake.

(On a side note, when Snake went to the vet last week for his shots, the vet commented that he's very muscled -- it has to be because he's the only one the other cats like to play with.)

Topaz still purrs loudly, and is so mischievous. Her favorite spot is the window above our kitchen sink, and if we make the mistake of putting anything in that window, well, it ends up in the sink.

She's definitely in adolescent stage, and her nicknames are Taz, Spaz, Spazzer and Trouble.

I didn't know I needed her in my life until she came along!

  3. Thank you for the update, Catherine. Of course, I got to hear about Topaz from you personally (if memory serves me correctly)! I think you hadn't decided on a name, but strongly considering Topaz.

  5. Catherine I am glad she found you! You both were meant to be together! She is a lucky kid!

  6. Actually, I can't remember now why we named her Topaz. She rarely gets called that. (Of course, I have nicknames for Spook, Rattlesnake and Chris, so I guess that's just tradition in my home).

Joan, she didn't adopt us until after we got back from New York. In fact, she found us the night we brought the other three home from the sitter's (she has an excellent sense of timing).

But I'll get to keep them all together when I move next month, and they'll have stairs to play with!

  9. I guess since I had recently met you, my mind registered stuff you wrote as though you were there telling me about it. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!

  10. She's so beautiful, Catherine. I'm so glad you guys decided to keep her after she found you guys - lol. She looks so huggable and cuddly.

  11. I also call her the neck-less wonder, because if you pick her up, she tends to just let her head loll back as she watches the world.

HM, I'm just glad we were able to keep her, what with my pending move. It was tough finding a place that would permit all four of my goof troop.

  12. What a sweet little girl!

Where are you moving to? Are you excited to go to a new place?

  13. Moving to a studio apartment in Denton, and feeling very overwhelmed with all that needs to be done before a big move like that! The move's next month, though, so I have a little time.

  14. I know the feeling. It took me over a month to pack before I moved last year and I still wound up running around at the last minute. Hope you guys enjoy the new place!

  16. Well, I wasn't initially planning to keep her! But she's got a spot in my heart now!

I think she might have a trace of Maine coon in her, seeing how she has gotten so big. Like I said, she's about a year old and dwarfs tiny, dainty Spook.
