Rest In Peace, Gracie

(24 posts)
  1. My sweet Gracie has been sick for the past year and a half, and slowly wasting away. The vet never was able to figure out what was wrong or even treat the symptoms. Yesterday, I decided to put an end to her suffering. She was bone thin, unable to eat much wet food, unable to keep down any dry food, although she always tried. She was getting weak, and sadly inactive. I decided it was just time.

I stayed home from work, and spent the day with her. Had a nice last nap together, lots of petting and cuddles. The vet's office was very kind, and she went very quickly and peacefully. It was really nice to be able to say goodbye to this one. No more yucky special foods. No more sore butt from 19 months of diarrhea. No more trips to the vet to get poked and prodded. No more hassled from other bigger girl cats. Just peace and love over the rainbow bridge.

    She will be missed. http://www.whistl.com/blogs/media/blogs/blog/RIPGracie.jpg

  2. Whistl, my heart goes out to you. Please accept some virtual hugs! It is so hard to let our furbabies go. I can tell by your post you knew it was time and you feel somewhat relieved for her. Knowing she is happy and healthy at the Bridge and will be waiting for you is some peace to help you thru. Sending you prayers to help you heal! (((WHISTL)))

  7. {{{Whistl}}} Gracie sounds like my 16 year old Jiggs. I knew he was sick, but he was sooo happy at home and sooo agitated when he had to travel. I too didn't want him to go thru a lot of poking and prodding when all he wanted was to be home with mama. When his beautiful eyes told me he was ready, I let him go.
So since I spoke of him, he is probably with Gracie right now, showing her the breathtaking stream that runs thru the meadow by the bridge as the resident kitties plan a warm homecoming.
My utmost condolences to you. Gracie is fine now, but it is ever so hard for those who loved her left behind.

  18. It is always so hard to let go of our furry ones. Even when we know in our heads that it's time, our hearts beg for just a few more days, hours or moments. And it's our hearts that hurt the most when they are gone. Be at peace, as Gracie is at peace. One of these days, she'll come back in a dream or a phantom brush against your leg or hand to let you know all is well.

  24. Tears for poor Gracie, lovely old girl - she found a loving home with you and your wonderful large feline family. You are an amazing carer and home-provider for kitties, just looking at your catster page. Bless you and all your furballs, and may Gracie rest and play in peace.
