  1. wow MS, that is a busy day. Nice that Airy and your Mum got to chat and sew :)
AV, I can't even care for a silk plant, those die on me too..I am useless when it comes to plants, flowers etc.

  2. Leela's new chew toy seems to be my ankles! Yesterday she got downright rough with me. She has her annual wellness check next Tuesday along with a rabies shot so I can renew her license and I have to remember to tell them she's no Shaddo and Jiggs; get the heavy-duty gloves out!

  3. CM, I used to have a terrible "black" thumb, but I've worked at it, and I'm much better now..... feedng "miracle grow" has really helped, and water,water,water!......

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  4. Sorry about the ankles Joan..Leela must like the soap you use..lol

oh you need to water plants and feed them?

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  5. Yep, MC, it is a good day for firefighters :)

MS, that IS a busy day, poor Mr MS, does he get much pain? I hope the waiting list in the BOP isn't too long...

AV, your plants sound beautiful! I imagine you would have to go subtropical in Florida, but it would be hard with water restrictions. We have them here in summer so I would like to get a tank put in, that collects the rain off the roof -- goodness knows we get enough of that in winter! I will post pix if they do look nice but so often the shot is spoiled by something else looking absolutely awful (or dead!), tee hee...

  6. Naughty Leela, leave Mum's ankles alone, you are biting the ankle that feeds you, lol...

CM, I begin to see your problem...

  7. CM, I'm not terribly good with plants either; both in and outdoor. I was looking at photos of Shaddo and Jiggs last night and there was a nice pic of them by the cauldren (yes, it's a real cast-iron cauldren in our back yard!) with fantastic red impatients growing in it. Haven't been able to grow them like that in years!

  8. Hi MC! I didn't see you on the first page there :) It was so worth staying up past your bedtime last night!!
awww Joan..I bet that picture is wonderful with the boys.
My mom was wonderful with flowers and the like..I just don't have the inkling nor the patience it takes to care for them.

  9. Yea, sitting here napping at the computer! Curious to see if I hear from FF today.

  10. Firefighters are sexy (sighs)

Congrats on planting all those daffodil bulbs. It's delayed gratification, but oh, how beautiful they will be next Spring!

Squirrels do not like daffodil bulbs, but they sure do like tulip bulbs.

I want to plant more snowdrops this Fall, those are among the very first bulbs to bloom and boy...they're a welcome sight indeed.

I -did- discover that if you plant mothballs along with tulip bulbs, it keeps the squirrels away! I removed the mothballs in the spring, as I dug around to plant annuals.

  11. Morning Siobhan! Hope all is well with you.

I hear Abbie up so I must go and start my day..no more coffee and lounging in front of the laptop.

Have a wonderful day/night everyone. Hugs to all. I will catch you all sometime :)

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  12. Ooh, Siobhan, yes, snowdrops are totally gorgeous! They are much harder to get here though. A friend kindly gave me some to plant and I love them, they have been growing in her garden (once her grandparents' garden) for about 90 years.

We do not have squirrels. We do have possums (though not so many round this house, I think and hope). But alas, I do have JASPER! I discovered some of the daff bulbs I planted a few weeks ago in the flowerbed under the living room window have all been scratched up, I wonder who did that? NOT!

    Bye for now, CM :)

  13. Also sitting napping at the puter. Bed calls louder now.
Siobhan, I have snow drops blooming in my garden and the first of my Erlicheer bulbs are about to open and enchant me with their beautiful scent. I plant my bulbs in bulb baskets so when it's time to remove them from the ground it's a very easy job. If I had as many bulbs as Jcat I wouldn't bother removing them from the ground.

  14. I did once plant some daff bulbs in a bulb basket MS, eight years ago, and they never came up and I have never found them again... :( So, no, don't think I'll be bothering in future to lift them. Besides, they do get properly chilled here...

Erlicheer, I definitely need some of those, they're so pretty...

  15. I keep banging my head on the keyboard as I nod off so it's time I took my F5F6F7F8 imprinted forehead and toddle off to bed. Shadz is curled in a tight ball in her basket by the fire. We have a fog forecast for the morning so I just may take the opportunity and sleep in.
Sleep well Jcat when you get to bed, have wonderful days for all others.
    Goodnight. . . .zzzzzzzzzzz

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  16. Goodnight, MS, sweet dreams, it sounds like you deserve a sleep-in! I am off too everybody, it is midnight here, hope everyone has a GREAT day, and MC, I have my fingers crossed that you hear from FF today...

    Night/morning all!

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  17. Well, the cafe is buzzing this morning! Good night to those going off to sleep. I wish I were. I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open today.
CM, congrats to Matt! And MC, great news about the date with FF! It sounds like he's starting a "fire" instead of putting one out. LOL!
I have houseplants that are starting to die...you know, the kind that "anyone" can grow and "won't die." Yeah...right.

  18. My husband has entrusted me with watering the plants while he's out of town; I'm not sure he knows what he's getting them into :) Then again, he made me transplant them when we got them home from the store, and they didn't all immediately die, so maybe there's hope.

  19. BOY the cafe's hoppin' today! Keeping the wait staff kitties busy! Look at their tails, it's All Business!

We had an intruder in our back yard last night, someone jumping fences to avoid the police. Tansey got out on the deck and was there for a couple of hours at dark. She -really- wanted to come back in (good girl).

I would love to put razor wire on top of our wire fence, but apparently the city frowns on that. I wonder if they'd object to big pieces of broken glass glued to the top? Or a nice electric fence? We already have an 8' wooden fence at the back, up against the alley....

  20. Ooh Siobhan, how scary. I hope everyone's safe and sound in your household.

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  21. Hello Everyone! The cafe sure is hoppin' this morning!!!!!!! I am only having coffee this morning please. Have a chiropractic appt. today and I sure do need it!! LOL, LK on MC's fireman STARTING a fire! Oohlala! Siobhan, I like the idea of broken glass on the top of your fence :) HUGS to all who need them today!

  22. Hi Kilroy :-) Yah, we're all ok... we were broken into once, many years ago, and THAT was scary. Our kitty hid under the bed and wouldn't come out. I'm SO GLAD he was there, I was worried he had been kicked, killed, let out...

I love it that Georgie is playing with you. Maybe this can be a special bonding time with the two of you, when hubs is gone. I know our kitties got a lot closer to my husband when he was home recuperating from his gut surgery, and now that he's retired too. Hermes has a special way to cuddle with him that isn't the same way Hermes cuddles with me, isn't that funny?

  23. Thursday! Woohoo! Almost Friday! Woke up to Taco hiding under the couch and when he finally came out he had a little bit of blood on the fur around his bum so I'm going to have to keep an eye on him today. Poor little man :( I hope he's ok.

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  24. Siobhan that sounds scary! I'm glad everyone is okay.

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  25. Hi everyone! Oh poor Taco! I hope he's alright.

Posted 2 years ago by metsa #

  26. Hi all, I'm back. Thanks Siobhan, I agree 100% about Georgie :) My fondest hope is that he'll come sit on my lap for petting sometime before hubby comes home. Probably won't happen, but I can hope.

Gini, I hope Taco is OK :( Poor little guy.

  27. ..... raise your paw if you HATE moving!....... I cannot believe I'm doing this for the THIRD time in a year!...... (you'd think I'd be better at this by now).......

..... good news, I weed out more and more each time.......

  28. Mmmm Milwaukee Morning to all...a lovely day to take a walk, even to work!
Yay it is Thursday...Jazz in the Park tonight...free tunes in a pretty setting! I'll have a croissant and nice cup of black Java to start the day!
Hope all can enjoy your day/evening!

  29. Been to the doctor this morning. They think I have swine flu. I started getting sick on Monday night, but I really thought it was allergies because I was on the field that night. Tuesday morning got a little worse. By last night I had a fever and was a sick puppy. The vampires took blood--and I am bruised beyond belief. Home drinking a cup of coffee, but not sitting so well. I swear when I get the id number of the Mack truck that hit me!!

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  30. Oh SM I'm so sorry. Swine flu is no fun :( although thankfully, swine flu is actually better than the normal flu that people get. People get over it faster, a MUCH smaller percent of people are hospitalized/seriously ill from it, and it is less intense symptoms than the normal flu. Nonetheless, it is definitely scary and not fun. *sends soup your way* I really hope you have a fast recovery. Take it very easy and have people around to help you as much as possible. Sending healing energy your way
