  1. Good morning fellow healthy lifestylers!

I'm feeling bloated and miserable today. Didn't get to exercise yesterday as I was sick and it's going to be hot and humid here today so going to walk indoors at lunchtime.

Wishing everyone a day of good health! Jump in anytime and everyone is welcome!

  2. Hiya Lainey! I am ready to go today. I have a renewed sense of energy today and am going to try to stay away from the candy dish! Why is there candy EVERYWHERE when you work in healthcare?

  3. Good morning Lainey and MC!! Did my walk this morning for an hr, got back about 30 min ago and have been working. Thought I'd check in and say hello and have a great Friday. LOL, MC and the candy dish, I know what you mean. I actually do less snacking working from home than I did when I had an office. I used to keep a candy jar in my office to entice the techie guys who worked for me to do what I asked them to do, but I kept it across the room from my desk so I couldn't reach it. I KNOW you have the willpower to stay away....

  4. Years ago I was taught to keep a candy dish on the desk as it draws people to you (this is a good thing? LOL) Anyway... so instead of candy, I'm the office go to gal for pain relief... Motrin, Tylenol, Asprin, etc. And they sure do come!

  5. I think I could lose 10 pounds without even trying if I started working from home; no more access to our "everything you could possibly want" cafeteria, and I'd probably find more time to exercise.

    Have a great day, ladies.

  6. How is everyone doing so far today? I'm getting ready to go walking. Lost my pedometer (have a free one coming in the mail). going to walk inside today as it's muggy with a threat of storms till 5pm. Don't wanna be caught in a downpour. Will check in later.

  7. Hello everyone. I got off to a bad start this morning. I have an exam at 1:00 (I'm taking a break from studying at the moment), so I'm at a coffee shop where I had a latte and pastries. Eek. I hope everyone else is having better luck than me. I'm spending this weekend in Waco with friends, so I'm sure I'll be 10 lbs heavier when I get back. *grin*

  8. This morning I woke up to Ruggles standing on my chest, yowling for treats with his fat little nose a bare inch from my own. And as soon as I blinked myself awake, Rotley started "making muffins" on my leg.

Does anyone want a two-cat alarm clock? :)

  9. Emma, I actually incorporated my cats running back and forth across my bed into my dream for a while before waking up. It was odd.

  10. That is funny, LK!

I guess I should be grateful. At least Ruggie's breath wasn't like last fall, when I took all my container plants in and put them in the guest room to get them through the winter.

And then I, silly woman, left the door open by accident.

Dear little Ruggles found the chive plant and ate the entire thing down to the bulb. Then, the next morning, he woke me up with a blast of pungent Chive Breath.

Smelled like something had crawled in there and died.

Yeesh! Still get cold chills from that memory!

  11. I'm off-track; yesterday I had a burrito the size of a kitten at a local Mexican restaurant. I had to eat it with a knife and fork (unlike a burrito at Taco Bell, which is at least holdable), and it didn't have a lot of cheese in it. On the up side, after I got home I chased a baby chick around for a couple of minutes before putting her back in her hutch (that's a lot of exercise if you don't routinely chase poultry around; I figured she needed the exercise and a few bugs to eat).

  12. ... woke up early and dove into paperwork..... met Hubbs for breakfast - english muffin and a bowl of grits (no butter)..... not too bad...... plan to pack Abby up in the stroller later on and walk for at least an hour...... dinner tonight will be healthy tacos - using ground chicken, low fat sour cream and cheese, and lots of yummy avacado!......

  13. Vicki, I LOLd at both your description of the burrito ("the size of a kitten") and the mental image of you chasing a baby chick around. Thanks for making me smile.

Emma, I am feeling like an idjit today; somewhere yesterday I saw something or read something that included the name Ruggles (not the one of Red Gap), but I can't remember where I saw it! Made me think of you, though. Forgive me for having a head like a sieve.

  14. Hey friends! ya know, perfection is not our goal. Baby steps and loving ourselves enough to keep going, even if we do have a latte and pastries or a burrito as big as a kitten!

I have a diet shake for breakfast (for me I need to stop doing those as they are nothing but sugar anyway!). For lunch I am having baked halibut with a teeny dollop of crabe imperial on it, some wild rice and a cucumber and onion salad with a really good dill dressing. This from the cafeteria (also need to pack lunch as it's waaay to expensive down there and I can't control the fat). Anyway... it's a good lunch and fairly healthy. Had a short walk around the plant. Plan on doing Jillian Michael's 30 day shred dvd when I get home.

How is your day coming along?

  15. Hi, Everyone! Once again I'm late because I've been watching the Tour de France. But I was at the gym at 5:30 am today and did an hour of cardio on what we affectionately call the Kick A_ _ machine, and then 40 minutes of weights with my trainer. Two friends split the cost of a trainer with me and so we work with her as a little group of three. She told us on Wednesday that she was going to work us so hard we would think of her all weekend. And I do believe that she was right!

Came home and made my protein shake with a banana and three strawberries.

Tonight is chicken spaghetti and a zucchini casserole that is really good. My pear and blue cheese salad, grilled ciabatta bread and Mexican ice cream sundaes. Our friends will be staying tonight who are setting off on the 150 mile bike ride tomorrow with Mr. WWM. They all want to carbo load tonight.

And tomorrow, after I take them to the starting point, I'm coming home to get dressed and then head out to poke in the stores and shop a little bit.

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

  16. Healthy morning all. Had the usual breakfast this morning: 1/2 protein drink, fruit and cereal. Oh, and always aboaut 3 oz of aloe vera juice. Had my 1 hour session with trainer last night. OUCH ! I, too, will think of her all weekend. Went out dancing for about an hour after the training session. Felt great ! More dancing tonight; golf with my Dad and son tomorrow, and dancing tomorrow night. Hope to work in a racquet ball game tomorrow at some point.
Currently snacking on jicama. Yum !

  17. What's the best protein powder/shake? I need to get some, and have not a clue what brands are good, what are rubbish, etc.

    Any suggestions are appreciated!

  18. My trainer has me using Dymatize Elite whey protein powder. I actually buy a 5 lb bucket at a time. It comes in different flavors... I, of course, have to have the rich chocolate. It's not cheap... but shop around. I found it at Vitamin Shoppe for $39.99 for the 5 lbs. It lasts quite a while. I mix 1/2 scoop of powder with about 5 ounces of skim milk, shake vigorously and drink. That is part of my breakfast every morning and my after workout protein boost.
Here is a link to what it looks like, but this price is scary !!!

Oh, and I think it tastes pretty good, too. Doesn't have the chalky, vitaminy taste.

  19. my stomach is upset today. i had too much popcorn at the movie theatre yesterday (saw harry potter) and now i'm paying for it. it's hot and muggy today, so i have all the fans going, and today i'm getting ready to paint the bedroom tomorrow...

Posted 2 years ago by CSBM #

  20. Sorry to hear that Cheri... I know the feeling quite well. I can easily over eat on popcorn !

  21. Emma, I use the "Beneprotein" by Hormel. It is a tasteless protein you can add to any foods. I like the versitility of it. I get it from walgreens.com. I totally fell off the good eating wagon. I was getting yelled at today and was sitting in an office with a bushel of animal crackers. Before I knew it my stress kicked in and I had two massive handfuls....

  22. I actually get the whey protein powder at Wal-Mart. I read tons about whey protein and this one was very popular and had good nutritional reviews. There is 26 grams of protein in one scoop, so that's quite a lot. I get the vanilla because you can add any kind of fruit to it and still taste the fruit. I am especially fond of a banana and peanut butter protein shake. At my grocery store they have a yummy organic peanut butter that has no sodium (Yay!!!) and tastes great. I mix one scoop of whey protein powder, 8 oz of skim milk and anything else that I see to throw in there. I almost always do a banana.

I did see 5 lb bags of whey protein powder at Sam's Club this week but it had less protein per serving than mine so I'll just stick with what I know.
