Mom and dad packed the station wagon to the hilt, reserving 7 places for us to sit. We headed for our annual vacation to the (Jersey) Shore. Rented the same bungalow every year. This was the ONLY year we brought a television, in order to watch the moon landing. I was just a 5 year old pipsqueek!

  2. I was young too, but I remember it. We were at the family cottage. We didn't have a TV there, so we went down to someone else's cottage to watch.

  6. I was 13, babysitting some kids down the street. We all watched it together. It was very cool but I was a little miffed at the time because they broke into the Miss Universe pageant, lol.

  7. I was merely a twinkle in God's eye! Not yet born!

  8. I was in Great Falls MT and I was 9. I remember us all crowded around the TV. My dad was so nervous that they wouldn't make it back that he breathed a huge sigh of relief once the ship came back to Earth.

My favorite aunt always said that nobody ever really went to the moon, "they done all that in Hollywood." lol

  9. Oh Cool, Me & HM are the same age!!! What some good company!!!

  10. I had just turned ten and my dad made me watch it on TV - I wanted to go outside and play! I remember my neighbor next door, who was a retired farmer who I am sure started farming as a boy before we had tractors and had to use horses - he could not believe that we actually sent men to the moon and was convinced that it was all Hollywood. A moon landing was just too much for this 80+ year old man to comprehend.

  14. I wouldn't come into the world for another two years -- I was born in August of 1971.

  15. Karen, you're not old, not at all.

I was 6 months old, and as I came into the world small and sickly I think I had only been home for about a month and a half.

  16. I was 5 years of age (just shy of my 6th birthday in Aug) and I didn't get to watch it. We were possibly just moving to Dallas, Texas at the time (1969-1971).

Posted 2 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  28. Sorry Popoki...did we pass each other in the halls at either Mercy HS or Pulaski HS on Milwaukee's South Side...or perhaps at a dance with our rival team's school members?!

Posted 2 years ago by jeankit #

  29. Ahhh... you were on the south side. I went to West Milwaukee aka WeMiHi. My mom and dad both went to South Division.
