It just wasn't the one I wanted! Mr Hoover is still on the run. It was dark when I went out there, and I saw something light colored run away. It might have been him, or it could have been another cat. But the one inside the trap was a mangy ol' black cat who didn't like being caught. At least now the trap smells like cat, so maybe I'll have better luck now. Keep those good vibes coming!

All I can say is...I'm grateful it wasn't a skunk. It's very tricky letting them back out. lol.
Jadete...if you know your going to be home for 2-3 days, try leaving the trap door open w/a small piece of wood to keep the door from closing. Let it stay propped open overnight & thru the day (keeping food tied to the top/back). And from there...just observe from a distance as often & as long as you can. This way you can get an idea of who's visiting the trap. And it makes the cats so much less wary of the trap when they think it's not going to slam down. God only knows how much time I spent having to do that, but,in my case I had many more than one I had to trap.
In order to catch Hopper,I had to start thinking like him (& finding out the hours he kept. I had 2 traps set at a time, but,he kept coming to the one I sent you. I had them propped open for a good week in my case. And don't laugh(okay, you can),but,I even hid under the picnic table from view of them a few times, just to see who came & when.
I cringed lots of times seeing Hopper & Hissy both go into the trap & eat the nummies & leave, all along thinking I could have caught them. But,I guarantee,it took letting them go in & out of the trap w/out fear before I could finally set the trap to catch them.
Sorry for the long post guys & now you all probably think I'm a nut case. :) -
NNGM...Hoover thinks he's smart. lol. Ms. Hissy is the smartest Siamese I've ever come across. I literally had to tie a rope to the door of a large dog crate. Left it open for the better part of 2 wks. She was coming & going & eating all she wanted thru-out the 2 wks. After I got her schedule down to a science,I ran the rope on the door back thru the cage & had the rope go around the corner of the house where she couldn't see it. When I saw her go into the cage to eat,I went out the front door to the rope. When I was close enuf to see she was still in it,I yanked the rope, falling to the ground & skidding all the way the the cage door(about 15 ft.) to make sure the door stayed shut. A couple times I thought she would get out,she was pushing on the door so hard,it was opening. My adrenaline was much stronger than her tho. lol
