Try to be as specific as possible, and this will help me make sure I get something lined up to suit every taste and budget, and I'll make sure everyone is both close to the airport, downtown, UT and the meet-up place.

Lisa, do you need more from me? I am still hoping that perhaps we can all be at the same hotel. Knowing Austin I'm afraid if people set a budget that is too low, they will find themselves in a less than desirable part of town!

Lisa, I'm willing to help with the organizing/checking hotels for rooms, etc. (telephoning to check for room availability, etc.) if needed. I'm also willing to drive/ shuttle people from hotel to meetup, too ~ just need to get the appropriate locations/directions; I'm pretty sure KW and I will be driving up from San Antonio to Austin on the 11th.... she's staying in Austin and going on to the So Cal meetup; don't know where she's staying in Austin yet; we can work this out... just let me know...
I think we can work it out just fine. I'll volunteer to be the DD... I'm just trying to get an idea from Lisa where she wants to have the meetup, and what hotels she's suggesting. Because it's a 'football' weekend, I have no idea what logistical problems we'll have with that in terms of getting hotel rooms and finding a meeting place.... Lisa?????
I can help with transportation: There's room for three more in the RaggTopp, and since alcohol is strictly verboten on my diet, I can also be a DD.
The good news is that the Sept. 12 UT game is away in Laramie, WY--that won't be a conflict. There are also no major events scheduled for that weekend (like ACL Music Festival) that would sell out space. It should pretty much be open season on hotels.
I didn't mean to scare anyone with the emails: it's just a fact that if you didn't know how crime-ridden IH35 and Rundberg is, you'd think it a pretty central place to stay. It's right on the Interstate and just far enough north of UT to not have to hear drunken Longhorns "hookin' em" all night long. It even looks ok--from a distance and at 65mph. Then you hear the same news every morning, just with different names attached.
I am gonna be driving from Lubbock and can drive people too. I cant drink on my meds so I can be a DD as well.

BTW check out the fairs on southwest, they are always really reasonable between lubbock and austin
