It has been FIVE WEEKS to the day since he escaped. I came home from work and saw the trap has been sprung so I put my stuff inside and went out to look. At first I thought there was nothing in there, he was crouched so close to the trap door under where it slants. He saw me and started hissing! I saw he has a scar above his left eye. He must have gotten into a fight. I will take him to the vet on Thursday, my day off to get him checked out. I brought the whole trap inside and when I lifted the door he zoomed out and ran up the stairs. He is probably hiding under the bed. I wonder if I will ever get him out. I also wonder if he has forgotten how to use the litter box....
Anyway, I would like to thank everyone for their continued prayers and advice, and especially a BIG thank you, thank you, thank you to Susie/Feral for sending me the lucky trap!!!! She has been a Godsend!

Jadete, that trap is truly the 'lucky TDK trap' ~ maybe TDKers should ask Susie if we can keep sharing it for catmergencies around the TDK family.....Saying another prayer Hoover's 'spa' checkup goes perfectly; Jadete, just don't let this young man get out again, please!!

Oh, what good news! I'm so glad I checked in. That is a very lucky trap indeed. Keep a close eye on him, Jadete. I always found that when Jerrie would manage to sneak out he would keep trying for a few weeks to bolt out the door. That was probably because he never got into anything scary - when he escaped it was usually just to wander around in the neighbor's garages, ha ha.

This is great news. I bet Hoover is super glad to have his old bed to hide under until he gets his nerves settled.
Be thankful it is a bed Hoover seeks for his safe place. I had a bluepoint who would periodically forget he was not a big bad outdoor kitty and make his escape. While I did not have to resort to a trap to get him back in, when he returned home he would make a beeline to the back bath to hide under the antique ball and claw tub and howl for days about how scary the wide world outside was.
The house sounded haunted until he calmed down.

Woohoo Hoover! I'm so pleased he is home and relatively unharmed. I'd love to hear him tell Truman all about how he got the scar - I bet he exaggerates "You should see the other guy" etc etc.
