  1. How's everyone doing today?

I have the virtual treadmill fired up, and the protein shakes are on the bar.

And yesterday (drum roll, please) I did a FULL HOUR on the elliptical.

  2. Good for you Emma!.... so far, I've done an hour on the vacumn, and an hour on the mop!.... took a break and went to breakfast with Hubbs had 2 scrambled eggs and 1 scoop of low fat cottage cheese, and 1/2 dry english muffin..... not bad for a breakfast out.....

... going back down to do a couple more hours manuel labor, then probably tackeling some outdoor exercises too (i.e. yard work, weeding).....

.... I should be thoroughly exhausted by the time the day is done, and if I EVER see that lazy HAZEL again, I'm getting out my wack bonk stick!......

  5. Thank you, Emma, for startting today's thread. After I had bumped up a couple of posts the T1 line got cut and we are down for who knows how long. I'm home for lunch. Emotionally i'm worse than yesterday. Honey and I talked till almost 2am this morning and we still don't know what we are gonna do. Please pray for him and for us. I'll check in again when I can. Thanks.

  6. ONe hour with trainer last night and home for a good dinner. I just love fresh asparagus, and it was $0.97/lb WHOO HOOO! Tonight is racquet ball right after work. Possibly a post-workout smoothie at the One-Stop-Nutrition place next to the gym.

So happy to be part of this group !!!

  7. Way to go, Emma!!!! Whoo-hooo!!!

2P, I am thinking that it would be cheaper for me to drive there and buy asparagus than to buy it in the stores here. That is an unbelievable price!!!

Today was my day off from the gym, but I had a doctors appointment. So I'm getting a very late TDK start!

  8. WWM - that is the only time I'll buy it; when it is on an incredible sale. Sprouts has some good prices !

  9. 2P, our favorite way to do asparagus is to grill it. Have you tried this? Drizzle a bit of oil olive over the asparagus spears and season with salt (of course I skip that step!) and freshly ground black pepper. Take several spears of asparagus, I usually do four or five, and wrap a piece of bacon (low sodium, of course) spiral fashion around the asparagus. Secure the bacon with a toothpick. Grill the bundle and when the bacon is cooked crisp, the asparagus will be perfect. Still a little bit crunchy. It is delicious!

  10. I am SO not adventurous when it comes to cooking. Have a hard time getting the grill to light sometimes, and it seems like such a big effort for one person. I will keep that idea in mind though! Sounds yummy ! I steam mine, and add a bit of butter. Simple...

  11. I'm sorry, I strayed from the path today - we took Mum to Cadbury World in honour of it being her 75th birthday on Friday - and they're very generous with their free samples...I will still do my sit ups tonight though!

  12. No worries about that MCW. I have a handful of dark-chocolate covered raisins each work day. In fact, that is what finally defeated the 2 day old headache ! Gotta have some of the good stuff too.

  13. There is a Cadbury world?!!? I went to England last year and I missed Cadbury World? Probably a good thing.

  14. GASP - I didn't know that there was a Cadbury World, either!!!! What kind of rides do they have? :-)

Posted 7 months ago by WillowandWindismom #

  15. Cadbury World is just outside Birmingham, in Bournville, the original (and still working) factory of the Cadbury family. It's not a theme park as such, it's a big walking tour round a huge exhibition they've built, in several "zones" going through the history of Cadbury and how it came to be the world giant it is today. There is one ride, an indoor one, which is a bit cutesy, but great for little kids (and Mum loved it too!)

  16. I have totally fallen "off the wagon" so to speak this week. I have eaten awful and have felt like a slug. I need to start eating better and doing some sort of activity besides my daily activity. UGH!

  17. Well I would be more interested in the history of Cadbury than of Guiness, which is what comes up on all the tours of Ireland I am looking at. But we did not get to Birmingham on our trip. I did bring back some Cadbury chocolate - plane snacks! The stuff from the UK is better than the stuff labeled Cadbury in the US. Hershey contracts for the name here and does not use as rich and fatty a chocolate as the UK plants.

I have to work on my eating again too MC - I have been good this week with the gym but terrible with food.

  18. *plans to travel really light and bring vast quantities of genuine Cadburys in September*

Posted 7 months ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  19. That could make you a very popular woman MCW! Of course if you swing through central pennsylvania you can tour 2 chocolate factories: Hershey's and Litiz, both good but not up to Cadbury in decadence standards.

Posted 7 months ago by TrufflesMom #

  20. There are several shops here that sell British goods, so we can actually get "real" Cadburys, as opposed to the American stuff. One of them's next to the tearoom I went to on Sunday; I had to force myself to *not* walk in.

  21. Emma, I'm impressed, an hour on the elliptical! I'm only at 15 minutes but working upwards.

  22. I can only do 10... (and come off it a colour that would make a beetroot look anaemic!)

Posted 7 months ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  23. Doing my sit ups and heading for bed - g'night all!

Posted 7 months ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  24. Hang in there, MS and MCW!! It gets easier.

Posted 7 months ago by Kilroy #

  25. MCW and MS, I wonder if you might want to think about doing some other cardio that you can do for a longer period? Maybe the treadmill and raise the elevation, or the bike?

Posted 7 months ago by WillowandWindismom #

  26. We've not had the elliptical very long so I'm just building up slowly. I've noticed it is easier over the last two weeks so I'll just keep plodding on gently. I no longer do the beetroot thing MCW so it does improve.

  27. yes, I did go to the gym today and I feel proud of myself...

Posted 7 months ago by Cheri 12/22 #

  28. Yay for Cheri !!!

I will be leaving the office in 15 minutes for at least one hour of racquet ball. If the courts are empty - we'll go for 2. Fingers crossed !

  29. Well, heck, everybody! Okaaaaaaay. Count me in, within my limits. I walked up my stairs today--up and down six times. Pulse below 100 for the first time in eight weeks. I can breathe again! I love breathing!
